I have been looking at Beurer products,and especially the IL50 lamp for a while now. Everyone has amazing reviews for the Beurer products but I am one of those OCD people that needs to fully research before committing. While doing the research I came across this massager and though why not give the Beurer products a go, and this is inexpensive so a good trial product. This is just crazy, its so good! Well made, powerful and targets the problem area so well. I have huge back problem and this just targets the problem area so well. No it will not fix your problems, nothing will, but it helps managing the pain and mobility so well. Highly recommended!

Does what it says on box, is a little harsh when massaging some parts of body, it doesn't allow you to comfortably get into difficult area..does massage well though

I did my research to get the right one and it paid off because this is great. It’s so handy as I travel a lot with work. It has really helped get to a part of my back I’ve been having issues with. I’ve recommended it to a few friends.

It’s not always feasible to go get a massage when you need it, so having a portable machine that you can use while chilling watching TV is a really good idea. When I first used this it actually hurt quite a bit, but the more I used it, the more comfortable and relaxing it was. I guess I was full of stress balls or something, but all turned out well in the end. The 4 rotating balls underneath the surface change direction every now and then, which is helpful, and they even heat up which is nice. It would be nice if there was a speed control on the machine, but sadly there is not. I use this watching the TV to unkink my shoulders and lower back. Then I switch it to my legs. It’s a really good machine, but of course, it’s in no way a substitute for the real thing.

Having recently tried out a HoMedics Shiatsu Travel Pillow, this variant by Beurer would appear to be slightly better, despite not being fully portable i.e. it doesn't have a rechargeable battery and so must be mains powered at all times. It is also significantly cheaper however, as outlined below, that doesn't play a significant factor in my analysis. For me, the biggest advantage which this massage cushion has over the HoMedics equivalent is that it is significantly less bulky and accordingly, feels much more comfortable. However, you will note that I have still only given the massage cushion three stars and that is because that in spite of the more streamlined design, it is still not particularly comfortable when in use i.e. the massage pads tend to cause quite a bit of discomfort when in use and are certainly no match for a human massage treatment. In fact after use, I actually felt a little bit stiff, so I'm not sure whether it does more harm than good... Not having a rechargeable battery is a bit of a draw back (if you're a fan of these types of cushions that is) because the mains cable is quite short and therefore, you might find that you require an extension lead to be able to use it in the location that you want. It also means that it cannot be used easily when travelling. In summary, I have so far used two different types of these massage cushions and I have to admit that I haven't really got along with either of them, but if I really was forced to chose a preference, it would have to be this one, purely because of its more streamlined design.

I’ve no idea what a real-life Shiatsu massage feels like so can’t compare it to the real thing, however I did feel relaxed after using it for a few moments when I was sat working. The power cable is long enough to be practical so was able to sit in different seats around my home. Easy to user, one button control, On, Heat on and turn off. Strapping to chair did not work for me, elasticated but not adjustable, so I decided to use on sofa (no use for straps). Just lean Massage Pillow again the chair and lean back, slowly move the Pillow up your back for an all-over back massage. I found this to produce more of a deep tissue massage than the chair option. Heat did not make much difference, warm but not what I would call “hot”. I also enjoyed putting Pillow underneath as I laid down on bed to massage my upper shoulders. The Heads change direction automatically. I get very tense muscles from using laptop all day and sat awkwardly (I slouch), the Massage Pillow made a instance difference. Will be using this most evenings now.
