It has a well-balanced variety of skills practice, the topics are interesting, the recordings for listening are appropriate for the levels while still being challenging, and the graphics are appealing. My favorite part of the Touchstone series, which I have not seen in other series, is Part C of each unit, Conversation Strategies. These sections have valuable information for the English learner, and have even brought to my attention things we do when speaking English that I wasn't aware of. Examples from book 2 include reacting to someone's story, responding to suggestions, using vague expressions, encouraging people to talk -- in each of these, common phrases for these conversation strategies are given, followed by practice using them. A top-notch all-skills ESL book
The Touchstone series (1 through 4) is my favorite all-skills ESL series.
