The Muse Tarot: A 78-Card Deck and Guidebook

OK, I have been looking for a card deck for ages that I can use as a source of both creative inspiration and practical prompts for my mixed media artwork when my mojo deserts me. Which is quite often these days. Of all the ones I have tried so far, this is by far the best. The cards are smaller than a lot of decks, but I actually find them the perfect size for shuffling etc. The card stock is good quality, the finish matt and the design on the reverse is gorgeous. There are some things about the deck that may be of concern to some people, particularly those who prefer a traditional tarot deck. The names of the suits have been changed to reflect aspects relevant to a creative life: Wands becomes inspiration, cups - emotions, swords - voices, and Pentacles - materials. There are some changes to the names of the Major Arcana as well. There is no King for each suit, instead we are given The Muse for each suit, and the art work for the Muse cards is portrayed in a landscape format whereas the other cards are portrait, which may annoy some people. As you might expect from a deck referring the Muse, the deck is entirely feminine, there are no male characters portrayed in the art work, which again may be a negative point for some. None of these points concerned me personally at all though, as the cards are just beautiful pieces of art that inspire me visually. I would describe the art work as digital collage, but although the artist Chris-Anne does have a certain visual style, there is sufficient variety in them to hold your interest. The guide book is good, with keywords and poetry to help the inspiration flow. At first I thought the actual prompts were too vague as with other decks I have tried, but that was before I discovered THE WEBSITE! The website takes these cards to another level. There are audios for each card, meditations and pathworking visualizations, as well as more in depth prompts which were what I had been hoping for from previous decks. Not an exact fit with my shopping list of requirements but closer than I have come so far, and I am happy to end my search here. The prompts are not specific in the sense of "Draw your pet or partner in pen and ink" (not that I would want anything that specific!) but provide sufficient detail to get the creative juices going no matter what your creative discipline is, without constraining you in any way. I heartily recommend these cards to any artist or creative who wants a little help from his or her Muse from time to time. My cards arrived today and I can honestly say this is my favourite deck ever! I already own the Light Seer's Tarot and apart from its less than sturdy card stock didn't think Chris-Anne could have improved upon it with its fascinating artwork - well, she has! The Muse Tarot deck is made from satin-feel noticably thicker card stock and the images have beautiful colours and are intriguing with a feminine, classy Deco glamour flavour. I'm enjoying reading through each card's description in the accompanying cute booklet with its velvet touch cover. I'm super excited about learning from and working with this fabulous new deck! Well done Chris-Anne - you're a genius!

A-mused and enthralled Enthralled by this beautiful imaginative tarot pack by the very talented Chris Anne. Only arrived (unexpectedly early to my delight) on Sunday, and I am so pleased with the four readings completed so far, to be so thoroughly immersed within the magical cards of the tarot. Anyone familiar with traditional Tarot Card packs will observe Chris Anne's innovation here by replacing the four suits of the minor arcana with a more elemental theme. Therefore: Pentacles are replaced by Materials- Wands become Inspiration, Cups become emotions, and Swords become Voices. The pack is beautifully illustrated, and the cards are larger than the general size, but the bonus aspect of this is they are easier to both see and replace in the card pack. A must buy for every Tarot enthusiast!!!

Such beautiful colours, and good quality

This is an absolutely stunning deck! I highly recommend this deck if you love intricate art and design. This is a female only deck meaning there are no males pictured in any of these cards. The cards shuffle really well, for me at least. The card stock is really good and it’s not too thin or too thick. I’m in love with this deck!

These are beautiful cards and I don’t want to detract from how lovely the imagery is. They are a bit clumpy together with the card stock. However, there are no thoughtful reversals, (which I actually miss,) as it takes a particular mind to connect to and write reversals as well as upright meanings. So, whilst I love their imagery and I use them to enhance other cards the fact that there are no reversals (I don’t believe they are literally the opposite of the upright) makes me pass over them for others. Sometimes I need them in the booklet to get my mind to include other possibilities and it seems that including them is becoming something that is left out plus booklets get smaller and smaller.

Beautiful cards again from Chris Anne. I bought her Light Seer tarot and fell in love with it. I have over 100 decks and I keep using light Seer. This muse tarot is beautiful cards. Colourful designs and the minor arcana suits have been renamed with inspirations, voices, emotions and materials. The depicting major arcana designs also are very relatable. Matt cards great feel and lovely colourful box . Booklet included. I pre-ordered these before release so probably one of the first to receive it in UK. I am sure I will see these popping up a lot soon on you tube readers channels. Highly Recommended

Chris-Anne's Muse Tarot is beautiful. I just got it. Beautiful to look at, powerful to feel, and pleasantly modern. You can feel love and sass from this deck, which is why I will use it when I want to connect with artistic or feminine energy. The guidebook is both beautiful and useful. If you want a deck that sparks intuitive flow, this is it!
