Repeat performance!
I bought a close friend a violin, and he plays it constantly. I purchased this chart almost a year ago for him, and the other day he asked if I could order another one for him. I said of course I will. I asked if it was that good, and he said, OHHHHHH, YESSSS! So here I am, ordering another one. Actually, I had a chance to view the first chart, and it really does have some very good information for playing the violin, for finger arranging, and notes. I would agree with him that it is a standout on violin playing. I would suggest this product to everyone.

violin chart
This wall chart is much larger than I expected which made finding a spot on my wall to put it a bit of a problem. It is great for showing the parts and names of the violin and the bow, but I was hoping for a chart that addressed itself more to the actual location on each string of all the notes. Yes they are there, but the violin is placed horizontally on the chart - I would find it easier for me to find my notes if the violin was placed vertically on the chart. Yes, I could hang the chart differently and I may have to do that. Also, there is other information on the chart, that, for me as a novice violinist, is not adequately explained as to meaning. I will have to take the chart to my instructor and have it explained. I don't want to discourage you from buying it. It is a good visual aid, I just think that with some thought it could be improved.

Great Learning Tool
This chart would be a great addition to teachers room and an easy way to learn. It is pretty big which I didn't know when I first bought it since I thought it was a little chart. It has the parts of the violin along with notes and fingerboard notes as well. I used this to learn and I am just beginner and picked up on it easily so I know it would be a great addition to a teacher.

Great poster with essential information
I bought some fingerboard tapes that also include felt "position" markers. This poster shows you what the 4 positions are. Now I know where to put the felt pads. Also includes a quick key signature reference. Can't really go wrong. It deserves a place on my wall.

Great reference poster
Purchased for my daughter and it's a great resource. Hanging on the wall in front of her music sheets. If you get any poster for reference by a Mel Bay. Going to get the upright bass one next!

good poster
i don't think its worth $10, but if you want it for a violin beginner then you should get it anyway (i didn't do much shopping around, there is probably something similar for cheaper out there i just don't know). I am disappointed, however, about the packaging of said poster, it was rolled up then folded to fit in a regular box, so it has some ugly creases on it, and practically looks like crap up on my daughter's wall, but I'm not too much worried about that as it still will fit its purpose for a reference guide.

Great but doesn't come laminated
The chart is very good and useful for me. I've used tack pins to hook it up to the wall. Because it came rolled up, it tends to remain that way. You can put this paper between 2 towels and iron it for it to go back to being flat instead of tending to roll up.But I wish this came laminated. I have to take it to Staples and get it laminated now to preserve it. Else, the edges will get torn easily.
