Per reviews, it seems extract has more flavor. Why use paste? For the flecks to be seen? Thanks.

I disagree. The paste has more vanilla flavor. Extract has more alcohol flavor. I exclusively use this vanilla bean paste and I love the flavor it adds to all my baked goods.

Not being familiar with vanilla bean paste, is this a liquid or paste texture? Also, is it measured the same as regular vanilla when using in recipes?

It is a little runnier than a true paste, a bit thicker than honey. I love it. It gives a much more pronounced vanilla flavor. It is fantastic in cookies. It does have a bit of sugar in it but just tons of true vanilla beans. I use the same measurement, sometimes adding even more just because I love vanilla. I always have this in my pantry.

Vanilla as ingredients 3 & 4? More likely 4&5 since there IS alcohol in extract - quality sounds dicey with much filler before vanillas - what gives?

I can’t answer to the ingredient list or proportions but can say I’ve found this to be a wonderful product especially for receipes where I want the flecks of vanilla bean to show (ice cream, whipped cream, vanilla sponge cake, pound cake). It has a heavenly aroma and deep flavor. I appreciate not having to scrape a vanilla bean when recipes call for that.

Does it contain alcohol ??

Use this for drinks, cocktails, ice creams, cakes, desserts- can be used on anything. Love the size. Wish the bottle could be a little bigger. Most of my teaspoons were too big to scoop the paste. But still great product

The other day I was baking an almond cake with almond buttercream frosting. This was for a special birthday, so I wanted to use the best quality vanilla-bean paste. All of the (North American) chefs I've ever watched on the Food Network seem to use Nielsen-Massey vanilla products whenever they bake; this appears to be the gold standard. I had a lot of prep to do for this party--including baking the cake/making the frosting! So I bought this via Amazon. The taste didn't disappoint: it's a quality product. However, the price is ridiculous! I paid $42, which is at least 10% higher than ordering it elsewhere online. If you buy this via Amazon, you're paying for the convenience, especially if you have Prime 1-day delivery, as I do. Also, I learned that vanilla-bean paste can replace vanilla extract 1:1 (exactly). So for any baking where you want to really taste the vanilla, buy this. You won't regret it!

i will never go back to vanilla extra, after using this vanilla past for all my Christmas baking! Concentration and strong smell of vanilla is overwhelmingly wonderful! Extremely high quality, love the thicker consistency and most of all the taste!
