Spend your summer with Dr. Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein): where the tides are high, bank account balances are higher and the patients are just high maintenance. Because of his strong convictions and straight-shooting style, the “concierge doctor’s” practice is growing… and with the return of his estranged father (special guest star Henry Winkler), so is his family. With puzzling cases involving a faithful cop with an STD, a winemaker with a troubled palate and a reality show where all the contestants are stricken ill, Hank needs his own innovative talents and the support of his fast-talking brother Evan (Paulo Costanzo) more than ever. Featuring all 18 episodes from the acclaimed second season and special guest stars that include Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Erinn Hayes (Parenthood), Peter Jacobson (House, M.D.), Michael Rapaport (True Romance) and Bill Bellamy (The Brothers), Royal Pains is the smart and original comedy that Entertainment Weekly hails as “whimsical fun.” Review: prefectly fine - Arrived quickly, and the discs were in perfect condition, and the plastic cases are not cracked or broken in any way. The outer sleeve was rather grubby, and required washing. Review: charm, drama, humor - great series - I was hooked on Royal Pains from the beginning. The lack of major network programming with substance (whatever happened to fine drama series such as Hill Street Blues or ER?) has sent me prowling cable networks and to the discovery of such non-seasonal programs as Royal Pains, Burn Notice, etc., which seem to premiere their seasons in an out-of-sync manner. No matter. Whenever these series appear, I turn on my set with purpose and proceed to enjoy well-written, well-acted series. Royal Pains is one of my favorites. The charming concierge doctor in the Hamptons, his impulsive screw-up brother, the very appealing PA and the rest of the characters bring fresh faces and excellent acting to a series that presents a newer concept than standard major network programming. The introduction of Henry Winkler as the shady father of Hank and Evan gives greater depth and understanding to the personalities of the two brothers, as well as bringing another excellent actor back to the small screen in a role that suits him very well. I love the rich scenic photography, the story lines than are more about how the doctor and his team handle problems outside of medicine, and the fact that the writers can tell a complete story plus keep an ongoing sub-text running the length of the season makes this a series worth waiting for on DVD to enjoy again and again. There is comedy, suspense, a little practical medicine, and really fine acting and writing to keep this series fresh and going for many seasons. if you haven't made the acquaintance of this excellent series, I suggest you buy it on DVD, dig out the munchies and pig out on real entertainment. Still Pretty Good
I absolutely LOVED the first season of this show. Maybe because I didn't already know any of the actors from previous programs, but it was easy to really get into the story line and believe the characters. The second season, well it had a few changes and, while it was still enjoyable to watch, I didn't get quite as excited about. I didn't stay up waaay too late saying "just one more" like I did with the first season. I'm not sure why the next one (season 3) is divided into 2 sets on DVD but I won't be buying them- and renting the episodes is even more costly so I won't be doing that either.

Entertaining stuff
I have now seen both series of "Royal Pains". I find it extremely entertaining and am looking forward to series 3 after the summer/autumn, or whenever it is released. The characters have developed quite nicely in series two - better story-lines as well. I think it would be nice to show the less-moneyed side of life in the Hamptons as well. Some more pro-bono work would be nice, but with the development of the clinic I suppose that may be coming. I hope the producers keep the series for a while and continue their good work. Cheers from England D. Clement

Wanting More!!!!
Continuing the fun from Season 1! The characters are moving along with their new lives! Now their father is on the scene still working to repair his relationship with Hank. Of course the trip to Cuba was wonderful and this changed the dynamics of Boris and Hank's relationship as Hank has to save Boris's life. The intro of Paige was really good. Evan is smitten from the start and it showed a different side of him.The season ends with a lot of changes going on mostly the boys have been moved from Shadow Pond because of Hank being honest with Boris and it not being what he wants to hear!!! What will happen now!!

Good series
Good story with interesting characters in various situations. Somewhat predictable, but it's part of the enjoyment. Looking forward to more seasons.

Here is a doctor practicing medicine with sophisticated and rich people, at the same time everyone has a story, sometimes funny, sometimes complicated, sometimes sad. The series is lighthearted but so easy to watch and enjoy! The characters diverse, all of them interesting and some very comical. The thread of the story keeps you hanging in wondering what is coming next and hoping it will not finish too soon!
