Let's Get Off Our Buts Review: Peter is awesome, remove John-Roger - This is a wonderful book. It had a profound impact on me when I read it in the early 90s. I give full credit to Peter as the actual author of the book. If you do some research, John-Roger did not write this book and he does not deserve to be listed as an author. Peter would be pissed knowing that John-Roger is getting this credit; Google for more info if you're not familiar with what happened. Review: If you are too lazy to help yourself, well... - ...no book will be good enough for ya. If you are ready to be guided with love and humor into exploring yourself in useful ways, GET THIS BOOK and GET TO WORK! You'll love it! Practical ways to get to the answers inside us, the Big Ones such as what do we really want in this lifetime? What must be given up so you can move forward (it's different for everyone.) It is a practical step-by-step, "keep you from fooling yourself" kind of guide. And did I mention it is fun? Consider also, "You Can't Afford The Luxury of a Negative Thought"...a book that has helped my husband (among many others) tackle his depression sans pharmaceuticals (after 48 years of major struggle) AND become an active participant in his own life! He is happier than he has ever been in his life, and that makes my world a lot better, too.

Great book for motivation.
This book is great for someone who has a dream and is frustrated with trying to realize it. I actually bought this book years ago, then loaned it to someone who didn't return it. Rather than bug them about it, I just bought another one. It is such a great motivator. It provides a pathway to accomplishing your dream, whatever your dream may be. I have realized mine to a large degree, and I want to be able to refer to the book over and over again, to see if I can speed things up, or rearrange my dream to be more in line with what I really want as time goes on. The book addresses what can keep us from realizing our dreams, how to overcome those obstacles, choosing the dream you really want to accomplish, becoming passionate about your dream, actually doing what needs to be done, how to handle it when you get there. FInally - it tells you how to choose new goals once you've reached the old ones. Wonderful book, thanks John-Roger and Peter McWilliams.

One of the best books I ever read
I love this book!!! I am writing this review 10 years later because I was going through my order history and stumbled upon it. Even 10 yrs later, I remember it well. Very synchronistic because I literally just thought of this book YESTERDAY and how life-changing it was for me during a rough transitional period in my life. It is easy to read and full of simple but EFFECTIVE advice. Definitely helped me get out of a rut and into a much better version of reality. Highly recommend it!

Among the best self-help/lucid thinking tools I know
Easily in my top 5 list of self-help and critical thinking tools. Short, clear chapters that drive crucial thinking about fear of failure, getting beyond fear, the nature of fear and its repercussions in our lives, then onto a brilliant series of steps to figure out just what "sings" to an individual about work and life, and chasing down those dreams. Not sure a better piece of writing exists in this direction. A great companion book to Susan Jeffer's "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway". I also recommend McWilliams "You Can't Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought." First-class writing and thinking.

Read this book if you're tired of NOT getting it done! It has some GREAT content and some fun quotes.
This is a great book due to the wealth of ideas the author presents. Good for people who have been trying to get something done for a long time but always gets stuck due to "life's circumstances." Read this book. It has some GREAT content and some fun quotes.

Awesomely Inspiring!
This is a great book. I actually found a copy @ Goodwill and loved it so much I ordered two copies to give to my daughters. We're using the book as a platform to reform our lives and finally get what we want out of this journey!

A TYPE OF BOOK THAT ANYONE SHOULD READ AT LEAST ONE TIME

I have no idea why a book like this would ever go out of print. It has this immediacy and energy, a really engaging style. It is a self-help book unlike any other. Rather than pondering the deep, it's all about action - the clue is in the title! They let you dream as big as you can, and eliminate fears through no-nonsense (and very funny) reasoning. It's a doorstop of a book in size, however when you open it up you'll see that there are often just a few words on each page. It's actually a very easy read. Serious minded folk may find it too light, but in its lightness lies its depth; as the title of their other book points out: "You can't afford the luxury of a negative thought!" Simply fantastic!
