big heavy mallet that you can use to really persuade something without marring the surface... i use it a lot on holdfasts and mortise chisels.

This mallet is my preferred mallet for timber framing chisels. Since I started using one about 30 years ago, I haven't had to replace a chisel handle or ferrule. I have noticed that the wood handles are thinner and less comfortable where you grip it than the older ones.

Very nice mallet but the description is deceiving it doesn't come with the inserts shown. It was a surprise when I opened the box because I took a gamble ordering it hoping it was what I needed. Overall works great for big hard wood but description and picture lack honestly.

The hammer handle is too small for the hammer. If you use the hammer for brick as I do it is very hard to hold on to.
