Great pen for the minimalist at a minimalist price
Bought this pen as a Christmas present for my son. I have a Rotring Quattro and he always asks to use mine. The finish is very nice on the Kentaur. The feel and balance is nice but doesn't feel as solid as the Rotring. Pressing the top to choose the tool is very nice and easy. Retracting the tool with the button is also quick and easy. The ink is very nice and I am also happy with it. Overall, it is a very nice pen and I am satisfied with it. I would definitely recommend this pen for someone looking for an affordable and a nice build quality pen.

WoW Impressive!
I grew up in the 50’s I had pens like this. One would slide side button down to select one of 4 colors with the same D1 refills. Brass plated chrome from a company like ‘Noma’. This pen is remake of the original. Ballpoints often leaked back then. This pen high quality construction and ingenious way to select the color. AMAZING!

This pen has potential!
I really like the mechanical functionality of this pen. However the ink wasn't very good, it would not write consistently for me, it left blank areas. I bought the One Private Reserve 635 Mini D1 Refills and they are great, now this pen is my favorite and I have owned many multifunction pens. As a teacher, I love having 4 colors but the best part is the 7mm pencil; I love this! I paid $20 for ink refills and $17.50 for the pen, this is a high price but I really love it.

Seller response
Even though this product ended up being defective and started to pop apart after about a week of use. I am happy with the seller response in working to find a solution in this order. That is the reason for the 5 star review. I loved the product for the little time I used it.

Not for kids as it is easily damaged.
But handled like the precision instrument it is, it's a great pen. UPDATE: I had two of these (yes, HAD). The first I'd let someone use and said person, in trying to "close" it incorrectly, crushed the top button all the way into the barrel (vice using the side release!) so now it doesn't work. The second I was using and dropped, and it fell right on the tip, driving the pen up into the barrel and now it does not work either (and a tiny coil spring fell out)! don't loan this and don't drop it. I'm disheartened because it wrote quite well and was useful.

Except for its Yafa-like pencil, it worked great until the pen's clicker exploded
With the exception of the pencil tip always unscrewing itself loose, I enjoyed this pen for a little less than 3 months of use; at which time the pen's clicker simply broke off and flew everywhere as I was inserting it into my computer bag's specialized compartment for pens. The pencil tip issue is exactly why I swore off using Yafa pens, and why I will now never again buy another Kentaur. That is unless Kentaur wants to prove to me that the pen's clicker was a lemon and they send me a replacement pen. But only after Kentaur replaces their pencil tip with same one that Parker's four function pen uses (never an issue with the pencil tip), that I've owned and used for about 4 years now.

Second-best multipen I've ever tried
I've been carrying and using various brands of refillable multipens every day for nearly two decades. Now that Kentaur USA no longer seems to carry their other 5-in-1 multifunction pen (the one with the carbon fiber barrel), this is the best currently available multipen I've ever tried. My Amazon review of the other Kentaur 5-in-1 pen[...] provides additional detail. In brief, this slimmer pen accommodates one 0.5 mm mechanical pencil, small eraser under the cap, and four other standard multipen refills. The gravity feed action is reliable and good. The body has clean, simple lines, with a durable finish (unlike the gun metal finish on the old Rotring Quattro, which used to wear away and expose the brass barrel in an ugly fashion). I contacted Kentaur USA customer service once and was pleased at the promptness and quality of their response. Ballpoint refills are available from a variety of manufacturers -- I myself prefer the Lamy M21 instead of the Kentaur, and they're also available from Parker, Fisher [space pen], Monteverde [nice color variety], and other companies. This incarnation of the pen is listed as of this writing as coming with a stylus that works with touch devices such as the old Palm PDAs, but I retired mine recently; note that the capacitive screens on devices such as the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch won't work with this kind of stylus. The icons on the pen I purchased from Amazon are slightly different (black, blue, red, highlighter, and pencil), but you can modify the refills with anything you like in four of the slots because only the mechanical pencil is fixed. The pen isn't absolutely perfect -- I wish the grip were somehow more comfortable without compromising its good, durable looks. And the pencil mechanism is a little fiddly, spontaneously unscrewing itself every so often. Nonetheless, this is the very best multipen currently available that I've had the pleasure to handle. This pen, along with the other Kentaur offering, is highly functional with five points, solid constructed, and reasonably priced.

Works great!
I had a hard time finding multifunction pens, but after finding these the search was worth it. The description now indicates that this one includes a PDA stylus, but when I bought it the description said it did not have a stylus but rather a highlighter pen. The pen I received does not have a stylus, it has a highlighter pen. (I also ordered a very similar pen which does have a stylus, and does not have a highlighter; it has a black area roughly 1/3 the length of the pen just above the tapering for the tip.) The highlighter is not really useful as a highlighter, because the tip is the same size as an ordinary pen, so it would take a lot of scribbling to match a dedicated highlighter - but the ink is transparent enough that you can do that if you're so inclined. I find it useful enough just as an additional color pen (it's orange).
