Love these bulbs
Almost all of our lights in our house are sengled now. They are easy to use with the app, and pair well with alexa. They are super customizable with the colors and have lasted years.

Great every day household item!
These lights are a game changer! I love the versatility is color and brightness. The quality is great and they are easily controlled in the app or by Alexa. Dimmability is great. They don't put off heat either.

Great easy start to automating a home
These lights are very very cool. I installed them into different lamps, downloaded the Sengled app for my android phone, and I was off and running. I have been creating scenes of different lighting schemes using both white and colored lights for illumination and atmosphere. Everything I've created in the app has supposedly translated over to Hey Google, but the google assistant fails to operate the lights on spoken command. The Google Home app is also very buggy to the point I don't even use it, relying instead on the Sengled app. So it's not quite true that these lights operate without a hub. I think it takes owning an Alexa to make these lights respond to spoken command because google is an epic fail. Edit: Not 2 weeks after ordering, One of my colored bulbs has died. Not an acceptable service life and I had to call Amazon for a replacement. After working with the Sengled Home app for 2 weeks I've found that it features lighting effects, yet in neither scenes or routines based on time is it possible to save these effects. I went to the Playstore page to suggest adding this in the comments and the existing comments scared me. Most were complaints about the app just going dead and failing to work any longer for no apparent reason at any random time. Now I'm paranoid about the life of the app on my phone.

Good Idea and Well-Designed
These are great. I connected them to our Amazon Alexa device and use one over our door with the doorbell camera. When someone presses the doorbell, we can change the lighting (brightness, color, etc.) from the other end of the house and view whoever is there more clearly. You can even set the lights to switch from red to green to red during Christmas season, or to cycle through all the colors continuously.

It's hard to make the worst product on the market, but Sengled accomplished it.
I got these bulbs about a year ago. At the time, they worked pretty well. Pairing to the app was a bit of a pain, but after that, they did what I expected - light levels and colors were simple enough to control from Alexa or the app itself, routines worked, it was good. But then, weird things started happening. It was small things at first - bulbs not firing routines like they should, but still responded to manual changes. App reporting "no internet" on my phone, when I clearly had it. Annoyances sure, but nothing that made them unusable. Over time, some of them were starting to randomly flash off and on, without any apparent pattern or cause. This flashing was often reported by other people, but no apparent fix ever came. Then, some update released a little while before this review, and the most miraculous thing happened! All of my Sengled bulbs - every single one, without fail or exception - stopped working. All of them. Bedrooms, offices, living room, every bulb to the last was now mysteriously and permanently unreachable by the app.I figured at first that it surely had to just be the app itself, since Alexa would be able to change them. But, Alexa doesn't see them either anymore. While they turn on (insofar as I switch on the light and they come on that way), they now apparently lost the ability to communicate with anything, making them essentially useless next to a conventional bulb. One might think it was a networking issue, but extensive testing of the wifi clearly showed it working as expected, with every other device in the house able to reach it without issue. In spite of that, I went through the steps to check the bulbs were paired (they were, at first), that they could do their reset routine, every single step suggested by the manufacturer, and a number of steps that weren't but make sense if you're into networking at all.The only thing I can figure is their most recent firmware update must've fried something. There's a sentence I never thought I'd write in my life - "my lightbulb got busted by a firmware update" - but here we are.So now I have a pile of bulbs that don't work. That wouldn't be enough to merit a review on the topic, except it's clear that the manufacturer seems to give no regard to it, if their app reviews are any indication. Just one canned response after another with zero help. Quite a few people in a similar situation. If you'd asked me 6-8 months ago if these were a good deal, I'd say yes. Right now, I'd suggest you avoid them as hard as you can, unless you want to set up a bulb that will instantly destroy itself the minute it updates its firmware. There are tons of other options here on Amazon, and many of them don't have random failures or hardware setup pains like these seem to.Do yourself a favor. Avoid Sengled. Put them down, don't look back, and get something that actually works.
