Awesome, but Be Cautious and Use leave-in Conditioner
I will likely buy this again, but will use it a bit differently. It does a great job lightening hair, but of course dark brown hair has the tendency to turn an orange tint, so be cautious. I pulled thick pieces of hair through the cap, and in the future I would pull thin pieces through (which is difficult to do.) It would have been so much easier to have someone else help me, especially with the back and top of my head. I love that the box includes a purple toner to reduce brassiness, but the toner is completely liquid and very thin, so it runs through your hands. Then it says to NOT rinse out the toner. *problem- this package does not include any conditioner, which is a must for my long hair. After I added the runny toner, I had to add conditioner and then rinse it all out so my hair would be manageable. I wish they combined the purple toner with a conditioner. Next time I'll use a leave-in conditioner after the toner.

A lovely 'pick me up'
Great do it yourself product with rewarding results. I watched lots of videos and read all the reviews I could for tips for success. The cap was not very easy to use, yet the results were worth the effort as I have not highlighted my hair at home before. So I had to use 2 mirrors to see the back and side hole metal hook placement and it was a bit of a stretch to do but good investment of time. Took a couple of hours to complete pulling long hair through every hole. I even stopped and took a break for a bit. Watching how-to videos on YouTube really made a difference in my success. I even watched professionals explain how to start at the front top pulling strands through the cap. Then complete the sides starting from the front to back. Reading the directions and videos helped remind me to start putting lightener on back of head first and away from the roots. Then going back and doing the roots thoroughly. This is because the heat from your head will accelerate the processing and you get more lift at the roots than the ends if you apply the bleach on all parts at the same time. I did order a tool hair bleaching kit that has the thin brush/comb. I recommend using that to make sure every piece of hair you want highlighted is saturated. The formula has great thickness to it and with my long hair I used the entire mixture. I have undyed light brown hair and left the mixture on for an hour for the desired results. It was somewhat unnerving waiting and watching my hair turn orange-ish, then yellow, then perfectly blonde. Hang in there. Don't stop processing too early. That's what worked for me anyway. The leave in toner is terrific but super drippy. It had zero thickness-very watery. So I listened to the reviewer that advised applying toner in the shower. Great tip! So happy with the outcome. Did end up with a couple of very minor "hot root" spots right in front so got some Mineral Infusion Gray Root Concealer medium brown color to 'fix' the oopsy spots-works great! Research "hair mascara" if you want to know more about those type of products. Although it's for covering grey, I like the little presicion wand to fix trouble spots of my highlights. It just looked more appealing to have instead of the spray root touch up. Actually, I'm not sure what they're called but hair is light then dark then light again. So kind of a calico oops. The highlights look beautiful and natural. A lovely pick me up. And, a couple of 'hot roots'/calico places that I will keep covering after each time I wash my hair will serve as a reminder how brave I was, as a newbie, to have highlighted my own hair because of the pandemic.

This is exactly what i wanted.
Since my hair grew back now that i stopped chemo for a while, I wanted to lighten it because it grew in darker, actually much darker than before. I first colored my hair blonde again like it used to be and while I got the color close it was just that one color. It needed some highlights and this did the trick. It comes with the head cap which you need to poke through the hols first to get al the plastic holes open and its much easier to do when it’s not on your head. Then you pull hair strands through the cap. You put the mixture which is somewhat dryer than the color that I had put onto my hair propr to this. I chose to put some watere on it, warm an very lightly for the last 15 minutes and took the cap off and pulled my other hair with a wide tooth comb through with the other hair that had the product and warm water on. It loosened up the product and I feel for my hair personally it needed that little bit of extra umps to ramp it up. I hate my fat face from the chemo drugs so I am not showing a picture and I couldn’t figure out how to take a picture of the back of my hair holding the phone and a mirror so you will just have to picture it yourself. It really did come out very pretty and natural. I hate the smell but its to be expected with hair lightening products. Even when they say it doesn’t have ammonia or other harsh chemicals in it that smell like rotten eggs but sadly they all do . This included but my husband put on the kitchen exhaust fan and the bathroom one that are hooked up to our outside exhaust and it really helped with getting rid of the smell. We then boiled water in a frying pan size pot and allowed 3 sliced up lemons to sit in it for almost 2 hours. That really dissipated the smell. I may just be sensitive to this type of smell because people work around this all day and it doesn't seem to bother them. After all that being said I really feel my hair came out great and I will use it again in the future when this grows out. The price on Amazon plus the fact that its delivered overnight was very reasonable.

Works amazing esp for kids and a cheaper route to highlights!
Honestly for $11 you can’t beat it! My daughter is 9 and always wants blonde hair like mine but I can’t stand how expensive it is for kid highlights. This kit is easy and well worth it. Before and after pics: and I left on for about 33 min, wrapped her head in a towel and blanket for the heat and waited till the yellow fade turned more white before rinsing it. I’d buy it again for sure

Good for the Q-tine
HOOOO lord. This was my first foray into a box kit, something my mother made me swear never to use from the moment I emerged from the womb. Then came the coronavirus. My hair was getting dark, and so was my spirit. I felt like I could fully embrace the statement "It's just hair," so I bravely ordered this L'Oreal kit. I watched a couple of YouTube tutorials in anticipation of the kit's arrival. I felt ready. The cap method is tried and true, and it's pretty foolproof. If you have thick hair, it will take a long time. I got so tired of the process that I didn't do enough of the back of my head (and that's on me). It can be a little uncomfortable pulling the hair through the cap, and I definitely pulled some of my hair out. However, looking at the placement of my highlights after the fact, I can attest that the method is worth it if you are forced to do this at home. Do a test strip like the instructions say so you know exactly how much time your hair needs! Note that this stuff starts working fast. In a salon, they take their time placing the highlights, and it's all good. A home kit is different in my experience. This kit starts working RAPIDLY the moment you apply bleach to the first strand, so don't waste time massaging it into all of those hairs you've plucked so you can get that timer started ASAP. For background, I've gotten my hair done professionally since high school with no exceptions, and I've used top shelf hair care products for a while. Thus my hair was very healthy going into this. My hair handled it like a champ, but there is no question that this bleach was harsher and more drying than what my stylist uses. But the results were so bright and vibrant so I feel it was really worth it. I've since done some deep conditioning and I gave myself a trim, and I think that's helped. Bottom line: if you're a salon regular, a box kit might not be for you. It's not for the faint of heart! I feel like this kit was high risk and high reward though, and I am very picky. My mother reluctantly agreed over FT that my highlights look great. I cannot imagine doing this twice in a row. Maybe some people with thicker/more coarse hair can handle it, but I doubt mine could. I am so glad I did this. I would do it again but only if/when there is another pandemic.
