Make sure the index plate does not slip off the bushing of the head stock.
The lathe itself is excellent. It's solid as a rock and a ton of fun. I really appreciate the indexing head. I did have an issue when assembling the head stock. The index plate slipped out of the bushing which was not allowing it to rest on the table correctly. BE CAREFUL. If you try to tighten the head down to the table you may damage the soft material of the bushing. Customer Support was quick to help and I was able to turn the head stock upside down and re position the index plate and the bushing. Turning it back over was tricky but I managed. Crisis avoided and am now a happy turner!

Powerful and well-made
Good for bowls up to 14” over the bed, larger if the headstock is rotated. Speed range isn’t great, but it is adequate. Very solid when properly set up and leveled. I was disappointed that the speed can only be changed when the lathe is running. Runs quiet (240 vac power). Very happy with the purchase.

Amazing lathe but do not order from acme tool!
As always jet is amazing and stands behind thier product ive been turning for 6 years and have owned nothing but jet lathes. However if you order this from amazon do not go through Acme Tools, when it arrived it was dented and the tailstock waa dented and non functional along with the wire box on the headstock which was sheared off. They have refused any sort of partial refund past 500 which wouldnt even cover parts. The only option they offer is a return and refund which if you look at thier reviews doesnt always happen.

Love mine
I have only had the lathe for a little while. Set up was fairly easy. Works great. I have turned some 6 to 10 inch bowls so far and really enjoying it.

Not a good experience.
First of all, the banjo cracked while outboard turning in the first week. Probably because 400 rpm minimum speed is dangerously fast for some projects. It vibrates the machine all over the place. Also, the belt snapped in week 2 and the knob for changing the speed is a sad design. Save your money and buy something with more control over speed.

Very well built equipment.
Just getting started in wood turning and it was easily set up and ran perfect from the start. Very easy to make adjustments and the motor is much quieter than I would have imagined.

Meh.
Save up a little more and buy a better lathe. I bought this lathe a few years ago (my first). It's ok, but could be alot better. Under powered, bogs down while turning. Vibrates alot. Lowest rpms are 400. After looking at other lathes, this one seems to stand higher than the rest. There is nothing out there (YouTube, or forums) on this lathe. Really it's not a bad beginner lathe. But I think it's over priced. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely save up and buy a better/heavier lathe.

High Quality Prouduct
Love the lathe, Plenty of power, Love the swing head stock for my bowls, Quality product Fast shipping. The only thing I really don't like is the variable speed doesn't go low enough 400 rpm, for some things is not low enough. Other than that it is awesome.
