desertcart.com: DORAEMON Gadget Cat from the Future Vol. 5: 9784092270152: Fujiko F. Fujio: Books Review: 15 Selected Episodes, No Anglicization of Character Nicknames - Fifth volume of one of the most beloved children's comic in Japan and in Asia may not be tailored for North American release but if you already know Doraemon through TV series and animation films it is a good Doraemon item for you to have. There are three editions of English language Doraemon series also known as The Gadget Cat From The Future. Most recent one is released in the form of digital book currently available only in kindle. It is not only digital edition of this comic but it is new translation. Character names are anglicized just as other TV animations from Japan or Japanese comics, the tools and gadgets are named in the way so that American children can enjoy. Other two versions are Japanese/English and Chinese/English. This one is the fifth volume of Japanese/English edition much more closer to original text and no anglicization is made. While it may not be the best translation, you can enjoy about one hundred fifty episodes selected from 1969-1996. Book #5 has fifteen of them. The episodes are selected from Volume 14 to 16 of Japanese Tentomushi comics written entirely in Japanese. These episodes were printed around mid to late 70s when Doraemon's popularity reached some of the Asian countries. My top favorite episode is the second episode Mood Moriage Gakudan, in which a tiny trio ensemble encourages Nobita, a boy who is often being bullied, a bit too much. Fujiko's vivid drawings can be found in other episodes. Verdict: Good Ol' Days of Cat Robot From 22nd Century Rating: 89 out of 100 Recommended for: Fans of fantasy and sci-fi novels/graphic novels/films and animation films.
