It is a shame that historians have not given us proper introduction to this type craft as little is known about it in any of the hundreds of publications that I review when producing a actual re-enactment of historic events of the WWII and the Pacific era. All the info that I have seen has called out these type ships as being "fast moving Destroyers troop transports". In 1/700 scale PIT ROAD makes a kit that shows these "fast moving Destroyers troop transports" but NOT THESE CRAFTS. They are excellent in design and would have been a good match for the allies "LST's and LCT's" though not by any means as large these Japanese counter craft make for a very compelling and provocative model, I just wished that the Japanese government had released more info regarding the actual usage of the craft where and when was it in actual combat. Expensive as ALL the JAPANESE WWII KITS ARE these days it is a fine addition to the diorama's that I build. 2 of these are going to be seen in an "invasion" of one of the many thousands of islands the Japanese held, but this time 1/350 squadron of American PT-Boats are seen in an early morning surprise by a gallant boat crew of trying to sink them as they disembark their loads of tanks, trucks and men..if only they were not soooooooo expensive!!!
