Shoei CNS-1 PINLOCK Dark Smoke Shield

This is by all indicators a legit Shoei product: comes in a Shoei bag and looks identical to the one that came with the helmet. Installed easily on my Neotec and I love it! Neotec's drop-down visor is great but doesn't have as full a coverage as this, and it interferes with internal airflow. I've also used the drop-down in combination with this when riding directly into the sun and it saved me from squinting even lightly; the combo is probably too dark for regular riding tho. This is a perfect visor for riding in daylight, but if you ride at night then be ready to swap back the original clear visor as this is likely too dark for even dusk, let alone night time riding conditions.

Great shield that fits perfect on helmet. I was told by sales person where I bought helmet that there was no dark shield made for this helmet. When I looked on the internet I found an article that said the shields are made but they come direct from Japan not made in USA. Then I looked on amazon and there it was. Got it in a few days and it fit perfect.

I was torn with the $54.00 Shoei brand shield or an aftermarket iridescent shield for $20.00 less. I decided that I wanted quality over the cool look of the iridescent coating. I have had both Shoei and aftermarket shields, and there is always a “clear” choice if you want quality over coolness. I have yet to end up with a bad fit of a Shoei brand shield, but can count a few aftermarket shields I returned due to bad fit or no fit at all. The tint is fine for bright sunny rides, and when the sun is in my eyes I drop the built in tinted visor in my GT Air for added tint. Changing the tinted shield for the clear one takes all but 2 minuets if you want to take your time and avoid damaging either shield.

It’s Shoei, and it’s great as you would expect.

Hope nobody got one out of my batch. Never installed it. Looks like it has been spray painted. At first, I thought it was just the protective plastic.
