Kiddie Cat: A Child's First Catechism Lesson

Katie Warner & Meg Whalen did such a wonderful job with this book. It is a beautiful and simple child’s catechism, but with just the right amount of detail. It is amazing the lessons they are able to fit into the few lines and lovely little illustrations. A wonderful little start to your baby’s faith library. This is a sturdy little board book, but your older kids will enjoy reading to baby or toddler siblings. Parents will learn or be reminded of the simple truths of the faith along with their kids. We love the First Faith Treasury books in our family! We have them in our diaper bag to take to church, at home in our book bin, and we’ve given them as gifts for Baptisms, baby showers, and to our parish for the pews. These books will not disappoint you. So cute; a lovely way to keep truth in even the littlest hands.

What a great, concise catechism to teach children about our faith. I like that it has substance and is still easy to understand. Like the rocket science for babies books. My boys are 2 and 3 and love it

I figured I should leave a review to let people know that the book doesn't exactly match the pictures. In the listing I bought it from the book features quotes from the Catechism and various saints. The book I received had simple sentences explaining truths of the faith. Ex: The page with Jesus beckoning to the apostles in the boat says "Jesus wants you to follow Him", which of course is true and probably more age appropriate, but not the quote from JPII that says "Do not be afraid to be saints. Follow Jesus Christ who is the source of freedom and light." I actually bought the book because I liked the idea of my children having the direct quotes. They've already memorized the saint quotes from "A Cloud of Witnesses" and I hoped these also would become part of their memory, to pull out when they need them later in life. It was the richness and the complexity that drew me to it, because it was that same richness that drew me to the faith to begin with. I had grown up on platitudes and wanted more. All that being said, the book has some first rate things about it. The illustrations are detailed and a great spring board for teaching your children about the faith. It is modeled on the catechism, with the four pillars visible on each page. The statements are true and to the point and pair well with the illustrations. It would be in the conjunction of the statement and the illustrations that you would look for a more full narrative. The illustrations are lovely as always. Just disappointed that I didn't get what I'm assuming was the original. Also, can we have "A Cloud of Witnesses" back in print? I was going to buy it for my niece and then saw there weren't any available. Sadness abounds.

There are sacraments, virtues in the book. Really nice

So beautiful and easy to read. Ordered for my baby's first birthday and it is another hit.
