KS2 Disc & Learn Hist Anglo-Sax Study Bk Review: Really like the books in this series, that also address some less-ordinary topics for children history like this one about the Saxons and the Maya culture. Much appreciated. And the book provides good insight in the period given the detail. The text is clear and very well-organised in specific topics per chapter, that often start with a time time (I think even adult history books could benefit from that practice). What really attracts me and the children however is the presentation and illustrations. On each page there are colourful pictures, maps and photos. This really brings the era to life. Our daughter reads these books for fun. She loves to soak up historic facts and to dig into a topic, after which for weeks she will treat me on her detailed knowledge and we will have little discussion about the subject. She already has some familiarity with the topic as somehow Alfred the Great and Danelaw has always fascinated her. So we have visited Winchester and spent time at the excellent Anglo Saxon exhibitions at the British Museum. The only drawback is that I ordered the the book in softcover version - the higher price for the hard cover version would have warranted the purchase. Moreover, while I’m less obsessed with this, it's a book from 2014, so all years are set in BC/AD format rather than the BCE/CE designation that is used in most recent history books. Review: This book is well written, the pictures are colourful and detailed well, the most important thing is the information is so child friendly, easy to follow and understand. I definitely recommend this book, delivery was really quick.

Good comprehensive overview of a core curriculum topic, my 8 year old found it interesting and not difficult to read through & absorb. We find this company's books really dependable in this regard

They have covers all the basics and it's really cleverly written and engaging for this age group. Perfect for home educated children. So good I bought the Vikings ones and they are also as good.
