Q: Does this hitch receiver require drilling for installation?

This hitch does not require drilling to install.

Q: Hardware Rust Protection? The hitch is powder coated, which is great, but hate to have the hardware rust in place.

I haven't had any problem with rust.

Yes it will, installed it on my 2010 CRV. Just a few notes for easier install. Should purchase a die in the correct size to clean out the rusted threaded mounting holes in the cars frame. Note a wire brush just didn't cut it. I tried with wire brush and then tried to install, the torque required made me think the bolt would snap. Purchased a die, cleaned thread of frame. Bolts went in easily and torqued to specifications. Another note, the muffler bracket has to be taken off, and once done, I pulled down on the muffler and blocked it with a piece of wood to maintain clearance to torque bolt. Also purchased the MAXXHAUL 70094 12V Trailer Light Kit (for Trailers Under 80") for the 2010 CRV also fit fine. Good Luck

Q: My bolts are not screwing in because of the rusting inside. Does anyone have any tips ?

I would suggest to first clean the threads with a small round wire brush. A brush on a drill or Dremel type tool would be even better. Next spay some WD 40 or equivalent into the holes at different time intervals. Later a second wire brushing would be good. Now spray some more WD 40 into the holes and screw one of the bolts in (be sure the bolt is started straight) until it gets hard to turn. Back it out a few turns then retighten each time++ going a little further until the bolt goes all the way in. Be sure to not over tighten the bolt and twist it off. It the rust is too bad it may be necessary to clean the threads with a tap from a tap & die set. Just be very sure the tap is the same size as the bolts. Most auto repair shops would have a set and it should not take long to do.
