Stanley Proto J9954-NA Proto General Purpose Tool Box Red, 14"L X 6"D X 6-1/2"H

I don't often leave reviews anymore as amazon has grown "douche" towards honest unfiltered reviews... But this ones is so good I'll try again. So plain and simple. I carry a smaller thinner guage metal Japanese tool box at work as a maintenance tech. This thing is built well enough, and cheap enough, and the latch -which some complained about, works well enough (perfectly snug and tight actuation) that within an hour after receiving it, I ordered a second one... And actually a third. I ordered 2 at once for my second order. If I have one complaint at all, its that the rivets on the handle sheet metal look a little on the dainty side for what I am about to put in it. Bit those are very easily drilled out and I will replace them with some sexy solid rivets and washers or just pop rivets and washers on the backside and it should be good for probably the rest of my life. Its literally the perfect size for me, I have to drive from building to building a lot and I am not rolling my fridge size tool box everywhere and I am not shipping it. This is a great size for taking in and out of the vehicle.

I’m giving this 5 stars, not because I don’t think you’ll find a better value. This is a high quality, steel, manufactured in the U.S. item. This tool box is so sturdy, it can be passed down for generations. Lastly, I will mention that it is a STEAL for < $30 !!!!. I love it

I bought this tool box on the chance that it would be large enough for my needs. It's perfectly sized despite wrong dimensions in product description and rather imprecise (undersized) measurements in a user response to a question re: dimensions. FYI: Accurately measured dimensions --- Interior: bottom of box front to back (D), left to right (L), and box height bottom to top (H) are 6-1/16" D x 13-15/16" L x 6-7/16" H. The storage tray rests on indented brackets 3-15/16" above the box bottom. The interior tray dimensions are 5-3/8" (D) x 13-1/4" (L) x 1-3/8" (H). Exterior box dimensions: 6-1/8" (D) x 14-1/8" (L) x 6-1/2" (H) not accounting for the handle. The box is sturdy (built with 22 gauge steel), its well finished inside and out, and it appears to be durable. The handle, hinge and draw latch all work well and the lid fits snugly to the body. The only problem I've encountered with the box are small voids where the bottom, back, and sides are folded to form a corners. This doesn't appear to be a structural problem but would allow liquids spilled in the box to leak out of these small holes. I've already applied four small dabs of epoxy to seal these corner voids. I'm very please with this tool box and would purchase it again if my needs warranted. I did however feel the box was a little overpriced given that it's smaller than most larger portable tool boxes costing about the same.

Have been using for a year now and it is holding up great. i like the size as I keep it under my seat in my crew cab truck. Well built, no issues so far. Took the place of a tool bag, as it was always folding in and annoying.

Quality medium size tool box. Would highly recommend this product.

If you need a small tough little toolbox this will work perfectly for you. I can't complain for what I paid for it.

I try generally to be positive in writing reviews. The plus is on this toolbox are that it’s well painted. It’s well priced, and on the hole it’s pretty durable. It’s a good value proposition it’s a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a toolbox that’s more solid. There are better candidates, but they may cost you a few dollars more for that reason I’m giving this four stars, good value, but not the best toolbox out there.

Good old metal box. Small in size yet holds basic tools and a hammer. Latch was bent when received. Couple wacks with a hammer and its fixed. It will get more dents in the next few weeks anyways.
