Remothered: Tormented Fathers (PS4)

Awesome horror game

It would appear I am the first to write a review of this game, which seems somewhat odd given it has quite an indie following. Anyhow, it would appear Remothered is a very underrated game, although that could change with the impending sequel "Broken Porcelain", which is being met with positive reception. Firstly, I will say that the game does not hold your hand. This is not one for the all guns blazin' crowd (as a fan of Resident Evil, I was concerned about this but after playing the fantastic, criminally under-appreciated Haunting Ground for the PS2, I had to find an experience similar). In any case, Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a very tense game that is dripping in atmosphere and thrills. It's easy to become overwhelmed with all the tension because you generally can not navigate an area quickly without your pursuer being alerted - somewhat immediately - to your location. This can be frustrating but it can also add depth; there were times I felt so tense that I decided to dash across a room, make my way to my intended location and dive into the nearest hiding place while I watched the pursuer prowls around the room searching for me. I do also feel that the game is an odd mix of being balanced and rather unbalanced in it's difficulty. For instance, unlike Clock Tower (and to a lesser extent, Haunting Ground) the game is VERY generous with giving you items to fend off your pursuer (these are split into either defensive/offensive weapons) however they also do not seem to make that much of an impact, so you could potentially end up wasting an item on a moment you're caught off guard and finding yourself dead around the next corner. One of the good things that offsets this is that you are confined to a rather small, isolated environment, so if you can quickly make it to the nearest mirror (mirrors serve as save/health points) then you should be OK. Overral, I would highly recommend this to fans of survival horror and I am extremely happy Chris Darril has given us the closest thing to a Clock Tower/Haunting Ground sequal that we will get. Gamers who are obsessed with graphics and smooth animations may gripe about the rather erratic animations in cutscenes, although I feel this was more than a worthy effort given this has come from an indie game developer. Definitely worth a go, even if you are not exclusively a "horror" gamer, this would be the perfect game to get friends around for a night in front of the PS4 with some beers, food and the lights turned off. Highly recommended.

This seemed to have good write up reviews, but sadly not from me. It’s the most frustrating game I have ever played. You have to get killed multiple times before you can work out the plot. Game play bugs, defence system is poor and good luck with escaping. However, good jump scares and puzzles so if you’re not bothered by getting killed 100 times, try and get to the end of the game. Thanks to the help online I succeeded eventually.

I've only managed to play a small part of this game, but compared to the 2nd this is very smooth and virtually non glitchy

Se sei un nostalgico dei classici survival horror dove la tensione si taglia col coltello e la fuga è spesso l'unica opzione, questo titolo è una perla da non lasciarsi scappare. "Remothered: Tormented Fathers" per PlayStation 4, pubblicato da Soedesco, è un'avventura che punta tutto su un'atmosfera opprimente e su una narrazione matura. Punti di forza Il fiore all'occhiello di questa produzione è senza dubbio la sua "trama psicologica": il gioco abbandona i classici cliché per metterti di fronte a persone comuni che si trasformano in minacce spaventose. L'impostazione è fortemente incentrata sulla storia, supportata da "scene cinematografiche" dirette da Chris Darril, che danno vita a personaggi complessi e realistici. Il gameplay si basa sull'esplorazione e sulla risoluzione di "puzzle realistici", pensati per integrarsi in modo credibile nell'ambiente di gioco. A coronare questa eccellente direzione artistica c'è una "colonna sonora di prim'ordine", firmata da Luca Balboni e dalla talentuosa Nobuko Toda (già nota per le musiche di capolavori come Final Fantasy, Halo e Metal Gear Solid). Aspetti da considerare Come evidenziato dal vistoso bollino sulla copertina e dalla classificazione, il gioco è un PEGI 18 ("Dai 18 anni in su"). Le tematiche affrontate e il livello di ansia generato dalle meccaniche di gioco (basate sul nascondersi e fuggire da inseguitori implacabili) lo rendono un prodotto inadatto ai giocatori più giovani. Inoltre, la scheda tecnica segnala che si tratta dell'"Edizione: Regno Unito": pur essendo un gioco con un fortissimo DNA italiano, tieni presente che le diciture sulla copertina fisica saranno in lingua inglese. Esperienza d'uso Inizi a esplorare i corridoi bui della magione e capisci subito che non sei un eroe armato fino ai denti. La sensazione di vulnerabilità è costante e magistrale. Ogni scricchiolio del pavimento ti fa trattenere il respiro, e risolvere gli enigmi ambientali mentre cerchi freneticamente di non fare rumore per non farti scoprire crea un'esperienza tesissima e incredibilmente immersiva. Conclusione e consiglio È un acquisto caldamente raccomandato per gli amanti dei thriller d'autore e delle avventure dalle tinte cupe. Un titolo perfetto per chi cerca una narrazione profonda, capace di tenere incollati allo schermo grazie a una sceneggiatura brillante e a una tensione psicologica palpabile fin dai primissimi minuti. La dritta in più Considerando il calibro dei compositori coinvolti e l'importanza fondamentale dell'audio nel gameplay, devi assolutamente giocarlo indossando un buon paio di cuffie! In questo titolo, capire da quale stanza provengono i passi o i sussurri dei nemici è l'unica arma che hai per anticipare le loro ronde e nasconderti in tempo dentro un armadio. L'audio direzionale non solo ti aiuterà a sopravvivere, ma renderà l'esperienza doppiamente terrificante e affascinante.
