This ONE device for everything, in a sturdy case
I have a pile of assorted serial adapters sitting all over the place on my workbench, and I almost never use them. Either they're loose wires with unlabeled cables, or they're 5v when I need 3v3, or the power is unlabeled as well! Or my workspace is so chaotic that yet another bare board is just a recipe for shorting out my computer's USB port. This, however, is really the only device that I should have. It appears to be a genuine FTDI chip (0403:6001), with selectable power and logic levels. The pins are clearly labeled, and it comes with a set of Dupont wires. The whole thing is wrapped up in a plastic case that keeps it and your computer safe from the other stuff on the workbench. Lastly, LED indicators for power, RX, and TX help you to identify connection problems. I would appreciate maybe a little more shrouding around the pins and jumpers, but what I'd *really* like is if all my other serial adapters turned into these.

Perfect for programming AVR microcontrollers
I use mine to program breadboarded ATmega1284 microcontrollers. It works perfectly. There is a good tutorial online if you search for it. This product it very well made.

Worked perfectly
This device worked fine and did the job it advertised. Note that you’ll probably need to install the FDTI driver on some systems such as Windows 10/11.

Very Useful FT232RL Interface
Having the jumper capability to select my 3.3 VDC VCC was very useful. I also needed some of the FT232RL interface pins that were conveniently located on well labeled through-hole vias after separating and removing the plastic case. This interface saved me from Digi International no longer supporting the programming cable for their Single Board Computer line.

Works but installation is buggy.
I like that it has straps for various voltage levels. It has a clear case with clearly indicated signal lines - very nice. That will come in useful. If you just plug this thing in, it will not do anything. I use other FTDI devices (including some in our designs) and they just work by plugging them in. This one requires their driver, which is fine. After installing the driver, it wants a reset - unusual but ok. I wasn't ready to reset because I was in the middle of an edit and build so wanted to wait until later. The installation then proceeded the system to crash hard, with a blue screen and all the scary trimmings. It basically reset itself in a very rude way. That really irked me. I wasn't ready to reset and to see a blue screen seconds after installation is very disconcerting. After the PC came back up, the device worked. A bit clunky but does work. Save your work and install this thing when you're ready to reset. The price is right.

Very useful and well supported
Over the past few years I have purchased seven of this adapters. I find them very useful, built with quality and well supported. Why buy 7? Each has been used on a different project (projects with FPGAs, Raspberry Pis and generic Arduino boards). I find the USB side works well with Windows and Linux --and-- the digital side works well with 5v and 3.3v. When I have asked questions back to DSD, I have gotten prompt, useful answers. Call me a happy customer.

My favourite UART adaptor
I originally got this adaptor because I needed to talk to a 1.8V product. Since then it's absolutely 100% rock solid performance has made it my go-to adaptor in my full time day job. This adaptor costs a lot more money than my cheapest adaptors but in my experience you get what you pay for. The authentic FTDI chip is always up for the task when connected to my Linux host. The same can not be said for some of my other adaptor cables.

This device worked first time! Very happy I have tried a couple of the FTDI devices from ebay, however I believe they use dodgy FTDI chips which when used with the genuine drivers, they are bricked. This however comes boxed, includes instructions and some female>female dupont cables. Geninue FTDI drivers worked perfectly. If your looking for a usb > serial converter for Arduino projects / Tasmota, this device works a treat. Wish I had have found it first, it would have saved a couple of hours.

Utilisé pour « flasher » un lecteur Gotek. Fonctionne parfaitement. Le câble fourni est très utile pour les connexions. Je conseille pour sa facilité d’utilisation. La qualité de fabrication est très bonne.
