Rec'd Boots Today, & FYI I chose to listen to the Reviewer's take on the sizing instead of going w/Amazons size recommendation & the reviewers take was spot on-that being they run a little large in length & a little narrow. My foot measures 10.5 & they tend to be a little on the wide side of the spectrum BUT I don't normally go w/a wide size when I make a Shoe/Boot purchase - it depends on the make. So going by the Reviewers take on them I went with a 10.5 Wide & they fit perfect-just the right length & width. There is plenty of room in the toe box just so You know. I did run into 2 problem's with them that several Reviewers mentioned that being at the base of the tongue there was an uncomfortable bulge where the tongue is sewn to the foot part of the boot-but only on the left foot not the right 1. My 1st thought was to send them back but after looking at it I just reached in the boot & made sure the overlapping flap of the tongue where it was sewn was pushed flat & that took care of the "bulge" that was hurting My foot. I read where 1 Reviewer had cut the flap part off but I didn't have to. I currently am wearing them & they feel fine & the other thing I have a problem with as another Reviewer had brought up is all the brand advertising that's on them,-way overboard. The simple "Cat" on the tongue of the boot is a plenty all the rest that's on it cheapens the look of the boots IMO. I'm going to wear them inside on the carpet for a Day or so just to make sure but will probably keep them unless a problem arises-if so I will come back & update the review). For now I'm giving 4.5 Stars as they seem to be made well, they look good, & by getting them on sale as things go they are a decent value for price paid. And by the way several reviews stated they were heavy boots, I do not have the same opinion about that, I'd consider them average to lighter weight. 1 more thing I had stated that I ordered 10.5 Wide & while the outside of the box stated wide the tag inside the Boot say M-they fit Me perfectly & I'd say they are on the wider side just not too wide. Very well made. I especially appreciate the thicker sole. It is thicker than most work boots I have. Excellent traction. Feel pretty good although I haven't worn them much yet. The will work out fine. Good purchase.

I have been buying and wearing these Caterpillar second shift soft toe 8 1/2 Wide boots for at least the last 15 years and have loved them. They have always taken a week or two to break in , but have always been somewhat comfortable and fit well right out of the box. The pair that I just bought on Amazon was extremely tight and all the material , the leather, and the collar were hard as a rock. It was so uncomfortable that I immediately took them off and checked the size written on the tongue of the boot, assuming they sent me the wrong size by mistake. They didn't, it was an 8 1/2 W . I don't know what Caterpillar has done but it was a big mistake and a very noticeable change in quality. The only difference that I noticed was that they were made in Vietnam instead of China, so maybe the different factory had different machines with different metrics to size the boots. I don't know and don't really care because I'm not going to keep on ordering bigger sizes and hope that they will fit right. Besides like I said, they were hard as a rock , I've never bought boots with leather that hard and inflexible. I was extremely disappointed because I have always loved these boots and love the way they look as well. So, I was faced with the chore of finding a new boot that was equivalent to what these used to be and hopefully not spend a fortune in doing so. I tried the walmart equivalent and it was very mediocre, did not have stitching to the sole and didn't look that great. Then I just purchased a pair of Wolverine floorhand 6" soft toe boots on Amazon which was truly a wide boot for my wide feet and felt great right out of the box, so I guess I have found my new boot. Hopefully , they will hold up as well as my old Cats. Time will tell. They also have a good look like the Cats do. I hope this is helpful to those in the same predicament!!!!

Amazing boot, size i ordered was 42.5 EU but delivered 42 only. Still it fits perfectly. Happy with this purchase specally in this price. Boots are made in Bangladesh not in china.
