Nice full featured meter. Provides value beyond its price point.
This is to update my previous review. They original one I received was used obviously because it had holes drilled in it! I had a conversation with the seller and they assured me that it was Amazon that sent me a used one and that could not have possibly happened through their distribution. The replacement unit works well. It does meet specifications listed in the manual. The case seems to be of a sufficient quality to make the meter reasonably rugged especially in this price range. The test leads are typical PVC insulation so they're a little stiff and specially in cold weather, but they are functional and what you would expect in this price range so I'm not going to knock them. Optional silicone test leads are available for a few more dollars and I would recommend getting them if you're using this meter for more than hobby or home use. The replacement test leads (not expensive) also come with adapters for various uses and those are handy in many situations even if you are a hobbyist, home tinkerer or a shade tree mechanic. Also the warranty is a plus. 3 years at this price point is unheard of anywhere else. I was impressed enough that I purchased another Kaiweets meter, the peak current inrush reading amp clamp. I was trying to find a model number in the listing but it is the unit that is as of February 25th selling for $89.95. It has also turned out to offer value beyond its price. The meter seems to be rugged and would take a few hits but I wouldn't try throwing it against the wall like you could with a Fluke. Then again you're not paying Fluke prices and if used in the proper setting this meter will last. If you're not going to use a meter for a long time please remove the batteries. Alkaline batteries contrary to some opinion will leak and cleaning that up can go anywhere from being an annoyance to totally destroying the meter. If you're using this in a home setting, hobbyist, shade tree mechanic or light-duty commercial use not involving high energy systems it's a very good value and I think you'll be very happy with it. But as always if you're in an industrial setting and you need cat 3/cat 4 I would go with a proper industrial meter that has had the cat 3/cat 4 rating performed by UL, ETL or in Fluke's case, Fluke's own in-house testing lab. Would you really trust your life in those situations to a product that cost $36? I would hope not. From my previous review: I opened by meter today and it looked good until I turned over the meter to put the batteries in. There are two holes drilled into the kick stand and two holes started but not finished. These are not factory at all and either this was a demo or a used meter recycled as a new unit . Returning for a refund. I purchased a new unit NOT a refurb or return. The box seal shows evidence of being peeled back and replaced. I will not rate accuracy, easy to read, or value for money. I have not looked at any of these. I'm not even bothering with inserting the batteries. If the company will send one out like this, I cannot trust the unit for accuracy nor safety.

An excellent meter for this price point.
If you're looking for a 20,000 count meter on a tight budget, then this is likely the one to get I bought it on sale for about $40. This brand has done an impressive job at getting the meter down to this low of a price point for it's quality and its features. At first when I bought it, I didn't like it because it felt like a toy when I bought it. The flashing lights at the inputs and the flashlight made me feel like I was buying a toy. And I wound up purchasing the Uni-T UT61E+, which is definitely a better meter is about all respects. But after owning the Keiweets a little longer I realized it is still a very decent meter. Though I mostly use it on my car, while I use the Uni-T for everything else. Just about everything works about average or better on this. The only thing that I can truly complain about is that if you're using the resistance feature, and you're just measuring the resistance by shorting the leads, it can take several seconds for the reading to settle down. For instance it might read 0.20 Ohms of resistance, and it will take about 10 seconds for the for the measurement to slowly drop down to 0. Which isn't a deal breaker in my opinion. Most measurements seem decently accurate. There are two things I wish the meter had, that most meters with this high of resolution usually have: a Relative button and a manual range button. Which both very helpful when you need them. But at this price point I understand why they left those features out. These decisions likely helped get that low price point. Lastly I thought the leads were a little cheap - they're made with 20 gauge wire instead of usual 18 gauge. But once again, probably done to keep the price point low. And if you look up a tear down video on this meter on YouTube you will find that the input protection is a little limited. But not unexpected for this price point. Really all and all, if you want a high resolution meter, at a great price and aren't too picky about extra features - for instance the lack of a Rel and range button - then this is a fantastic meter selection. The meter even feels good quality in your hands and the dial is solid. And it comes with a decent carrying bag and manual too that fit nicely in the bag.

Saved My Laundry Day – Fast Delivery and Spot-On Performance!
I recently had my clothes dryer stop heating up out of nowhere, and I suspected it was an electrical issue (like a bad thermal fuse or heating element). I didn't own a decent multimeter, so I quickly searched Amazon and ordered the KAIWEETS Digital Multimeter TRMS 6000 Counts. With Prime, it arrived the very next day – huge lifesaver when you're staring at a pile of wet laundry! This thing is super easy to use, even for a DIY newbie like me. The auto-ranging feature is fantastic – no fiddling with dials – and it accurately measured continuity, resistance, and voltage on the dryer's components. The backlight and large display made it simple to read in the dim laundry room, and the leads felt sturdy and high-quality. Within 30 minutes, I pinpointed the faulty part, ordered a replacement, and got the dryer running again without calling a repair guy (saved a bunch of money!). It also has extras like temperature measurement and diode testing, which will come in handy for future projects. Highly recommend this multimeter for anyone doing home or automotive troubleshooting. Great value, reliable, and Amazon's speedy delivery made it perfect for an urgent fix.

Great for the price
I'm an amateur hobbyist when it comes to electronics and circuitry but I'm a science/math/engineering geek at home and work so I'm a bit OCD when it comes to accuracy and I will pay a lot more (once) when it comes to having nice/good/quality tools and equipment. All that said, I've had this meter for a year and a half and it has been great... until I blew a fuse and could no longer measure current. I looked and looked and couldn't find any screws other than the one that holds the battery compartment down. Eventually, I figured out that there is a thick rubber housing (similar to an Otter box for an iPhone) that blends in seamlessly with the actual meter itself. This rubber-ish housing is extremely difficult to remove and I ended up using a heat gun and a flat-head screwdriver to remove it... no, it will never be put back on! After removing the rubber housing, I discovered that there are four, deep-socket screw holes and was able to separate the front of the housing from the rear which exposed the internals and thus, the fuses. There are two fuses, one 10A and one 600ma. I temporarily used the 10A fuse in the 600ma socket just to make sure that was the [only] issue (after checking continuity on the 600ma fuse) and was then able to measure current draw. I've been happy with this extremely inexpensive DMM but will eventually buy a Fluke... just because I can, not because I'm unhappy or dissatisfied with this KAIWEETS branch. Buying a Fluke is akin to buying a Rolex that you can pass on to your son. Would I buy another on of these meters? Eh, sure, I guess. It does not affect my work or my ability to test and fix stuff around the house so it "will do". It is a fantastic meter for a young person or anyone on a tight budget.

SUPER bang for the $, well worth the purchase! [An electrical/electronic design engineer said this]
Seller is great and the manufacturer (MFR) (ie: Kaiweets) seems pretty darn good. As an engineer of 45 years I recently bought two units - in separate transactions about a week apart. I have thousands of dollars of fairly hi-end gear in my lab, and yet due to the overall value and functionality of this VOM, I feel strongly that the product is worth the money spent. I think you'll agree if you give this VOM a chance. The VOM actually lets the user know which set of jacks to use by blinking the light-ring (around each contact) multiple times (~5) when the selector switch is set to a specific function (NICE feature). I have an issue with the four circular lead jacks metal contacts (IN THE DVM). The jack contacts are not stamped but are rolled contact material... the malleable metal is *not* a complete circle thus will open up over time and use - causing intermittent readings (unless the end user can open the unit up and manually reduce the looseness when needed. The other issue with the contacts is they are NOT firm/tight, but move around due to their design. [I hope the MFR seriously rethinks the contact design and eventually uses a solid "cup" concept] So I ran these VOMs through a series of tests, especially ahead of giving one as a gift. Most function accuracies are within acceptable limits. One note of interest, the AC function sets the backlight to orange if the reading hits 80VAC. NICE TOUCH, HOWEVER, UL and other Standards are that 30VAC RMS (42VAC peak) and 60VDC is the threshold for dangerous voltage! The MFR really needs to adjust “when” the orange backlighting occurs, AND, add the safety (the orange backlighting) feature for DC as well. The VOM external leads (Red & Black) aren't top notch of course, but ARE nice. The temperature probe lead banana pins are inappropriate for use with this unit - they should be shrouded pins (like the test leads) because bare banana’s will eventually mis-shape the jack contacts (because they can be unknowingly (and likely, repeatedly) inserted on an angle (from 90 degrees) by the user. (recall I ordered two of these VOMs): Both temperature probes are off by -10 & -13 degrees F respectively, but knowing this error still allows use of the temperature function. It remains that a temperature function (while handy) is not a critical VOM function, never has been, so don’t allow the inaccuracy of the temp readings much weight when evaluating this VOM. The only other real bugaboo is the accuracy, quality and detail of the user manual... Aside from much misleading wording and rough English throughout, the manual quality is rather on the poor side and could use a really good [English-speaking engineers'] enhancing. Note: I kept one VOM and as indicated: will be giving the other to friend who is not an engineer, so I'm editing the manual (including MFR errors – like the ‘current’ drawings-both of which are wrong) and adding to the notes in the manual for his sake.... otherwise he'd not know how to use the DVM, or worse, possibly damage it. Bottom line, except for what I've detailed above, this unit stands right up there not too far away from Fluke and others costing much more. I dare say this unit does more and is more internally protected than many box-name MFRs products! I recommend viewing the specific tear down for this HT118A on you tube. It's not “all encompassing” but IS informative… and watch out for look-a-likes. Kaiweets IS the better product - if you read all the specs.

Great Multi-Meter
This is a great multi-meter. I've used Flukes at work and this is pretty similar with lots of great features. I didn't need anything as sophisticated and as expensive as a Fluke so looked at this one. The construction is very good with good leads. The ends fit well in the unit, much like the Fluke. I have another one that the leads won't even stay in the unit. This has Hz, Ohms and all of the other AC/DC etc that I needed. I would highly recommend if you need a versatile mult-meter that seems to be of good quality. Worth it over the really cheap meters at some of the local stores.
