Nice piece of kit
A really great little keyboard that is a pleasure to use. It is quite thin but definitely not flimsy. The keys are square and seem a little bit larger than other keyboards but that could just be an optical illusion due to the fact the letters on the keys are large, bright and clear. Even without the backlight on all letters and characters are easy to read. Even though the keyboard is thin the keys have a good amount of travel when hit giving the feel of an old style 'clunky' keyboard - I mean that in a good way. I am not a gamer so cannot comment on that side of performance but for general typing and such it works well. The response time from keystroke to letter appearing on the screen is up to the level of any other keyboard I have used and the positive key action and slight thud are a reassuring confirmation that you have not missed a key. The layout of the keys is pretty much the UK standard although, as mentioned by other reviewers, the 'Enter' key is only one row high as opposed to the normal two. In use I hardly noticed this so it was no issue for me. Other than the '#' being moved to accommodate the single row 'Enter' key all other keys and functions are present and in their normal locations. The backlight is a good brightness - not so bring as to cause a squint but bright enough to show the letters etc clearly. If you are looking for a keyboard that can cope with fat fingers (like mine) and eyesight that is not quite as sharp as it once was (like mine) then this is an ideal keyboard for you and at a very reasonable price.

I am the world's pickiest keyboard user...
Let's make this clear on the first line - this keyboard is PERFECT (for me). I've had this for 10 months now and have been working from home for 6 of them, so it's been tested. As I mentioned, I am picky. I have had expensive keyboards and I've had cheap ones. This has been one of my favourites so far. I need keyboards that have a few things: low profile keys, a numeric keypad, wired, no faff (multimedia buttons bells and whistles, etc). You can get those fairly easily but as I age my eyesight is deteriorating so I now need a backlight. I think I had 3 before this one in a variety of colours, but I don't want it to look flashy - I need it to be functional and high contrast. So to find a keyboard with all of the above and just a plain white/grey backlight for such a cheap price, well I wasn't holding my breath. 10 months later and I haven't even considered replacing it. The opposite in fact because I'm going to buy a couple more just in case they get retired. I can not think of a single negative to say about it. And the backlight turns off too. It's going to be a struggle getting used to the usual standard keyboards when I go back into the office. Update: I've now had the keyboard just short of 3 years. I'm still using it now but it's time to replace it. My only gripe (and it's unreasonable) is that some of the keys have worn away so the backlight on some is a blob rather than a defined letter. I don't touch type, so it's an issue. But it's been 3 years of daily use so I can't complain. Everything else still works fine. No loose keys, no 'problem' keys. I'm probably going to try a different brand but only because the typing noise is clattery and I'm used to a more silent one now (via work). As other reviews have mentioned the enter key is a bit of a strange shape, but I got used to it quickly and it was never an issue. This brand does a low profile, backlit quieter keyboard but I think it's overpriced.

Large print backlit wired keyboard. Not perfect, but good enough for the price
This is a full-size backlit keyboard, that connects to your PC via USB A. It is a straightforward keyboard with no additional media keys. It is dark in colour and the backlighting is white. The font on the keys is large, maybe in the region of .22 and clear in dim lighting with the backlight on. The keys feel a little bit spongy with more key travel that I would personally like. I do find that when I’m typing quickly, some key presses are missed for this reason. It’s not terrible through, and not a deal breaker considering the price and decent backlighting. Layout - the model I bought is a standard UK layout. However, the enter key is not the standard L shaped variant that covers two rows in height. The enter key on this keyboard is a single height variant, which for me, makes it easy to miss when touch typing quickly. The size and shape of the enter key is in my opinion, the worse feature of this keyboard. There is also an additional key between the righthand windows and control keys on the bottom row. In windows 10, this acts as a right mouse button click, so wherever your curser is, pressing this button gives you the right mouse click context menu. I didn’t think this would be useful, but I’ve actually found myself using it quite a lot. The backlighting is decent enough. It does appear brighter in some areas of the keyboard than others, but is not a deal breaker for me. The backlight is either on or off, with no adjustment available for brightness. However, for my needs, this is fine and the backlighting is perfectly bright enough and not too bright in a dim or dark room. When your computer is on, you can turn the backlight on or off with a press of the scroll lock key. There is no way to separate the scroll lock and backlight on/off function and so if the backlight is on, the scroll lock is off; if the backlight is off, then the scroll lock is on. For me this is not an issue, as I prefer to have the backlighting on at all time so in my use case, the scroll lock would be off. I don’t think I have ever used the scroll lock function in my life and so for me this is no issue. However, heavy users of the scroll lock need to be aware. Also, as most computers these days have at least some of the USB ports live, even when the computer is off. If the keyboard is plugged into a permanently live USB, then it will be illuminated regardless of whether your computer is on or off. With my computer, even if I turn the backlighting on the keyboard off before I turn off my computer, as soon as my computer turns off, the keyboard lighting comes back on again. Pressing the scroll lock key in this instance (when the computer is off) does not then cycle backlighting on/off. To get around this, you could use a USB port that is not permanently live, or just unplug it if it annoys you. So, all in all, not perfect. But for the price, if I knew now what I knew before I bought it, I would still buy it. I write this as a partially sighted person, so the large font backlit keys, I find very useful. I would also love to see a TKL and wireless version of this but most importantly with a proper size L shaped enter key.

Year later
It's a year later and still working, illuminated keyboard is quality. You can turn the light on or off in the day, but it's nice at night

Excellent value - daft choice of lighting control
This was under £20 when I ordered it, so by far the best value white-lit keyboard out there. Good things: - Nice big keys and symbols - probably ideal for weaker eyesight; - Backlight - definitely there, visible in daylight. At that price, niggles are likely but not showstoppers - mostly - so here they are: - The enter key is a single row key instead of the standard UK layout double row. I've already hit the hash key instead, several times, in ten minutes of typing. That may go away with familiarity - Required key stroke is long - the space bar often misses with my normal light contact; - The keys are prominent and square; I find the sharp edgesmildly uncomfortable, particularly as the long key stroke means you're pushing past the adjacent key. - Fairly firm pressure needed. To get the full keystroke, you're hitting fairly firmly, and I'm feeling some fingertip fatigue. - Squeaky keys. Generally quiet, but the space bar in particular has a noticeable squeak on my unit. - My spacebar seems to be bouncing - quite a few inadvertent double spaces (in fact there were a few just then, and they weren't deliberate). - Unfortunate choice of lighting control. If you use Excel, you'll never turn off the backlight. That's because Perixx decided to use the scroll lock key as the backlight toggle. If the light's on, scroll lock is disabled; if not, scroll lock is on. And any Excel user will tell you that Excel uses scroll lock to toggle the effectof the cursor keys, and there's nothing you can do to stop it or reassign it. Easy workround; don't turn the light off. But ... So: if you want an admirably low cost, high visibility backlit keyboard, aren't typing on it all day every day, and are happy to work round relatively minor foibles; hard to see better value. If you don't like working round foibles, this probably isn't for you.

Excellent Keyboard
This is an excellent basic keyboard for the price. The keys are not silent, nor are they noisy, but they are very easy to use and have a positive feel. The backlight is just the right level for me and the layout has no surprises or unexpected quirks. There are, however, a few things to be aware of: Firstly, if you use the scroll lock then you lose the backlight. This is explained in the advert description so should not be a surprise. Secondly, there are no adjustable feet at the back of the keyboard so it has been designed to be used on a flat surface and at a given angle. This shouldn't be a problem for most people and the keyboard can be raised if necessary by sticking rubber pads under the back edge. Thirdly, and the thing which caught me out, is the fact that unless you turn off the power to the computer when you shut down then the backlight will stay on. I think this is because when most computers shut down they leave the usb ports powered up. This also applies if connected via a powered usb hub of course. I like this keyboard a lot and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want or need 'bells and whistles' such as media control keys and colourfull strobe lighting.

Keys are super readable! There are also fancy functions!
This is great! Are you maybe an occasional gamer, who somehow always avoids adequate lighting? Maybe you just like hanging out on twitch and saying hi to some people. This keyboard is so great. The letters are so easy to see, the multi functionality of the keys is awesome too. I was looking at getting an expensive keyboard, then conceded I would likely ruin it with coffee spills and ash over the course of the next year or so, and need to buy another, so why waste all that cash. Get this one. I've spent about 5mins with it so far and I hecking love it. If that changes, I will let you know

Keyboard is okay. There were just a few things that disappointed me enough to return it.
Keyboard is okay. Nice white backlight. Easy to read keys. There were just a few things that disappointed me enough to return it. 1. The 'Enter' key shape. I knew this when buying it and didn't think it would be an issue. It was. 2. Backlight doesn't switch off in sleep mode. You can change your Bios settings to power down the USB ports but I preferred not to do that. 3. The connection between the lead and keyboard seemed a bit fragile. 4. The 'N' key stayed stuck down on first use but didn't thereafter. If you can overlook these things then the keyboard might suit you.
