No sweat
My fiancee and I are all about being outdoors and taking adventures whenever we have the time to.When we learned about the gopro we were all about it..we would finally have something so compact we could document all of our trips and not have to lug around like the rest of our camera equipment. When testing it out, we went to a local waterfall and dipped the camera in to test out the waterproof features. It was fine, except it was so stressful worrying about dropping it, and with all the water activites we do (kayaking, swimming, boating, etc.) and how clumsy both of us are, it's just not worth taking and potentially losing it in the water.I saw the floaty pack and decided it was worth a try.I shipped within the day or two, and we tested it out first in the bathtub..SUCESS! And then went back to the waterfall and tested it..SUCESS, even against the current of the waterfall. So excited to use this when we go to Florida and swim with the manatees in the middle of the ocean next month! We woudlnt be able to do so (and document our experience) without the floaty pack!

Wish it came with a leash, maybe an idea for nextgen Floaty
Great product, but you can still loose a gopro.EVERYONE who buys this product - I recommend going to a local tackle store and buying a steel fishing liter. The one thing that would make this product amazing, would be if they included a leash. So the to ghetto-rig a leash I went out and bought a 12" steel fishing liter (used to catch big ocean fish so they don't bite the line off).I would cut the steel liter down to like 3" - 4". Then I would loop one end of the liter through whatever mount I'm using (chest, head, surfboard, etc.) and loop the other end around the gopro. The bright Red-Orange float will still get lost in big surf that makes big foamy white wash. Do yourself a favor, make a leash. That was if your leash breaks (which it probably wont) you can rely on this floaty as a last line of defense. I wouldn't recommend JUSt using the Floaty as your only safety device. It just isn't big enough to spot.*Keep in mind - I'm only speaking for the people who are using their GoPro to bodyboard/surf/kayak with. I'm sure it'll work fine for snorkeling, scuba, etc. Anything that envolves fast, violent water I wouldn't trust this device alone.

It works :)
This thing follows the Unix philosophy: "do one thing and do it well". It makes the cam float, period. The price tag may seem steep for a piece of foam rubber and a little plastic hatch but while one could probably easily make something like this from gaffa tape and this blistered packing foil for next to nothing, it will never be half as practical nor as good looking.Note I have only taken this snorkeling so far, not diving. As soft as the foam is I could imagine it compressing quite a bit at the 40m the GoPro case is specified for, which would mean you could after all lose your camera deep down there. But if you take it deeper than a few meters, it should probably be strapped to something anyway ...

Pretty much a necessity for any water usage
With my 1st HD2, I just tied on this generic float Chums Waterproof Camera Float through the mounting holes and hopped on the tube and wakeboard without a care. The string broke after a crash and now my camera sits at the bottom of the lake. When I got a replacement, I took it to the pool. No need for a float right? I can just dive down and get it. Unfortunately, the concrete bottom of the pool scratched the heck out of the plastic enclosure lens.My point is, if you're getting the GoPro wet (and you SHOULD!!), you need a floatation solution that isn't going to easily detach. The flaoty back is perfect for the camera itself, but if you're adding an attachment or tripod, I would probably suggest The Bobber - Floating Hand Grip for GoPro® HERO Cameras this heavier duty float.

Works Great!
Started using my GoPro in the water with my kids in the pool and, more nerve racking, the lake for some fun summer time videos. The back was easy to install on the case and the foam floaty stuck right to it. I do not get the impression that the float will pull off easily as some reviews have claimed. Don't get me wrong, I'm certain I could pull it off, but it has survived about 2 hours of pool time with my 3 and 5 year old... it's stuck.Floats well with the camera and the case only. I don't have any fancy mounts or a bat/LCD pak, so I can't speak as to how those fare.I've thrown the camera with quite a bit of force into the pool and it held up and floated straight to the top. Can't wait to try it out at the lake!

Saved my GoPro!!!!!
Oh man was this thing a life saver!! I was out on the lake doing some fishing and just wanted to get a "boat's eye view" as we hauled to our spots. All was well until I clumsily kicked the camera, broke the mount and knocked it straight into the water!! Luckily, for some reason I had my thinking cap on that morning and said to myself, "self, you are dumb and clumsy....it might be good to put this floaty on just in case you knock the camera in the water".....Little did I know just how true that would be!!Needless to say, this works bottom line. SO, if you are doing anything with your GoPro on water, be smart and put a floaty on it!!!

Better than other options
Seems to work pretty good but the adhesive tape was not centered on my foam pad. Other than that it's pretty simple and will stand out clearly being bright orange. When you install it remember to not stick it on the waterproof door to high up or the hinge will hit the floaty pad when you open/close the door. That was my fault in all honesty but once installed it is on there forever. The 3M tape is extremely sticky so be precise when you install it onto the backdoor.

Floaty Backdoor
You get what you pay for. A floaty backdoor. It sticks on (very firmly) to an additional case door sent with it, and does indeed work to keep your GoPro bobbing on the surface and not swimming with the fishies! As the float is squishy I am not convinced the GoPro would make its way back to the surface from great depths (neutral buoyancy achieved once the air is compressed/removed). The deeper I took it the slower it seemed to cruise up through the water column until I was convinced it was just hanging at the same depth. But for splashing on the surface- swimming- kayaking- fishing etc. etc. it is perfect peace of mind that you cannot lose it (to depth anyway). The one negative is the thickness of the float. While providing buoyancy it does limit functionality slightly. Your camera will not sit on the head strap (unless you're happy filming your feet) and the camera has to be squeezed through a tighter gap when removing from the case.Nevertheless a cheap bit of insurance, imo.

Simple. Yet works superbly!
Bought this as I thought it would be a good idea to attach it to the back of my GoPro when I'm out at sea to avoid losing the camera, if it were to come off the mount.I have to say this works absolutely brilliantly! It floats the GoPro, even with a mount+battery BacPac and is still clearly visible with the high-vis orange colour it is coated in.I would recommend this to anyone who does a lot of GoPro filming in/around water - as this could potentially save you an awful lot of money!

Floaty Backdoor
This was an excellent purchase.I bought the item due to loosing my GoPro on a diving trip, luckily it was found. Now when using it around water i use the 'Floaty Backdoor'.It keeps the camera afloat perfectly and the bright orange is easily seen. It is not overly buoyant so can be taken to depth easily and the foam will compact under pressure without damage. The product kept my GoPro afloat inside the dive housing with a lanyard attached as well! Highly recommended! Thanks

Piece of mind.
Stunned by how small this is, but certainly adds piece of mind around water. Myself and a friend used these on a recent water course in Wales although they weren't needed in anger fortunately I did try mine with a gorilla pod attached, it provided enough buoyancy to easily keep both afloat, with enough of the float above the surface to make it easily visible. Def a must for any gopro user intending to use in or around water.

Not sure when I'd use it?
To be honest I purchased this af ew years ago and have never actually used it. It has always been more convenient to use a lanyard or wrist strap and still have sight of the back of the camera. Nothing looks to be wrong with it, I just struggle to see a situation where there is not a better solution
