The absolutely best cordless phone I've ever used (and I have bought a lot of them).
My mother-in law is hard of hearing (90 years old), so I considered this phone for her. It turned out she got a closed caption phone instead, but here's the surprise. We added this phone to our network - so we have both Uniden and this Panasonic cordless phone. Guess what. She can hear us better when we talk to her on the Panasonic - the sound quality is better in both directions. I recommended this to a friend of mine for his father (90+) and it was a night and day difference for my friend's father. He can talk on the phone again. The phone is easy to use. It has one of the best displays I have ever seen. The programming system is clever. You can do the menu thing to set it up, but if you're willing to use a few shortcuts, you can enter programmings much faster (although not recommended for the technology-challenged among us). So here's the best recommendation I can give. I'm buying more of them today. I have searched high and low for a quality cordless phone and Panasonic has hit a home run with this one. As another example of their fine engineering: It uses two normal AAA Ni-mh batteries. How nice! Years from now when I need to replace the batteries, I just need to pop in some regular cells purchased almost anywhere. No hunting for battery packs of questionable quality on eBay! Thank-you Panasonic. Here's another clever thing they did. When the power goes out, the base quits working (because it's plugged in) and your phones quit working. There are some models where you can buy a battery pack for the base. But Panasonic had a smarter idea. Use the batteries in the phone. If a charged phone is left in the base and the power goes out, the base will still run using the batteries in the phone. Clever to add a feature like that without adding cost. Genius! Even if you do not have hearing problems, I think you'll appreciate this phone. I don't have hearing loss, but I really appreciate good audio, convenient features, and well-designed easy-to-use products. And this phone hits the mark. One other point - the range is excellent. We always had limits in our house with the 5 GHz Unidens. Not so with this phone. I have the base unit in the basement (not the best place for the radio) and I have complete coverage of the house as well as a couple of my neighbors. It sits right next to my wireless router and I have no problems with either of them. Excellent RF design! Battery life is excellent. It can go a week without charging, no problem. A clever thing they do is light up an amber indicator to let you know (from a distance) that the phone is charging. So it's easy to tell that A) the charger is plugged in; and B) the phone needs some charge. Now for the cons and maybe you can help me. The headset and speaker built into the phone are excellent. But I have not been able to find a headset that is anywhere close to the quality of the phone itself - and I really like to use a headset. Price is not object. I want a headset that is equal to the sound quality of this phone. I've bought dozens of them, many from "big names" and have always been disappointed. Any recommendations on a good headset? Thanks for reading. I hope this review helps you and you have the same experience I have. I have an engineering background, and there are not many consumer products I have purchased where I have been so impressed by the thought, the skill, and the consideration of the customer as this product. If I were on their development team, this would be a product I would be very proud of. Chris

Great phones with features that help the elderly.
I purchased this phone set to replace another Panasonic phone set. The previous Panasonic phones still worked after several years however there seemed to be some inconsistency in their performance. So I research Amazon and found this new phone set. First let me give some background information. My parents are the primary users of these phones. They are in their 80s. My Dad has hearing issues. Also, they are of the generation that will never cut the land line off. The land line is their life line so I really needed to find a good cordless phone for them. PROS: 1. Great sound! Not only can my parents hear better on these phones, I can hear them much clearer and louder when I am talking to them. Before, sometimes the phone would 'cut out' on my end. I'm not sure what it was but with the old phones, what I would hear from them would not be at a consistent volume level. It would fade in/out. That is no longer an issue with these new phones. When I call them and they answer, I can hear them loudly and clearly. This is great especially when I call them from my car and they are on my blue tooth. I'm not sure what it is called but the new digital technology in these phones really make the calls crisp and clear. 2. Talking Caller ID. This is great! My folks can hear who is calling without having to look at the phone. 3. Call Block. You can set up the phone to block calls from 'Out of Area' or 'Unknown'. This is a nice feature for my folks as they are bombarded by telemarketers. If someone calls, and you don't want to hear from them again, just set up a 'filter' and those calls will no longer through. The phone intercepts them and then disconnects the call. 4. Large display screen. The screen on this phone is huge! Almost 2". I think 1.9" to be exact. The letters and numbers are large and easy to read. 5. Large numbers and buttons. The buttons on these phones are very huge. This makes it easy for my folks to dial a number. On the old phones, the numbers were kinda small. 6. Battery life. These phones can hold a charge up to 11 days. This is great! My folks always complained that the old phones would not hold a charge. I think the batteries were going bad in the old phones as they were very old. Regardless, having a longer battery life is great! Also, the phone tells you 'Charge for 7 hours' when it is time to charge. When charging a big yellow LED on top lets you know when it is charging. Once it is done, the light goes out. So that is a plus too as my folks always are wanting to know when the charging is done. 7. Remote voice mail checking. If my folks are gone or if I need to check their messages, I can do that remotely as they are times when they don't know to check the voice mail messages. The phone will tell you that you have messages but my folks don't always remember how to get their messages. CONS: 1. The only one is sometimes it is difficult for my folks to check the Caller ID and see who has called. To do that you have to hit the 'left' arrow then hit the 'up' or down' arrow to scroll through the callers. I'm not sure this is so much a CON as just it is difficult for my folks to understand this. Overall, this is a great phone set. I got the model with 2 handsets but I think you can add more. I would highly recommend these phones. They are great!

Good Phone, But Website Description of Amplified Sound Does Not Match Box Description
My mother-in-law has been using Clarity phones, but I have found their reliability spotty and so was looking for an alternative. I have had a set of Panasonic phones for a long time and really like them and so was excited to see the listing for these Panasonic phones saying that it has Amplified Sound. The fact that this phone also has equalizer settings and especially the fact that this is categorized under " Medical Supplies & Equipment -› Daily Living Aids -› Visual Impairment Aids -› Big Button & Amplified Telephones" made me believe I was buying a phone that was amplified for hearing impaired. From other reviews, that seems what others are expecting as well. I saw that some said that it was not any louder than a regular phone, but I thought maybe that they got a bad unit and went with what the categorization and description was conveying. When I received the phone, looking at the box, there is no where on any of the sides that actually say "Amplified". The main description of the phone is "Panasonic DECT 6.0 Plus KX-TG6592 Digital Cordless Answering System". There is nothing in the bullet items on the front that mention amplification. On the back there is a bullet item for Loud Receiving Volume, but I was led to believe from the website description that this phone would have extra amplification similar to other hearing impaired phones and could be dialed much louder than a normal phone. In testing it, it was absolutely no louder than my existing Panasonic. It is a clear, good sounding phone like my current phone, but it just does not have extra amplification. I think a lot of other reviewers like the speakerphone, but it was just the same as my other phone's speakerphone. I think Panasonic phones have good speakerphones and so people are attributing that to the speakerphone being designed for hearing impaired. I gave four stars as I like Panasonic phones and this looks to be the same quality as what I have and I didn't want to dock too much for a wrong description, but I hope others are helped by knowing what is actually listed on the box and don't order this phone thinking it has extra amplification. Looks like I will have to go with Clarity again - they have a new DECT 6.0 model so hopefully that works out better than the 5.8 GHz one we had.

fantastic product---finally i found it
finally a panasonic phone that works like when they used to-----first, don't worry about the word amplified---the only thing that i noticed was clear good sound whether on speaker phone or regular. second, don't worry about size, is it bigger, yes but it feels solid in your hands and you shouldn't have to worry about dropping it like those other panasonic and 'whatever' phones that are out there. i have been through a bunch of panasonic, v-tech and other phones for years, none lasting over a year,---(because of me) in fact at one time i returned a panasonic phone to panasonic themselves, they in turn returned it to me saying that it was working fine, so being a nice guy i sent it back and said keep it if that's the best you can do--and ate the cost, money down the drain. originally i was waiting for the siemans phone to catch up with technology, i don't think that will happen. i had the 7644, with cell phone etic,,, it worked, not good but it worked, just like all the others. ---panasonic is the leader in cordless phones, software is amazing, but they are horrible when it comes to sound quality---except till the 6592--that has been around for some time i only hope that they never discontinue this model or change it because this is a telephone feels solid, keys are big enough, able to see everything on lcd (not like my last v-tech, only 6 months ago), software is easy, set up, a pleasure ---no cell phone bluetooth connections--- ( you really don't need it)---- this is a great house phone with all the features that you will ever need, hopefully you want small and petite, then use a cell phone, house phones are supposed to made so you can find them when they ring and hold up to some abuse and sound like a real phone used to lastly, if you look at other panasonic, v-tech, at&t and others--they are all approximately. the same size--so one could assume that it's all the same circuit board with all the same 'chips' and only the software is changed for individual companies----interesting if that is true (no comment) not this baby---totally different from all other phones-- you will not, i repeat will not, be disappointed with this phone now---i hope i didn't jinx myself by writing this review ---do not want anything bad to happen to my phone

Works for everyday use, for a person with normal hearing, but is much too quiet for someone with hearing loss
I purchased this phone to be used by my grandmother whose hearing is quickly going. She has hearing aids, but even with them in often has a difficult time hearing people on the phone. After reading other reviews here and other places, I decided to give this phone set a try. Pros: Set up is straight forward and quick, albeit I did need to use the manual to learn to program the answering machine. Answering machine is built in. The numbers are large and easy to see on both the keypad and LCD screen. Signal appears to be strong and gives a decent range. Voice quality is on par with other landline phones. The secondary charging center does not need to be located where a phone line is. Either phone can be placed on either charger (the base with answering machine or secondary charger). No weird sounds when used with a hearing aid. Cons: Needing this for someone with hearing loss, the volume was way too low for it to be helpful to my grandmother. For everyday use, for a person with normal hearing, I would highly recommend this phone. However, for a person with hearing loss, this might not be the choice for you. I had to return the phones and seek another phone with a higher sound level.

Love This Phone, Mate
I had an older cordless phone system that slowly died. The remote units became increasingly unable to detect the base unit. Unfortunately for me, that's the same 'symptom' that phone showed when its batteries were getting old, so I wasted a months getting and trying to use replacement batteries. That was spectacular failure. So it was off to Amazon to find a replacement. I spent what seemed like an inordinate amount of time searching through listings for a phone system that had headset jacks on all the handsets. I'm almost always doing something else while I'm talking on the phone and using a headset is the only way to fly for me. Sadly, the trend is to eliminate the headset jacks on the handsets because all phones have a speakerphone function, which accomplishes somewhat the same goal. Not exactly the same goal, but hey, it's close enough for government work, yeah? I don't like introducing the other noise in my environment to my caller, nor do I particularly like introducing whomever else might be around to my caller. Obviously, a headset accomplishes that. Design-wise, just looking at these phones, I'd say they look a little dated - as in maybe from a couple of design iterations ago. That's not a criticism, just an observation. Hey, an E-type Jaguar looks dated, but it's still one of the best looking auto designs out there. But getting beyond the looks and the design, how do the darn things work? So far for me, the answer is that they're great phones. I have no complaints. Calls are clear and stable and I love having a measure of tone and volume control at the handset to help make calls as clear as possible. The keyboard is big enough for my Homer Simpson-sized fingers, which I appreciate. I'm using them with a VOIP provider and they interface perfectly. One bonus for anyone that's gone through the search for replacement batteries on a cordless phone system - this one runs on rechargeable AAA batteries. Those are incredibly easy to find. And they have frikkin' jacks for my headsets. What's not to like? I'm actually going to order a couple more of this system to have tucked away for when this system eventually heads to the wireless phone black hole that they all seem to end up in. I like it that much.

Worst answering machine on a cordless phone - DO NOT BUY!
I bought this cordless phone with answering machine to replace an AT&T one that I had had for several years. Before ordering the Panasonic (whose products have always served me well), I read dozens of reviews on Amazon.com as well as elsewhere. I chose this phone because the speakerphone on my previous one was barely audible. Well, the Panasonic's speakerphone works very well. But there are two very serious problems with the phone. (1) When the phone dials an outside number, it would emit this horrendous, high pitched, electronic screeching that is almost unbearable to the ear. (2) The answering machine is totally useless. For reasons that are not obvious to me, most (though not all) of the messages left on the machine are incomprehensible, even ones I've called in to my own phone. Initially I thought this problem had to do with certain friends whose cell phones were not "compatible" with my answering machine. But recently I did a test by calling my home from my cell phone in my car. Even knowing what I had said, I could hardly understand the message I left for myself on the answering machine. Unfortunately, I kept the phone too long before opening up the box to set up the phone. So it's past the deadline for return. DO NOT buy this phone because it would be a complete waste of money. Completely.

Solved My Phone Call Hearing Frustrations
My previous Panasonic cordless phone was in service well past its anticipated service years and my hearing frustrations increased as my hearing loss became more serious. After about 2 weeks of on-line research, questioning the technical departments of amplified cordless phone manufacturers, and talking to present users of amplified phones, I bought this phone with an answering system about 2 months ago. Very wise decision for me as I am totally satisfied with the ease of operation and performance of this very high quality system. The enclosed user's manual is easy to understand and if you take time to read it and follow the instructions, the system is easy to program. The phone and base enclosed answering system offer some features which I do not use, but they are very easy to 'turn off'. The adjustments for loudness and the tuning for the individual's particular hearing loss frequencies are easy to adjust and now I hear without realizing I have a fairly serious hearing loss. The cordless phone is light and easy to hold. The back-light and large numbers and printing adds to the ease of operation. The built-in speaker can be adjusted for volume and is very clear. I did purchase the Panasonic KX-TCA400 Over The Head Headset as some of my calls get lengthy and that frees my hands and mobility. The built-in speaker may have provided the same freedom, but the very comfortable headset is an excellent buy for the price. I'm very satisfied with this headset. There was only one other brand name amplified phone manufacturer that came a little close to this Panasonic phone in quality, features and price. But a really close comparison clearly indicated Panasonic has a superior amplified phone system. I can highly recommend this phone.
