Nice inexpensive compass
I've knocked 1 star off because clinometer is rather useless – the arrow gets stuck all the time, and there's no way to hold the reading. So you get a very, very rough estimate of an inclination. It's only useful in a really rough landscape where it's hard to tell which way's up. Other than that, it's a nice mirror compass. Speaking of mirror… I see some whining about "muddy" and "distorted" mirror. People, would y'all please remove the protective film first?! PS: There's only one real quirk worth mentioning, and it's a bezel. Instead of being marked from 0 to 360, this one uses a quadrant system, so instead of 150 degree azimuth you will be reading 30 degrees SE. No big deal, easy to convert and quite convenient actually… Like am/pm as opposed to the military time.

Functionality is Poor
The compass feels decent overall, but the knob is extremely stiff and hard to turn. More importantly, it doesn’t rotate through all 360 degrees like a normal compass should...it only goes up to 90 degrees before repeating. That means the main function of the compass just doesn’t work properly. If your work requires you to regularly note down precise bearings, this will be a real hassle to use. On top of that, the string meant to attach it falls off very easily. A compass should be reliable, accurate, and durable, especially outdoors, and this one fails on all three counts. For the price, it’s simply not worth it.

High Quality
Probably the best quality compass for the extra bucks. Certainly worth the investment. Accurate and reliable. Don't buy a cheap compass if you may need one someday. A high quality compass can save the day when you need it. All my field bags have a Suunto Compass. An MC-2 got us out of a bad pickle in the canyons in central Utah. If your shopping around, an MC-2 is a great investment.

Well honestly I am new to this. I had intended to pick up a global compass or MC-3, MC-2G but price and the amount of the globe this covers being that the majority of land masses seem to be above the equator, this MC-2 should be great with the reviews I've seen. One beef; Customer service. there is no notes with product about the clip I've shown and how to use at all or without loosing it. You wouldn't even need it, but it's there ? Anyone know because customer service is impossible to ask I found ? other than my question about the clip, I don't think you would need to worry. And I may have given a 5 star. Other's that reviewed once you figure setting declination. (there's a free website that you put your city or nearest location in and it gives you the degree's of correction to adjust. The screw at the back is not used to loosen the bezel, but turning one way or the other moves adjust the bezel either positive+, or - negative degrees. I think negative is adjustment to the West ? double check that ! Some people criticising compasses may be inexperienced like myself although I'm working on that. You want to keep your fingers and objects away from the needle/bezel. It is very sensitive as it should . Hope that helps, Happy Trails !

I was looking for a compass with 360 degrees. My mistake I should have looked more closely. It seemed to be a nice compass.
