I love it! Summer 2015, I visited a church in Portland, Maine where a cello was played and the music was beautiful. I heard a soft lovely percussion behind the cello but could not see the drummer. Thus, my exposure to a "Cajon" for the first time. The percussionist kept a nice bass background, and played some soft snare as well. Purchase this with the specifically designed "brush" drum sticks. I am not a drummer, but am learning, as You Tube has a myriad of lessons for free, and anyone who can keep a beat will have a blast with this. I am using it for acoustic recording with my family, including guitar, ukulele, banjo ukulele handmade from Canada (see midnight special.ca) as well as harmonica, triangle, block, and other percussion instruments. As a boy in Carle Place, New York grammar school, the music teacher exposed us, at a very young age, to what it feels like to experience music first hand, experientially as participants, and the lesson was so powerful that I handed it down to my children and now they are doing the same with their children. Mr. Stallone (cousin of Sly) and Mr. Eugene Timpano were the inspiration for me having almost a half century of musical experience and elevation of culture. This Cajon is well made (I searched and searched) and has both me, and my 2 year old grandson seated on it, playing away.

Nice. Came fast and sounds good. Smaller then expected and a very brassy sound.

I love to play with my cajon bongos and my full size cajon. I am not very good but I don't let that stop me from making noise and having a good time. I bought this little guy for times when I want to practice my grooves but when I don't want to break out the bigger boxes. I believe that this is what this small cajon is designed for, practice. I was amazed by how well made this little box is. It has the same quality of construction as my full size cajon. I am able to get a fairly wide range of tones from this cajon. If you have a cajon and would like something to practice with that you can set on your desk this might be something that you should look into. If you don't have a cajon but are thinking about it, this might be a way to try one out without spending too much. I love this little thing and have even purchased some for gifts.

This would make a great novelty gift for a devoted Cajon musician. However, I could make similar music with household recyclable containers. It's just too small to be anything special. My recommendation is to buy the full sized Cajon.

I actually meant to order a full sized version of this and clearly did not read the specs, so I was quite surprised to receive this min version. If I could leave some feedback, I would say that for those people who, like me, do not read the specs all the time...it would be helpful to put the word "mini" or something like that in the title. However, having said that, my daughter loves it and it seems like good quality. Now that I have the product in my possession, and I can see the description that I didn't read (lol) ...it's exactly as described. Great product, that's why I give it five stars- I can't hold it against the seller because of my oversight.

I was expecting to get a quality product from this manufacture. What I received was not even a toy. It sounded awful. Not a real snare on the inside and there is very little distinction on where you hit the front board. I can’t even say that I want to keep this around to goof around with because it sounds so bad. Save your money, this is a piece of garbage.

This cajon is AWESOME!! I purchased it for use by senior citizens in small ensemble, and they LOVE it! The range of sounds the instrument produces is surprisingly rich and varied for something so small. The snares are surprisingly reactive and add a lot of character to the sound. While this mini cajon suits my needs to a tee, this model is not appropriate for large or loud groups; it would get lost in the din. But for smaller needs, this is a fabulous investment!

Been a drummer for 10+ years and i am slightly disappointed by the quality of sound produced by this cajon. The sounds you can make with this cajon are limited. not very loud or deep quality of sound. The part of the cajon where you hit doesn't flex much, so it's almost like you are just hitting a wooden box. This cajon does serve its purpose tho, as long as you are using this for solo jamming or playing along with music on your own. The sound quality, depth and bass, volume is not good enough to be a part of a band or to be used in a performance of any sort. This is a fine, personal jamming piece. not much more. You really can get a deeper sound by hitting a cardboard box, but this metal chain on the inside of the cajon will give you a more snare like sound.

Ho acquistato questo mini cajon Meinl per due motivi. Il primo, principale, è che pur suonando la batteria, il cajon è per me uno strumento del tutto nuovo, e quindi prima di fare un acquisto più impegnativo come dimensioni e prezzo mi interessava capire meglio di cosa si trattasse. Il secondo motivo, meno rilevante, è il fatto che al momento dell'acquisto stavo partendo per una vacanza e quindi avrei avuto il tempo per studiare lo strumento, ma non lo spazio per trasportare un cajon standard. Appena arrivato il prodotto, ho verificato l'adeguatezza del packaging e direi che il giudizio è positivo perché la confezione e la protezione interna dovrebbe preservare il contenuto nel corso la spedizione. Il cajon arriva dentro una seconda scatola oltre al pacco Amazon, che lo avvolge e lo protegge ulteriormente. Allegato c'è l'immancabile libretto che illustra tutti i prodotti Meinl. Essendo "mini", ci si deve per forza adattare alle dimensioni davvero ridotte di questo strumento. Basta guardare le immagini caricate con la recensione per rendersi conto di quanto è più piccolo di un cajon tradizionale: circa 1/6. Dopo averlo utilizzato per un po' di tempo, in base alla mia esperienza, le caratteristiche da tenere in considerazione sono: La resa sonora: è sicuramente limitata rispetto ad un cajon tradizionale, il range sonoro è ridotto ed i suoni hanno un volume basso. Quindi non è pensabile di suonare questo strumento in un gruppo musicale. Questo non significa che si tratti di uno strumento-giocattolo: con i giusti accorgimenti e con una tecnica modificata, si riesce a tirare fuori una buona gamma di suoni. La tecnica: non si può usare tutta la superficie della mano come col cajon tradizionale. Va invece usata principalmente l'estremità della mano che parte immediatamente sotto le dita. Così facendo si riesce a produrre suoni differenti, anche se inizialmente bisogna fare attenzione a non far suonare la cordiera ad ogni colpo. La maneggevolezza: rispetto ad un cajon tradizionale è più complicato tenere saldo per suonare correttamente questo mini-cajon. Dopo qualche sessione di allenamento comunque si riesce a trovare la propria impostazione. In ogni caso sono presenti quattro piedini di gomma alla base dello strumento per migliorare la presa quando appoggiato su una superficie liscia. In conclusione credo che sia ovvio aspettarsi un range sonoro limitato in uno strumento così piccolo. La sonorità è comunque equilibrata rispetto alle sue proporzioni e in ogni caso la maneggevolezza ed il costo davvero contenuto rendono questo mimi-cajon davvero immediato e divertente da suonare.

Pareciera que por el tamaño no dará el sonido que buscas pero suena increíble. Obviamente hay que saber tocarlo y si se requiere, colocarle un micrófono aparte pero cumple perfecto su función. La calidad no se diga! Es lo suficientemente rígido para soportar a una persona (delgada) sentada sobre él pero lo recomendado es colocarlo en medio de las piernas. Me encantó!

Caution, this drum is indeed a mini Cajon, the build quality and little sound is good but it is as the title suggests... Mini! Also the need for feet on it is minimal as it is too small to sit on. Al in all it will serve its purpose as a mini Cajon.
