Light weight and works better than I expected!
I live in Phoenix on an acre parcel and most of it is in desert landscape. Therefore no formal lawn to mow. Yaaa. However when it rains here the weeds grow, well like weeds. Fast and furious. This year we had lots of rain and lots of weeds. I've been running a battery powered weed eater every day for a week or so. My back is aching from twisting sideways back and forth so it was time to look for a better solution. I figured how about a small battery powered lawn mower and then I found this thing at about half the cost. So figuring I'd probably junk it after a couple tries I decided to give it a try. Really glad I did. Soon as it arrived I put it together and out I went. It had just rained again and everything was wet but I had to try it. Worked perfectly. Knocked down and chewed up everything I ran it over and no extra back pain as a bonus. I charged up the batteries( comes with 2) overnight and set out to do a good cleanup the next day. This thing is a real delight. It runs about 20 minutes on each battery and since the batteries are fairly small you can carry the spare one in your pocket. another thing about the batteries is the way they eject from the tool. Push the button on the battery and it pops out of the tool's battery compartment. I mention this because removing the battery from my other "green" weed eater is a real chore You have to push in 2 tabs, one on each side of the battery, and forcibly pull it from the tool. My wife can't even manage doing it and I barely can, often resorting to prying it loose with a screwdriver while pushing the tabs with both hands. The black and decker baterries just eject with 1 hand by pushing the button, I love it. When you get close to a fence or wall and the platform won't get close enough, the weed wacker removes from the deck instantly by stepping on a lever on the deck and lifting the handle of the weed wacker forward and up. To return it back in the deck reverse the process, simple and easy. Keep in mind this is a regular string trimmer. It is not a bladed lawn mower and does not do the job of a bladed lawn mower It is a string trimmer on wheels. because you push it similar to vacuming a carpet , front and back, front and back, instead of constantly twisting sideways it doesn't put the strain on your arms and back liike a regular string trimmer does. It does not mulch as fine as a mower would and if you have tall weeds or grass as I did you will need to make several passes, as you would with any string trimmer except you don't have to hold it up, just push it back and forth. I have not had to replace the line yet so I cannot comment on that, except to say looking at it, it looks like the exact same process as the other 2 trimmers I have. To clear the bottom of the deck I simply remove the trimmer and wash out the deck with a hose. its been coated with wet grass almost every time I finish. I'm sure dry shorter vegetation will cut much easier. I'm cutting damp weeds and bermuda grass about knee high. The deck is light weight plastic but seems durable enough. If the deck should deteriorate and I have to replace it, the replacement cost of the set is about the same as a different manufacture's string trimmer alone. but I'll worry about that if it happens. so far I have no regrets whatsoever.

Below are my thoughts on each feature
I bought this unit because I needed a small, lightweight mower that I could transport back and forth to my mom's house. I'm happy it came with two battery packs but it turns out my job is small enough that I only need one. So far, this little guy fit my needs; I can lift it with one hand and use it as a trimmer and edger. Below are my thoughts on each feature: MOWER This was my primary concern. I only have to mow a very small patch of lawn. It's brand new grass, but it's grown so long. That said, the mower did well on areas that it trimmed; but rows of grass got pressed flat by the wheels, so those blades did not get cut by the trimmer. I wouldn't blame the mower for that, because I can't see that any mower could reach blades that are lying flat. I suppose as the grass blades thicken up and stand up better, I will have less problem with that. What I did in the interim was mow like I was pushing a vacuum cleaner with one hand while raking the grass blades upright with the other. The blades that were cut were even to the ground but they look somewhat swirled. The platform can be adjusted but that's nowhere to be seen in the manual. I only knew about it because of a sticker placed on the platform, but it's not immediately clear how to do that. You have to reach under and pull the axle. There is only low and high and it comes set on high. I like the default setting. The handle also telescopes. That is not in the instructions, either, but I played around with it, figuring there's no way they only want short people to use this thing. Basically, you unlock the handle like you want to tilt the head but instead, pull the handle out. TRIMMER Changing from mower to trimmer to edger and back is super quick and easy. It's one of the best things about this combo. The trimmer action itself is superb. I have no complaints. EDGER Ditto for the edger. It converts easily from edger to trimmer and vice versa, and it cuts like a dream. OVERALL IMPRESSION Because I have to push like a vacuum cleaner, I wouldn't recommend this as a mower for large areas. That would be too inefficient. Small areas like what I have are fine. The trimmer/edger works like any other trimmer/edger, so if you want something primarily for trimming/edging, I highly recommend this unit.

Great Little Mower and Trimmer!
This little baby is a great item. It snaps in and out easily. It isn't heavy. Best time to use it is when the grass is DRY and not too long . It is easier for clean up and it comes out nicer also not much debris grass to drag in house. I only have a little spot I use it for. it does work correctly for that. The batteries hold a ok charge for what I use it for. about 20 minutes per battery. It does depend on what your doing with it ,you may get more out of them. I struggle with mobility so I go a little slower .I also take advantage of the wheels and let it do the walking. I do clean mine up before a put it away. Corded tools are more of a struggle for me because of disability issues so this thing has worked well. I do have guys that help me but until they get here I Love that I can wheel this little baby out and get the little area where I need done. Also for the most part the line feed works well. Keep spare Line spools handy so you can pop one in when your run out.

'm really impressed with this Black and Decker cordless lawn mower! It’s a great little tool that’s absolutely perfect for my needs. I don’t have a lot of grass in my front and back yard, so I didn’t need anything too heavy-duty. This compact, all-in-one device is ideal — it’s easy to maneuver, doesn’t take up much storage space, and makes quick work of my lawn. The cordless feature is a huge plus. No more dealing with tangled cords or worrying about being close to an outlet. The battery is surprisingly strong and usually lasts long enough for me to finish mowing both yards. On days when the grass is a bit longer or thicker, I sometimes need to swap out the battery for a second one, but that’s a minor inconvenience considering the overall ease of use. If you have a small to medium-sized yard and want something that’s efficient, lightweight, and low-maintenance, I highly recommend this mower!

If you have anything but a SMALL yard, and intend for this to be your principle lawnmower, better think again. The batteries don't last long enough, and the cutting circumference isn't large enough for this product to be truly effective for even two medium-sized yards (assuming front and back). That being said, this product is fantastic in many ways. It is lightweight, maneuverable and extremely versatile. It transforms from a mini-mower to a weed-whacker and back again in seconds, without having to bend down. Just quick-release the mower housing with the durable foot-pedal and whack away, then snap it right back in with ease. I have a gas mower that I use for most of my lawn, front and back, but this little guy gets into all the hard to reach places and is great for little touch-ups and mowing over dandelions and other pesky things that grow faster than your grass. It's also nice to know that you've got a back-up plan in case your primary lawnmower breaks down. This little mower could now large lawns, it would just take a lot longer, and require more battery charges. So if you do decide to use this mower as your main machine with a bigger property, consider buying more batteries and a charger that can charge multiple batteries at once. With enough batteries and time, this diminutive machine could cut a golf course I am sure. If you have a tiny lawn, then you must have this tiny mower. It is super convenient and is surprisingly powerful. Just keep both your batteries charged all the time, and you'll love it. It does everything it claims to do. Five stars.
