The Dymo LabelManager 280 is an outstanding machine. The construction is solid with no flimsy parts that may break with normal use. The screen is large, clear, and easy to read. The buttons around the screen have a nice click to them, and the buttons on the main body are rubber and feel solid. The unit feels good in the hands, and even those with smaller hands should have no trouble typing. The cutter is excellent, the best I've seen on any Dymo. It cuts cleanly and doesn't wast a lot of tape on each end. One or two read-throughs of the manual were all it took to learn the machine. It is well-written and will answer any questions. I found the menus easy to understand and navigate. It is rechargeable and comes with a charging cord. I gave it a full charge when I bought it in August, and here it is December and I've not had to recharge it since. I haven't had a chance to link it to a laptop to use the software, because it does everything I need it to do the way it is. Overall this was an excellent buy and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an inexpensive, well-built label maker that will provide years of use. ***I purchased this item myself and I am in no way affiliated with Dymo or Amazon. Got my DYMO LABELMANAGER 280 today! First of all when reading reviews make sure you read the review for the CORRECT LABELER NAME you are looking at buying. All reviews for all labelers are on the same page so be careful when taking reviews into consideration. FONTS-I saw a lot of people in other reviews expected 20 different fonts on the labeler. It says in description “font styles” this is NOT the same thing as fonts like the 100s you can choose from on Microsoft Word. There are only 3 different types of fonts on the labeler titled “Basic” “Fun” and “Serif”. You can also choose Bold, Italics or Underline and the sizes come in 8,10,12,16,20 and 24 pt size. You cannot review what these look like on the screen before printing though only when they print. You can also print vertically. I posted a photo of samples of the 3 different fonts. IN BOX- I received the labeler, a dymo label cassette (black print on white), the usb cord to print from computer and the adapter to plug into labeler and wall to charge the battery NOT to power the labeler on. The labeler also had a protective film over the screen which was nice! Along with an instruction booklet. IMPORTANT!- before you even touch the labeler ***READ THE INSTRUCTIONS*** I feel like this is where a lot of people went wrong and had issues with the labeler in the other reviews because they did not read the booklet and what the company advised. I posted a photo of what each button is on the labeler also from the booklet It says in the booklet the battery SHOULD come half charged (this was not the case for me but that wasn’t a big deal at all) I noticed when I put battery in and tried to turn it on it popped up “charge battery” so I plugged it up and left it alone for about an hour. After that I unplugged it and it powered up just fine with a fully charged battery and the printing began! DOES NOT WASTE TAPE like the brother brand seems to and the tape cassettes I believe are just as much, I actually ordered some colored tape that were $8/cassette that go with this labeler so I’m excited to try those! Of course I’ve only had this a day so I will update my review if anything changes but I struggled getting this product based on others reviews and issues but decided to take a chance anyways. Also if you are not using the labeler for a while then REMOVE THE BATTERY to preserve its life :) I hope others who are struggling like me find this review helpful to them! I have not tested this on printing from computer yet because we receive our new one tomorrow so I will after that and update on the turn out from that. This labeler is a very decent size as shown in my photo the keypad fits comfortably in my hand and not too heavy and also cuts the tale very smoothly.

I borrowed a Dymo label maker from my work to label some things around my garage / work bench. I immediately experienced the value of putting my name on my belongings. I was so pleased with the label maker I borrowed that I attempted to purchase it on Amazon. I quickly discovered that the model I had used was discontinued but saw good things about this model. I received this label maker and was surprised at the size and weight but not in a disappointing way. It really felt like quality. I skimmed through the instructions before tossing them to the side, inserting the batteries and typing my first label. It was extremely easy and I was able to pick up where I had left off with the previous label maker. If you are looking for an extremely small or pocket-sized label maker then you might want to look elsewhere. This label manager is really meant more for desktop application but is certainly small enough to carry around and doesn't require a wire once the batteries are in. All of the features are clearly accessible from the main keypad and there are only a few "hotkeys" taking you to sub-menu's but it seems to be well thought out. I haven't used the USB computer tethering to print as I don't have a need for that but it's great to know that it's there when I do. The carrying case is perfect. It holds the label maker, cords, extra spools of tape and has plenty of room for extra's. I would definitely recommend this label maker for anyone that wishes to have all of the possibilities at their fingertips while still having a unit they can carry around or leave on their desk for quick access.

I like that it is easy to carry and use, and can print directly from the computer (even from Word and Excel) battery life is good I dislike that Arabic printing can be done from Word and Excel only and need to adjust margins I am using for home and for some hobbies.

Good unit complicated at first can do many label styles.
