Great for busy moms and on the go!
I’m a very busy mom of three juggling distance learning and taking care of all of my SAHM duties. My youngest is 9 month is exclusively breast fed along with actual food just no formula. She constantly attached to me and being busy having to sit down to feed her and then pump for extra time is just in the cards for me. I had a different pump which works great the spectra 2 but I couldn’t do anything but sit, and when you have a million things to do sitting is not an option. Another reason I decided to try Elvie was I could now allow my husband to help and bond by feeding when I needed a break or while making dinner or in the evening. I can pump while doing dishes or the laundry. But what I really enjoy is I can still nurse my 9mo old while I’m pumping and she doesn’t even get bothered by the pump. My old pump she would tug on and break suction even while wearing a pumping bra. Ease of use: assembly is very simple. There are paper instructions or you can use the app. It instructed me you to put it together when I first got it and how to start my session. The app is easy to set up and connect each time you use it. Features: being able to start the pump manually or through the app is great. I can set a timer change the speed or suction power without having to touch pump if I’m out. It has a sensors that monitors mild output and surprisingly it’s pretty accurate with little to no adjustment when I’m finished pumping. Some people said the light was super noticeable but it doesn’t seem to bother me. If you tend have longer pump sessions than the pump can get pretty warm when you go to take it out. Comfort: my first thought was how can this be comfortable? But once you get the hang of placement you barley know it’s there. It’s not super noticeable but since I purchased the single pump my chest looks a little lopsided, but any mom knows we have days where one breast is much bigger when breast feeding. Cleaning: I read a lot of reviews between Elvie and Willow and this one seem to have better reviews for cleaning. I would have to say that cleaning this one it’s actually easier than cleaning my original pump. I can’t even dry it in the collection container fully before reassembling. You may need a few bottle cleaning tools. I currently use the set of munchkin bottle cleaning tools and a doctor brown brush with a soft scrubbing top. And it is small enough to get into the collection container and clean every little nook and cranny. Since the pump portion cannot be submerged in water you need to make sure to take a wet towel and clean off the seals in the area world the Milk passes into the collection container because it can start to build up there. Mechanical: my first thought was that it was going to be very loud like my original pump. That is one thing that I really like about this pump it’s very quiet and is actually much more comfortable than a traditional pump. Because it is designed to hug your breast it’s not just sucking in your nipple. There are different shields that you can purchase if you need one that is larger than the one that it comes with the one that it comes with is a 24 mm. Which is The standard size for most breast plan on market. Overall I would 100% recommend this pump to anyone who is trying to make their life easier or for someone who is going back to work and exclusively pumping. To a mom who’s at home running around dealing with crazy children and a house and looking for a way to pump more effectively and efficiently. The only company I have is if the pump is beginning to get full in the reservoir bending over can sometimes make it leak or spill somehow. I haven’t exactly figured out why it would leak when I would bend over because it is sealed very well. That is my only complaint so far. It charges fully in roughly 2 hours when I took it out of the box. And I just plug it in after every session to make sure that it’s charged up. Parts: I love that it comes with two shields so I can pump and not have to clean it right away and have a second to use. It also comes with a carry bag so if I’m going to be mobile I can bring a clean one with me. I chose to go with a single pump and I’m glad that Elvie has The option to have a single which is why I ended up landing with them in the end. I had heard good things about the Willow but I also didn’t like how people complain that it was very hard to clean compared to the Elvie who had purchased both pumps. Overall if you do get the single pump or the double I think you’ll be happy with your purchase.

Very happy
I have 3 pumps. I hate having to stop what I’m doing, sit down with my arms pinned to my sides and pump for a half hour. I knew I needed to maintain my supply while also living my active, busy life... thus purchasing the Elvie. I’ve seen some people complain about suction.. aligning the nipple with the pump is harder than it looks, and if it isn’t aligned properly, suction can feel low. When used properly, suction is sufficient. I’ve noticed that it takes longer to drain my boobs pumping with Elvie, but I don’t mind at all since I can complete my activities effortlessly while wearing this pump. It takes about 20 min per side. The Elvie is super easy to take apart and clean. I find it much easier to clean over my Medela. It holds a charge for about an hour of pumping, so it does need to be charged between pump sessions. Again, a small sacrifice for pumping freedom. The app is great. I love controlling everything from my phone. It’s simple with everything you need, nothing you don’t. Overall, I’m incredibly pleased. If you’re hesitant about buying the Elvie, just do it!

Don’t waste your time
I really hate this pump. My baby refused to latch so i had no other option other than to pump or give formula. I had 2 choices this or the willow pump and boy did i choose wrong. This pump actually sucks. There are times when it doesn’t even charge, you have to put the charger in 3 or 4 times and wait for the light to come on. Then there’s the actual suction, sometimes it doesn’t. Even. Suck. At. All. You can try to completely clean and the dry the parts, switch in other parts, nothing works. And then when it actually DOES work, there are times when you are using it and you feel and hear a little silent “pop” and the suction is all of a sudden gone, so you need to take the flange out and put it back in and then it works fine again, until 2 minutes later when it does it again, and then another time… and about 10 more times until your sessions done. And don’t even get me started on the leaking. It can leak when it has .05 ounces in it, or 3 ounces, it doesn’t matter. It will soak your bra and ruin your mood instantly. And then having to clean the actual pump after leaking is also annoying because there are so many small places milk can get into. And this pump sometimes isn’t even “hands free” sometimes i have to hold it with my hands to even get any suction for the whole session. And yes I’m using the right size flange. I’ve been using this since the beginning of October, so it’s been 6 months so this review is completely honest and based on this being used 6-7 times a day. I also feel like because the suction on this pump is crap, my milk supply has gone waaaaay down which also is a huge bummer. Supplementing with 3 out of 5, sometimes 4 out of 5 bottles a day with formula isnt what I wanted from this pump. Save your sanity and buy a different hand free pump.

This broke within 6 months - make sure you buy from an authorised seller and not here where they will honour a warranty or just have better customer service in general.

This is my third baby, with my first I used a manual tommee tippee pump which I loathed. I hated the effort and how my hands got RSI from pumping. With my second I invested in the medela electric pump which was a lot better but still with many flaws, mainly noise, wires getting in the way and constant leaks leaving me drenched each feed. So for my new baby I said ‘stuff it’ and decided to break the bank by buying the Elvie. I am so glad I did. I don’t make loads of milk - I never have so that’s not the fault of any pump so I can’t comment as someone who makes loads but this pump does easily get what milk I do make out comfortably. The positives are; It’s quiet - it isn’t silent as claimed but you can have a conversation whilst using it and crucially you can hear the telly without putting the volume up to 11 It is hands free once it’s on and in the bra. I’ve used a hospital grade breast pump which didn’t yield more milk but did require me to hold the pumps in place. The great thing about the Elvie is that you can eat, hold the baby, stand up and answer the door etc all without stopping the pumping session. It’s comfortable- ladies you know how much your poor nipppes can hurt whilst feeding but the Elvie is very gentle. At first I was worried it would be too gentle to work but no, it pumps well without causing pain which is a massive plus. Once you figure it out, it’s easy to clean and assemble. The downsides; It’s design does mean that you have to lean forward somewhat to avoid leaks when you remove the pump It’s only suitable for cold water sterilisation - be careful here because I’ve read women have destroyed their pump by using heat to sterilise. It’s a bit annoying that I have to get tablets to sterilise but not a massive problem. Lastly it’s a shame it’s so expensive. Overall I really recommend the Elvie and am glad I don’t have another breast pump that I want to hurl across the room in frustration!
