Moth balls have a distinct smell that's off-putting. That's why no one uses them. But these are different. The smell is pleasant, and they're individually wrapped. I bought these for two purposes. One, for my clothes. Now, when I pull them out of storage, my sweaters will have a light lavender scent. And two, mice hate the smell of lavender and mothballs. I put these in the corners where my cat can't get to them. It also helps to drive away the mice that are seeking winter shelter. I love these and will definitely purchase them again.

I think these helped a bit with my moth problem. But the smell is overwhelming. It smells like a moth ball soaked in lavender oil, which I guess is exactly what it is. If you've resigned yourself to smelling moth balls and you want to also smell lavender, they're fine. I only placed two packets in a closet, with doors closed, and the smell punched me in the face every time I walked in the room for a month. I used fewer packets than recommended, and I think it reduced my moth problem for a little while. Could bear the smell to use any more packets.

I had a need to put these in my closet to protect clothing. It’s a good price and it’s small so 4 is suggested per drawer/shelf. I just tossed them in front and in back and I hope the will work! The scent isn’t overwhelming which I like. It’s a subtle lavender scent.

If you have to use moth balls you might as well use it with lavender
