Globe Electric HZ-4300-BK Ceiling Motion Light, Black, Bulb Not Included

I LOVE this light! It's meant to be installed on ceiling (outdoor), but I have it mounted on the wall, as that's where my wiring is. Before purchasing I was concerned whether the 360 degree motion sensor would still work, but it DOES. I had posed the question, online, and got different answers. It seemed to make sense to me that it WOULD work if it was 360 DEGREES activated. My caution to others considering wall mount, however, is the same one brought to my attention by a Manufacturer response - that if mounted on wall, rain, moisture etc. might drip into the unit and cause shorting, which potentially could cause fire. Duly noted! Thank you!! In my case, the light is mounted in an alcove over my garage door entry, so there is no such danger. (In my location, this style looks better than most of the lantern or "security" style lights.) So I LOVE this light! Does exactly what I want. The Dual Brite feature has it come on at dusk, stay on for 3 hours (or 6 hrs, or Dusk-to-Dawn as you so set it), then goes off unless it detects motion, then comes on full-bright (for 1, 5 or 10 minutes as you so set) before reverting to half-brite again. So it "greets" me with light (and gives me a smile) whenever I come home, and of course wards off intruders. The only thing I don't like is that, from an aesthetic point of view, the black base is too thick, but that's my personal preference, and there's probably a structural reason why it needs to be so. So when I get around to it, I will paint the outmost part of the base white, so it blends into my white wall, so the black "frame" APPEARS smaller. LOVE this light. So glad I decided to check out the motion detector thing myself! Oh, this takes 4 candelabra bulbs, but it's way too bright for me. I only use 2 bulbs, and they're only 15 watt equivalent (if I remember right) LEDs.

Great fit, quality, looks, and performance. You will need to get LONGER MOUNTING SCREWS if you are going to mount this on a vinyl porch ceiling. The included screws are about 3/4" too short. Get the longer screws before you start the job and your install will take about 15 minutes. Make sure you use the right bulbs for best performance. TIP: Use the Phillips LED Chandelier bulbs here > Philips LED Chandelier Bulb 4 Pack, 60 Watt Equivalent, Daylight (5000K) B12 Dimmable Decorative Candle, Candleabra Base PROS: * Excellent quality for the price * Very handsome on any level of home * Solid frame (looks like high quality antique black powder coating) * Highly adjustable time / sensitivity and dusk settings * Good quality and ease of installation * Clear written instrucitons CONS: * The included screws are too short for installing this unit over a vinyl ceiling porch. Had to go out and buy longer mounting screws.

Works great, easy enough installation. Keep in mind the measurements of the housing, and they types of candelabra bulbs you use. Some bulbs will be too long, and not fit in the housing properly at all. I forgot to double check when I bought the bulbs, and I wasn't able to fit the bulbs in the housing at all. The sensor works great and as advertised, keep in mind that it's not as good at detecting things that are walking directly toward the sensor. Has very handy plastic pieces to block the sensor so you can direct where it senses.

Update as of 12/11/17: Ok, I am leaving my original review below but this morning I walked out on the front door and the light came on as I stepped out like it is supposed to. I put up the outdoor Christmas lights yesterday when I installed the light but I forgot to correctly set the timer so they were not on this morning like they were supposed to be. It is the Christmas lights that are causing the light not to work properly. I am going to go ahead and move this to five stars to compensate for the initial one start review yesterday but I will revisit this if it no longer warrants five stars as it has still only been less than 24 hours since it was installed. Original Review 12/10/17: I can sometimes get it to work in test mode by changing the switches but when I put it on 1 min or 5 min, it will not work. I tried turning off for 1 min and waiting 1.5 min like it said in the manual but I still can't get it to work. Power is good because it always works when I turn the dimmer option on, just not with the auto off mode. I did buy the LED lights that it recommended when I purchased it but I did not realize at the time that the onlin specs refer only to incandescent lights. The manual does not mention either incandescent or LED and the online description says incandescent but it does not say that LED will not work. And, others seem to be able to get it to work with LED and it is sold as a bundle with LED lights. However, I have ordered some incandescent bulbs to see if that will fix the problem it before returning it. I don't think it will because it seems to be more of a short circuit issue as the problem is not predictably reproducible in terms of even getting it to work in test mode. However, maybe it is the LED lamps are causing the issues.

We hung this light up in our garage 4 yrs. ago and is still working wonderfully. It has motion detection so when we arrive home and push the button in our vehicles to open the garage door, the light comes on. The minute we walk into the garage from our house, the light come on. We needed more light in the center of our garage and it works perfectly. You can also adjust the length of time you want the light to stay on after detecting motion. Was a great asset to our garage. Very easy to put up. Would buy again.

This light was easy to install and has worked flawlessly since I put it in. It is aesthetically good looking, and keeps the entry way to my home well lit. It senses motion and lites up, turns off after 5 minutes. I don’t have bugs and moths all over my entry way anymore I am beyond pleased with this light!!
