Mayes 10187 18 Inch Aluminum Ruler, Lightweight Straight Edge Ruler for Construction, Architecture, Drawing, and Engineering, Accurate and Straight Edge Measuring

This is a great USA Made 18 inch ruler, especially considering the dirt cheap price (under 4 bucks as of this writing). It is made of aluminum which is lightweight, great for artists but it is also pretty soft metal so may not be the best choice for shop use, especially if your are someone who doesn't take great care for their tools. The softness of the metal is actually a benefit if used for layout, especially with a marking knife as it will not damage your marking knife. The lines are thicker and not as precise as in my Starrett combination square, but they are good enough for rough layout, and also MUCH cheaper than a Starrett. This will mostly see use for my art courses, but also in the shop as needed.

It is straight and works great for cutting window film

I needed a ruler that was sturdy, legible, and I could wash over & over for my dough. This works perfectly. I make rectangle hand pies and this is perfect for measuring out the lines for cutting. I also measure the diameter of my pie crusts and this ruler is perfect. Arrived quickly and no damage. Very pleased with the product and seller.

Numbers rub right off. I was showing my husband, who didn’t seem to notice, so I barely rubbed 12. Whoop, there it went. Totally understand you get what you pay for, but what good is a ruler if there are no numbers.

I use this as a golf aide as an alignment stick and to make sure my stance is exactly the same width on each shot. The holes at the end make it a great putting aide as well - if you can keep the ball from falling off the side of the yard stick it means you’re starting your putts on-line. I put some electrical tape on the ends to keep it from scratching my clubs in my bag since the corners are pretty sharp.

I had a wooden yard stick and accidently sat on it and broke it in half. This one is a bit thin but very light and I can't break it in half. I love how the numbers run opposite on each side, so no matter which way I use it the numbers always start at 1. Thanks !
