This is hands down the best cooling pad I have ever owned!
This is hands down the best cooling pad I have ever come across in my life! I play a lot of video games on my laptop and it tends to get hot and overheat so I have to have a cooling pad under it at all times. Before I started researching about them I always just bought those plastic coolers you can buy from Big Lots and when the second one broke I just had enough and I was on a mission to find the best and long lasting cooling pad I could find no matter the price. That's when I came across this one and I have had it for over 5 months now. It still works great and is super durable. The fans are silent, you can barely even hear them and they cool the laptop great. When I put my hand under it and touch the laptop the whole surface there is cold and it cools the whole area evenly. The whole cooling pad is like a grid, so you can clip the fans in place anywhere on it which is great because all laptops have the vent area in a different locations. The only con is that it's uneven, I guess most people like it that way but I would rather prefer an even stand, so if they could add extension legs to the front I would really happy. In overall you definitely want an aluminium cooler because it lasts longer and won't get hot. Also the movable fans are just great, they are silent and you can move them around to the right spot. This is the best cooling pad I have ever had and will definitely buy it again if the one I have should ever break. Love it!!

Great cooler, poor fan reliability, and a stoneage-era web portal
UPDATE 2: -- Laughably BAD Support! Three (3) submission for RMA have now been sent over the last 6 mos and still no feedback from cooolermaster -- the RMA keeps getting kicked from their system and they say CASE CLOSED, but do not indicate if the RMA will be fulfilled or if it's been denied. UPDATE 1: -- DOWNGRADED! One fan became intolerably loud after 3 mos -- did a warranty with CM that requires you set up an account, make a claim ticket, remove the defective fan, place on top of a printed copy of your invoice, photograph, and attach the image to your claim ticket. More effort than i imagined for a couple cheap little fans. But since i know how it goes with these sub-par fans, i had already purchased a couple back-up units -- which also happens to be a frustrating process. Get it together, Cooler Master, use a higher grade fan, make your website easier to use... and maybe even offer the replacement fan units here on Amazon -- i would certainly buy them here versus dealing with your website, even if the unit IS under warranty ORIGINAL REVIEW: Works fine but fans don't last terribly long -- i have 3 of these units now and each has incurred premature fan failure (accompanied with hideous noise and poor performance). One thing i appreciate is the fansl connect through a single USB thru-port, which is nice for not using up another connection point -- but if one fan goes, i just replace the whole rig (with either the 2- or 3-fan set-up. My tower fans last at least 5 times longer. Maybe the new fan design will last longer, but i'll be surprised if it does. When it's working properly, however, it is very quiet. I've never had need to utilize the portability aspects of the unit (where the laptop snuggles into the underside kerf, but at least it demonstrates some forward design thinking).

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful!!! Very Great Cooling/Circulation Fan!!!
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful!!! Works well and keeps gaming laptop cool while gaming and is very customizable with location for those with different vent locations. Tried about 10 different brands yes was overkill but when a gaming laptop runs hot on your fingers and you feel you could protect it more from heat this is by far the best it even fits my portable lap desk and makes it very portable plus good viewing angles.

Great at first, then fans got very loud after a few months
The pad worked very well for my 2011 15" MBP -- really did cool down the laptop; the temperatures dropped by at least 3 degrees on average. The fans, however, are a problem. Within a few months they started making a lot of noise. They now wobble and make even more noise. Without the fans, the pad obviously does not cool as well as with the fans on, so having the fans on is important. I was originally very happy with this product, since it worked great and the fans could be moved around, but now the fans make so much noise that I may have to look into buying something else. The noise isn't just white noise either; it is mechanical in nature.

Solved my overheating issue
In order to quantify the benefits from this, or another similar, product, I recommend downloading an entirely free application called Speccy, from Piriform.com. This will allow you to see the temperatures for each individual component inside of your computer. (You don't need to sign in or anything, just a free download, they also have other great, and free, programs) The Cooler Master says that it is good for a laptop up to 17 inches (the diagonal of the screen) and technically it is; but, as someone with a 17 inch laptop, since I plan on using this for the long term, I wish I had gotten one just like this one, but slightly larger. That said, it is a very good cooling solution. Even the pad by itself is pretty good (simply by allowing for better ventilation), but the fans do work quite well, and they make an excellent combo. The fans are audible, when plugged in, but not loud. If I am watching something on my laptop that has sound, then I usually don't even hear the fans at all. The fans are powered by a USB cable, which has both a male and a female port on it, so you can still plug in a flash drive to the same USB port on your computer that is powering your fan and have no issues whatsoever. My initial overheating issue was caused by using a TV, connected through an HDMI cable, as an extended screen for my laptop. The temperature, without this product, reached even past 80 degrees Celsius, I think I even got it up to the 90's once or twice (and I eventually had a hardware failure, which I was able to repair). With this product, it takes hours of streaming Netflix to the extended screen, while running other applications on my laptop's built in screen, to even get up to 70 degrees Celsius.

I bought this for use with my Alienware M15 R7. It only just accommodates it but does a fantastic job of keeping it cool, even when gaming it barely gets warm now and is completely cool within a minute or two of closing the game. Being so compact it's great for portability and doesn't take up too much room in my laptop bag.
