I find this hat better than expected, based on the description and the way it was presented in the listing, and I find the quality for the cost to be better than expected. I bought the option with three hats, which is what made it so economical. I've been wearing one, my wife wears the second, and the third is in a drawer for backup. If I don't loose mine, which is actually why I bought three--I leave hats in restaurants too often, these should last longer than average (not sure what average is since I loose hats before I have to throw them away, but these seem better made than most). Oct 23 update: I have one left! Gave one a way, lost one, and am trying to hang on to the last one. It is "sunscreen" for my dome when I swim (Caribbean, often!) and so it has been in the ocean a lot and the washing machine just as often. Not a single thread has come loose, the material has not thinned, and it is only a little bit faded (sun, sea, and soap should have done more damage, I would think, so this is good).

This hat is lightweight and is super comfortable. It’s not so wide that it is awkward like some of the hats I’ve seen. Once you put it on you don’t even feel it on your head, but it’s doing a good job protecting you from the sun. I would definitely recommend this hat.

I have another of these sunhats from a different brand, partially synthetic and much more sturdy -- but not as cute as this hat. This one has a slouchy, distressed, weathered look that just appeals to me, and a brim that seems sufficient for some eye protection but is not particularly generous, if that matters to you. Again, I'd say this is a form vs. function thing and the hat is more attractive for not sticking out as far as an umbrella, but I might feel differently after a day under the hot sun. As I write this, it's still just April. It's cool, because 100% cotton, other than the mesh ventilation panels. And it's capacious. The toggle strap will keep it on your head but I'm not sure what percentage of the population could possibly count it as "snug". My head is 23" and without the strap it *will* blow away in anything more than a light breeze. If you are looking for a less dorky sunhat, this might do it for you. If you are looking for something that can weather the sahara and take a beating, you might have to go back to dorky. (Now I have both - nice to have options.)

I am OVER 100% happy with this product. I got two colors. I thought I would be slightly disappointed with one of them. Instead, I am OVER THRILLED with both hat colors & types--one with the mesh (which I like slightly less) & 3 of another color from the same seller. The stitching is super precise & detailed, the size is perfect & generous for both women & men--not too large for women. The quality is superb. I am so thrilled with the utmost quality that I intend to get more. It appears all types have the tie & I am doing a happy dance. Rarely do you find such quality & so much satisfaction. YIPEE! Amazon, please keep this seller on board! This product is going like hotcakes--super fast. I had to wait until they had them in stock once again & some are selling out already in a matter of a couple of days. That says lots.

I bought this for vacation and didn't notice the mesh strip around the top of the hat. The hat fits very well, it was comfortable and stayed on well in the wind, but even with sunscreen, sunlight made it through that mesh and left a strip of sunburn on my forehead. I think if I continue to wear it while doing, say, yard work, it will do fine. However, wear it while reclining and relaxing in any way, and get prepared for burning.

in recent summers my old 3" bucket hat just wasn't cutting it anymore for sun protection. but alas, i can't quite pull off the full-on floppy sunhat beach bunny fantasy, either. well, i look stupid in this hat too, but it's the happy medium so i make it work. i cut a small hole in the back to stick my hair through, which looks extra stupid but it's better than having sweaty hair hanging down my neck or trying to smush it all inside the hat. i popped on some buttons i like in a vain attempt to distract some of the attention away from my fashion faux-pas... but back to the product's performance. i wore this on several super windy, sunny days "deaw'na shore," including a dolphin boat tour where i would normally be at the mercy of the elements. this hat keeps the sun off my face and stays put thanks to the silly looking chin strap. function over form is the name of the game here, and this was the winner for me (omg i can't believe i actually typed that but i don't have a better closing line).

Does exactly what I purchased it for: keeps my shaved head out of the sun when I'm out all day in it. This hat is a great value for the price, seems well made, and is very light. I recommend that you measure your head before purchasing, because the hat does not adjust. Though it does just sit there pretty well.

The most poorly manufactured hat I’ve ever put on my head. There is an abrasive mesh that is stitched to the inside of the hat in a way that your forehead is immediately scratched when you put it on. This instead of the soft cotton liner that typically lines the inside. There was clearly no care for the comfort of the buyer in the design.
