Review: I know that I have THE most amazing housekeeper & I wouldn't trade her for the world - I purchased this mopping system after my housekeeper had asked me to get her a "sponge" mop after years of her having hand washed & cleaned my floors on her hands & knees! Yes, I know that I have THE most amazing housekeeper & I wouldn't trade her for the world, she's become part of our family! So after years of having my floors hand washed I was afraid that a mop wouldn't even come close to Zophia's hand cleaning my floors but I felt bad for the pain my housekeeper had to be experiencing in her knees & back hence my search for the perfect mop that would please both the user of the mop & the end beneficiary of the mop, me! Hahaha! After researching various mops including just a simple "sponge" mop that she originally requested & reading the many wonderful reviews on the Vileda Ultra Max Mop & Bucket Kit I decided to give it a try... When my Housekeeper first assembled the mop & bucket & reviewed the use instructions she seemed unimpressed! She stated "I will try this new mop but I think it's going to be too complicated & I am likely going to still want just a plain & simple sponge mop". At that point I began feeling very frustrated with myself for not having just bought would Zophia requested in the first place because a sponge mop was much cheaper than this new $36 mop that Zophia initially seemed unimpressed with... However...... all that doubt quickly changed to praises after she had mopped just my kitchen & breakfast area! Within 10 minutes of using the mop Zophia wanted to know where I had purchased it & how much it cost & stated she LOVED it so much that she was going to purchase one for herself for use in her own home! I was SOOO relieved to hear her happy comments! Zophia has now finished mopping my entire home & said she likes this mop better than ANYTHING that she has EVER used before! She says it cleans thoroughly, is so simple to rinse the dirt from the pad & then wring out the water while never even having to touch the mopping pad! It allows you to wring out just the perfect amount of cleaning water to her liking too! The mop head swivels "amazingly",it lies nearly flat/flush to the floor too allowing her to mop underneath my sofa, chairs, end tables, etc. while even swiveling around the furniture legs! "It's the perfect mop, it's so very light weight but the cotton pad cleans like a heavy duty dirt magnet by attracting & holding onto the dirt & grime! It gets into corners, under hot water baseboard heating vents, swivels around every corner, leg & any unusual space & you can even go under even very low to the floor furniture! The washable reusable pad is a great bonus too! Its very very Eco friendly to reuse it instead of the swifter things you toss out every time you quick mop! This system is so simple & so easy but yet it cleans so thorough I may never use the swiffer mop thing for even my fast jobs as this mop is every bit as simple to use as the other one except for having to put your cleaning solution in the bucket & pour it out when done... But saving on wasteful disposable expensive pads that are not environmentally friendly is worth a bucket of cleaning solution... Oh & Zophie commented on the bucket too saying that "it's the perfect size, not too heavy to lift & carry around the house when filled with water & cleaning solution"!!! I can't believe that I am saying this but my floors look so clean with the Vileda System that I am so glad Zophia is no longer having to wash them by hand! WE highly recommend this system for sparkling clean beautiful shiny floors!!! Review: Best mop EVER - I had one of these back in 2006 and absolutely loved everything about it. Unfortunately, it was lost in a move and I couldn't find a replacement stocked in any store. Since, I've tried many products on the market: Reveal, all types of swiffers and swiffer-type mops, steamers, etc. With sprayers, without sprayers. Didn't matter. None came close to working as well as the Vileda ultra max. Every other product I tried just left me more disappointed. In fact, the only (ONLY) thing I've found that is better than this Vileda is scrubbing by hand. The problem with the swiffers is that once a pad gets dirty, you need to replace it. I have a LOT of floor that needs cleaned and could easily go through 3 pads every other day. Another issue with those types of mops is that they aren't very wide, don't do corners and edges well, and often just push around dirt. For maximum results, I'd have to first vacuum, then swiffer small areas at a time. My main problem with the reusable solutions like Reveal, etc. is that you must dampen the cloth in some manner. Then, when the cloth gets dirty, you either have to remove it and replace it with a spare, or remove it, rinse/wring it, and put it back on the mop in order to continue your cleaning. I expected a lot out of my steamer, but it had the same issues as the other reusable cloth mops. It still needed rinsed/replaced after getting dirty (even when being able to use both sides). And, eventually (after about a year), the steam heads clogged with deposits that I was never able to clear out. As it turns out, it's recommended to use distilled water instead of tap water (even though my water isn't hard). Finally, it was never really sturdy, was the worst of any product at handling edges and corners, and didn't swivel all too well. The Vileda solves almost all of these problems. It does edges well. It's reusable. It's wide enough to allow a fairly large floor to be cleaned in minimum time, and it's RINSABLE. The mop folds in half with the touch of a button (use your foot!), rinse it in the bucket when the cloth gets dirty, wring it in the bucket wringer, and you're ready to continue cleaning! The head also swivels to make cleaning even easier and faster. Simple, easy, and reusable. In 6 years, I haven't found anything better. Now that I found this on desertcart, I'll be replacing my lost Vileda ASAP. Who knew I'd be so excited about a mop? NO MORE scrubbing on my hands and knees. YAY! The only problem is that it doesn't pick up large pieces of things - which I wouldn't expect from any product. So, I just push that stuff into a pile as I'm mopping and get out a hand vac real quick to suck up that debris. It's still MUCH faster than any other floor-cleaning product (or combination of products) I've tried. Update: I received this a few days ago and just used it today. I have to report that it is even BETTER than I remembered and I'm so thankful to have found a replacement. I previously stated that the only thing better than this product is scrubbing by hand. This statement needs to be amended. THIS is better than scrubbing by hand. The cleaning results are the same as hand-scrubbing, but the Vileda beats hand-scrubbing by a landslide when it comes to time-saving. Hand-scrubbing my kitchen floor takes me 45-minutes. With the Vileda, it took 15 minutes tops. Not only do I have clean floors (SERIOUSLY clean floors), but I have an extra 30 minutes. For the life of me, I can't figure out why these aren't more widely available.

Mighty impressed
Just took this mop for its maiden voyage, and I have to say that it did a great job. I must be getting obsessed with keeping my floors clean as I also own a Haan steam cleaner which, like the Vileda, has removable and machine washable microfiber pads. Convinced that removable/washable pads are the way to achieve the cleanest floors, I went with the Vileda mop and its nifty wringing system. I have to say that it feels slightly flimsy so my hope is that it will last. It also takes a bit of getting used to the all-direction swivel action, but once in the swing of it, it's easy to apply maximum pressure while swiveling, and to get into nooks and crannies that the Haan can't touch. I have a modern kitchen and my cabinets stand on legs without toekick. Not only was I able to clean perfectly under each cabinet thanks to the swivel, the Vileda cleaned around each and every leg. The pads snap on firmly and the wringing system works well. The "power max" works extremely well to allow even and firm pressure of the pad against the floor. Note that until you get the pad wet, it does not hang down in a perfect loop. Also, the black release button that allows the mop to "fold" is a little stiff, and I have to give the mop a bit of a shake to initiate the folding action. All in all, I'm loving this mop but time will tell how durable it is. For now though I have to say that my floors have never been so clean.

The Item is great, buyer beware of the seller O-Cedar PLZ READ!!
This mop and bucket are very light weight yet very good quality. My house keeper uses this one! I love it, very easy to use, would highly suggest. However the seller O-Cedar is pretty shady. I was finishing my order and it said free shipping with the super saver shipping, so I checked the box. When I got my package, the invoice said $10.99 for shipping, I contacted the seller right away. They were not so nice! They left seller feedback when I wrote a review on them, which they left out the comment "It's unfortunate that you decided to leave negative feedback for your error." How rude, I will NEVER buy anything from them again. I would of replied to the seller but Amazon doesn't have that option that I can find, if anyone knows of how I can do that please let me know!! I WILL NOT purchase anything from anyone who insinuates that I don't know what I am talking about, especially when it is my money involved! Just wanted everyone to know who your buying from! This is copy and paste: O-Cedar: "We are very sorry for your inconvenience but we are not a part of the "super saver shipping" option and never have been. It's unfortunate that you decided to leave negative feedback for your error." ME: "Its not my error! I can read, the only reason I made the purchase from you is because it said free shipping. I would hate for someone else to pay for something that said it was free during checkout, not to mention I would hate for people to spend their hard earned money on a seller such as yourself. I have NEVER had an issue on Amazon, but with you. Due to your rude remark I will copy and paste this to publish to everyone so they know to stay away from you." O-Cedar: "We have no way to offer free super saver shipping since we are not part of the program. We did earlier today decide to credit the 10.99 you felt was wrongly charged and you are free to post and leave whatever comments you feel necessary. Hope you have a beautiful Monday." Here is the review I wrote and the feedback: 1 out of 5:"When I was paying for my order, it clearly said that this item was available for the super saver shipping. So I placed my order, when I got my package and looked at the invoice, it said that I was charged $10 for shipping. I contacted the seller and they asked me was I sure I was talking about the correct vendor. I told them yes, then they said they don't use this option. I have to pay $10 now!UGH" MA (edit this name), October 19, 2012 Seller Response: We are very sorry for your inconvenience but we are not a part of the "super saver shipping" option and never have been. Date: October 29, 2012

Worth every penny
This arrived in the mail TODAY. I scooped it up on a Lightening Deal after reading glowing reviews. And I'm glad I did. I couldn't resist giving it a whirl to find out for myself what all the love was about. Yep, it's the best darn mop I've EVER owned. Listen people, I don't like cleaning and I REALLY don't like mopping. It's such a pain in the arse that although I vacuum at least weekly, I only mop my hard woods a few times a year. I'm embarrassed to admit it but it's true. They look clean, but don't eat off my floors. I couldn't resist unboxing it. My 2 boys (7 & 9) were intrigued and they've never mopped before in their lives. We took turns giving it a try. I can confirm all you've read in other reviews is true. This thing works.... no bending over and it gets the job done. Does a great job on spots and is very well designed. I own a Hoover Hard Floor Spin Scrub and a Shmop. Both good products, but this is superior and more user friendly. The mop head size and swivel feature allows me to reach places the other mops can't reach, like behind toilets and under steam radiators. Looking forward to having really clean floors more regularly! The ONLY improvement the manufacturer should consider (which cost this product a star) is changing the bucket color to something transparent or lighter in color. With the dark grey color, it's hard to tell how dirty the water is getting. Looking into a grey bucket, even clean water appears dirty. There are a few negative reviews that describe the mop not locking into place. If this happens to you, I'm sorry, you have a dud. Contact Amazon or O-Cedar to make an exchange. Other reviews describe too much water on the floor. Today was an 86% humidity day where I live and I didn't think it left my floors too wet. Buy it. It's worth it at full price!

WOW! Ditch your steam and Swifters!
Been cleaning my home for over 30 years, so there some experience here. I read over 20 reviews on Amazon before purchasing so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed in the least. My entire house is vinyl so that's a lot of floor. First the negative on the steamer. After reading reviews there were too many disappointments from every $ end and besides I still feel a little detergent is needed for a good clean. The Swifter I have tried off and on for years going along with the newest of their technologies, disappointing as always. Felt like I was pushing dirt around and the expense of the bottles and pads and so un-environmentally friendly I felt ashamed. SO, as grandmothers and mothers before hand clean is a hot bucket of water and scrub brush on hands and knees...well not quite so much now. The reviews nailed it. This took me about 4 or 5 tries and I got the hang of it. The dirt that came up off my floor after Swifter use was unbelievable and disgusting using my Vileda the first time. Don't be discourage or skeptical of the plastic Its hardy. The wringer actual WORKS! What an easy hands free concept. The pads (do get an extra when you order for some reason regular chain retail stores don't carry this item). The pad is a power house of a cleaner, wrings to perfect wetness, no dripping. I dissolved one of my dishwasher packets into my bucket, figuring nothing cuts dirt and grease like dishwasher soap. I was right, floors were film, streak and clean shiny. No suds. The water stayed dirty but my mop head always wrung out clean and rinsing it clean in the sink was a jiff. Yes you can throw them right in the washer for cleaning too. Recycling! NO old fashion mop head strings to get caught on things and those mop heads get so nasty. Also note I am 2 years post op back surgery and this was very easy to use as you just tap your foot to open and close the Vileda mop to rinse and wring. NO bending over. The swivel head also is a winner. Thanks Cedar for Giving us the Vileda Mop and bucket. THANKS AMAZON MARKET FOR SELLING IT...don't quit either. I am recommending this to my family and friends.

Overrated, adequate product
Today I used this unit for cleaning my wood laminate floor (first time cleaning the floor); first, the handle is kind of flimsy, you have three pieces that fit together, kind of Mickey Mouse; I think I will add some duct tape around where they join to strengthen them a little and prevent them from coming apart. The upside of that is the unit is quite light (lighteness for marginal strength of handle). The two sides of the plastic mop form a hinge and come together so you can get rid of excess water; it's kind of a joke, you really can't get that much of the water out of the cloth bottom; the bucket is a waste of time for a wood laminate floor as you can't get enough water out of the bottom part to not leave lots of water on the floor (I used a spray bottle and just lightly sprayed the floor in sections as I went--this worked pretty well, but the bucket was never used. My floor was relatively clean, so all I had to do at the end was rinse out the cloth bottom, and I was good (or it was reasonably clean). The bottom is also a medium quality plastic that looks like it will not last too long, and the bottom kind of flip flops around when you are using it, it isa design thing I think to allow you to have more mobility with the bottom part. For the amount of money this thing costs, I think it is a kind of rip (just some cheap plastic with a cheap plastic bucket and the red mop holder in the bucket). However, the mop does do the job I want on the floor, so it gets three stars. I hope this helps. If you have a wood floor, skip the bucket if you can.

Don't love it. Don't hate it. The jury is out.
Update: don't waste your money. I've had it for over a year. It's awkward. The wringer doesn't thoroughly wring. The foot button to collapse the head (for wringing) is not good no matter what shoes you are wearing. I stopped using it as every time I look at it, it seems more of a headache than a solution. As others have said, it is a bit awkward to deal with the foot button. I takes some getting used to. And it is odd that certain footwear (flip flops) don't hit that button right to release it. The wringer part isn't as much a wringer as it is a spot you can put the mop head to sort of squeeze out the excess water without touching the head. Not saying it is good or bad. Takes getting used to. The mop, as a whole, is good. It's big, but it's not too big. It does a decent job. I'd like to say this excites me. It doesn't. But not saying it is bad, either. I've only used it once. So, time will tell.
