Worked when nothing else did
When I lived in a house I never noticed that my two little dogs would bark when they heard any noise (cars going by, people walking by, etc). However, when I sold the house and moved to an apartment in the city, I realized just how much they barked (people in the hallway, people outside, a car in the window of a neighboring building, etc). Got a dog trainer to work with us on barking and other behavioral issues. Trainer recommended shaking a can filled with coins, water spray bottle, canned air spray, etc. Only problem was, the dog that barked the most got adept at running away when she barked, so none of those methods really worked. Tried this collar, and it has been a game changer! I only use it on the dog that has consistently been the biggest barking offender, and her behavior has changed completely. Instead of becoming completely unhinged when she hears a noise in the hall, she just lets out a low growl (more like a grumble as she’s trying to control herself, not like an aggressive growl) or whine. If she does bark, I only need to hold up the hand controller and she calms herself down and stops barking immediately. The best part is, I only had to use the beep or spray a handful of times before she figured it out. Battery life has been great, although admittedly I don’t have to use it very often. She wears the collar all the time, but since I rarely use it to beep or spray her, I probably charge it overnight once a week or once every two weeks. Definitely would buy again and highly recommend!

Works very well and great customer service
One of our dogs randomly starts howling in the back yard. Nothing is wrong but it sounds like somebody is killing her and freaks out the neighbors. Ordered this collar so we could beep/spray remotely. It worked great so we decided to get another one for our other dog. Battery life isn't bad. Have to charge the collars every other day, haven't charged the remotes in over a month. The cartridges don't have a whole lot of spray, so having to buy a lot of refills. I especially like the beep vs spray. After awhile, our dogs figured out that the beep was a warning and if they didn't stop they would get sprayed. For our second dog, we could probably just take it off - he's trained now to stop jumping on the glass doors from the outside. If you haven't sprayed in awhile, the nozzle gets clogged, so I normally do one spray in the morning before I put the collars on to make sure the nozzle is clear. Great customer service! The second collar would not pair to either of our remotes. I called PetSafe. After walking me through some basic troubleshooting, they sent me a new one with no hassle.

Don't like it as much as the older style — NOTE:this item is NOT RETURNABLE!!!
I've been using PetSafe citronella collars for years and I have to say that this collar/remote is no where near as nice or easy to use as the previous ones I've had. As a dog trainer I've gotten a lot of use out of them, mostly for gentle reminders when working on off-leash commands and doing setups to correct problems like poop eating, counter surfing or stealing from the garbage. Here is a list of the problems that I have with this new style collar and remote... 1. The buttons on the remote aren't real buttons! They're little outlines scribed in the rubber shell with the actual button underneath the rubber skin. I guess it's probably a lot cheaper for the manufacturer to make, but they're not user friendly at all! It's almost impossible to find the 'buttons' in the dark and you have to feel around the surface of the remote to find the outline of the 'button' so you can push it. You definitely won’t be able to find the buttons if you’re wearing gloves. They require a lot of pressure to push them. So between fumbling around to find the button, and having to push really hard, it's pretty much impossible to get a well timed 'spray' exactly when you need it. 2. The way the buttons are laid out on the remote is terrible! There are buttons on the left, top and right sides and you need to reposition the remote in your hand repeatedly to switch between buttons. You definitely can't switch between dog-1 and dog-2, and then find the spray button without having to look down at the remote in your hand to figure out where to place your fingers. 3. The collars and remote all need to be plugged in to recharge them pretty much every day (paperwork says 40 hours) ... I've got way to many chargers in my life, having to take off and recharge the citronella collars, then make sure the collars get back on the correct dogs... nope. 4. The charging cable doesn't even come with a wall plug... it's a USB end, so I need to plug it into my computer or go out and buy a separate charging block. And since I also bought the Add-A-Dog collar, it's actually 2 USB cords laying around getting tangled everywhere and taking up my computer ports. And the plug ends that plug into the collar and remote are made of plastic with little metal contact points... so I can envision that breaking rather quickly. 5. I can't say how good/bad the citronella cartridges are... I never even bothered to load one into the collar. I dislike the remote so much that I'm going to be returning both the Remote Spray Trainer and the Add-A-Dog collar both unused. *See update below* I do have to say that I liked the old style collars with the spray can to refill them. I HATE the smell of citronella so I tend to use mostly the unscented spray and every 2nd or 3rd refill I'd add some citronella, so it wasn't an overpowering citronella smell. Here we only have the choice of unscented or citronella, can't mix them both together at the same time to make it less potent smelling. PETSAFE - I really wanted to like this new collar, but I just can't. Dog owners already have way to much 'stuff' to hold in their hands when they're on walks - leashes, treats, poop bags, balls, etc... We desperately need easy one-handed operation with this remote! Please put all the buttons on ONE side so that when you're holding it you can find them all without looking, by just moving your thumb around one surface. Make them raised buttons so they're easy to find in the dark. And add a separate set of buttons for the 2nd dog, rather than having to shift the remote in your hand to find the side with the button to switch from dog-1 to dog-2 then shift it in your hand again to find the spray button. Waaayyyyy to complicated and not user friendly at all. I never even figured out how to toggle between spray, tone and vibrate. There's no way you'd be able to switch back and forth between the three. So basically you're buying a collar capable of doing three things, but once you get it set up for one, you'll probably never change to the other two because it's just too difficult... so it'd be better to just make it a single function spray collar and forget about building the added tone and vibrate functions in there too. Save money and just build a simple, easy to use remote that works for 2 dogs and I'd be soooo happy. One last thing I loved about my old remote was the 2 different levels of spray available. I love the idea of being able to send a smaller spray for minor things like poop eating, or a BIG spray for something like bolting across the park towards the road. UPDATE: the collars are not returnable!!!! It doesn’t say it anywhere in the Amazon advertisement, but the manufacturer does not allow you to return their product!!!!! Find a store that sells them and ask to see it I person before you buy it because once you order it from Amazon you’re stuck with it. Once I found out I couldn’t return it I put it on my dog and tried it. When you push the spray button the collars makes a loud squeak just before it sprays. I took it off to look at it closer and realized that it’s the mechanism depressing to let the spray out. Moving parts that will probably clog with dirt and hair. And last... it’s January in NY and you absolutely can’t find the buttons on the remote with gloves on! Can’t keep it in your pocket and find/press the buttons like I do with my “old style” collar.

Good product but it will cost on refillable cartridges
Device works great and it easy to use. I gave it 3 stars because the cartridges are not refillable and they do not last long. They need to make a reusable cartridge that can be refilled vs having to purchase new plastic cartridges all the time.

Easy to set up
Bought this to replace 6yr older version. What I liked: It's a bit smaller and seems to have good range What I'm not impressed with: The capsules you now have to buy don't work very well. The first one I installed took several attempts to get it to spray..then only worked 4 times before it just sprayed air. The second capsule wasn't much better..per the instructions the capsules are good for 36 sprays..

Gentle, but firm dog training
This is a great way to gently, but firmly train your dog. At the time I had a 2 year old rambunctious Australian Shepherd who was barking incessantly at the many birds flying over the back yard. With this training collar and remote control, I trained him to completely stop barking in 2 days. My neighbor was very grateful.
