A must-have book for the photographer going in the studio
I rate this textbook a must-have for any photographer going in the studio. It gives very practical solutions to common and not-so-common problems met in the studio, from lighting to staging, to the choice of lens and camera, to studio set-up. The illustrations are clear and well-designed, the photos are beautiful, the text is concise and to the point. In my opinion, one of the best reference books I've read on this technical aspect of photography.I rank it at the same level in depth and clarity of content as the textbook "Universal Principles of Design" by Lidwell, Holden & Butler.

Guaranteed to notch up your professional skills
Super book for the advancing amateur or professional studio photographer, and not recommend for the novice. A full book of Professional photography studio product and still life shoots with only a one small chapter on portraits. Typical high quality Rockynook hard cover text book. Beautiful layout, well written, great examples including post production editing considerations. If you decide to do all the shots in this book, figure several months of work and having your professional skill level raised several notches by the time you get to the last chapter. Truly a Masterclass photography book.

An excellent detailed review of many facets of photography
I wasn't too sure about this book because I shoot all types of photography and studio is only a small part of what I do. However, the material on the different types of lighting, perspective and subject distance are some of the most clearly written and well exampled I've ever seen. It is a "studio" book with lots of info on product photography etc, but full of tips and tricks that can be applied to photography of any type. I highly recommend this one.

A really professional book.
It is refreshing for a change to get a photography book thats very intelligent, knowledgeable and informative. If you are a professional photographer new to the business you will learn a lot about organising and operating a first-class studio. If you are a well established photographer who needs a new outlook, or just a refresher about studio operation, the book is definitely worth consideration. This is a sophisticated European outlook and definitely something modern photography needs.

Inspiring lighting guide
This is a great book for those who are already familiar with professional lighting equipment, but who are looking to amp up their style. Gorgeous photography and great lighting diagrams help lighting students go beyond the simple 2-3 light setups. Also great to see what the author's own studio looks like and what gear he has collected and prefers to work with.

good value, loads of practical tips from a passionate expert.
I thought the book was a bit expensive when I ordered it but I can say it's well worth the money. It has lots of examples with detailed explanation of how and why the lighting was set up. I've been looking for a book like this for ages and not found anything that is as good as this one.
