New Balance Men's 990 V5 Running Shoes

These New Balance 990 V5s are incredibly comfortable right out of the box. Excellent cushioning, solid support, and top-tier build quality make them perfect for long walks or all-day wear. They feel durable, stable, and breathable, and the fit is spot-on. Definitely a premium shoe that lives up to the hype.

Best New Balance shoes I’ve bought. Long lasting and comfortable. I’ve had this ones for a few years and they’re my go to shoes for traveling. Great quality! Would buy them again when replacing this ones.

So far the only ones I found that fit well after several foot surgeries. After many others first, I tired on the v4 of this model at the PX and they were almost the right size but could have stood being a size wider; sad because they were a screaming deal. I look on here and that version was getting horrible ratings though, so I bought 1700v1's and those actually were horrible, sent 'em right back. So I looked up more walking shoes and between the time it took to order and return the 1700's, Amazon was listing these new v5's and the handful of reviews were promising, saying they were better than the v4's. That's hard for me to to tell, but it does seem these are made a little better --and they damn well ought to be given the price-- because these cost as much as the top of the line running shoes they made 20 years ago when I was a runner, shoes I couldn't afford then. But with all the surgeries I've had and problems I've had finding shoes that not only fit but are comfortable, I gotta say I scored with these. There's room for my thick custom insoles and still enough room for my feet to lace up comfortably. So far I like 'em and can't complain and they even look nice. Certainly way better than those 1700's for sure.

I have always liked the 990 series, but recently, they have stopped making them in "all black" for some reason. These are great shoes, but expensive. The fact they are made in the USA is "one" of the primary reasons for purchasing them. This had a major impact on my purchase, but not the only reason. They are very comfortable. I do a lot of walking (15K steps a day) in my line of work, so I need a shoe I can depend on, and these fit the bill perfectly. My only gripe, that needs to seriously be addressed by New Balance, is the fact they have stopped making them in all black. Again, in my line of work, It is required that we wear black shoes (it looks more professional with our uniforms), and any reflective silver or grey insignias look out of place. Recently, I had not choice but to purchase the black/silver combination of the 990 V5, as the all black version is not currently being sold. I really like the 990 series (on my 4th purchase), but If I cannot purchase the all black series on my next time around (approx next year), i will, sadly, have to look elsewhere, which probably means a shoes made in China. I have a wide shoe size so my choices are limited. I have bought New Balance for years being that they make the 4E wide size I need. I usually buy their imported sneakers for about $40 but they would only last about three months or so before the sole would start to come apart. I decided to try these new Balance that were made in the USA. They were more cost but right out of the box you tell the difference in craftsmanship. I put them on and although the cheaper ones were comfortable, the fit and finish on these USA made ones felt and looked great, better than the rest. The fit is very comfortable, there are no squeaks or sole noises when you walk and they support my heavy frame (240 pounds). I love these and the fact they are made in the USA is worth the extra money for what you get.

This is for the NB 990 V5 and like the V4 is a high quality and comfortable running shoe. I use it for daily 3 mile power walks with some jogging, and really like. Very good side support and decent cushioning. It doesn't seem to me to have quite as much structural cushioning support as the V4 in the ball of foot even though I replaced the "improved" cushion insert with a gel cushion. Actually it is so similar to the V4, I really couldn't tell much difference at all. But for me, I need good side/lateral support as I have a semi weak ankle, and these NB 990 series are the best support I could find and I've been using them for years now. And another plus, although for me not critical, is they are a very stylish shoe and could easily be worn as casual shoes for day to day activities when out and about. Another New Balance hit!!!

Needed a new pair of golf shoes and New Balance is the answer for wide feet. Fit great with water proof. Couldn't ask for more.

I walk at least 5 miles a day every day at a brisk pace (about 4 MPH/15 minute miles). I've put about 40 miles on these so far and they've been great - lightweight and comfortable. They're the 3rd pair of walking/hiking shoes I've tried for replacing some old Columbia hiking shoes and the only ones that I've kept. The other 2 pairs were Keen and Merrell. Not knocking those brands. I've owned both in the past and they've been fine. Maybe my feet have changed as I've gotten older. Not sure these would be the best shoes for runners, but for walking, I don't think I'll find anything better.
