Creative Teaching Press® Math Minutes Book, Grade 4 Review: Great for summer review/practice - These books are excellent. As a former high school math teacher, it's important to me that my children build a strong background in math while in elementary school. These books were the perfect summer review. (There were a couple concepts the kids didn't know, but most parents would be able to show them how to do these problems.) Each "minute" is quick, even when the kids don't finish within a minute, we have them finished, checked, and corrected within 10 minutes. It reviews a variety of concepts at each grade level without being burdensome. I will probably continue to order these for my kids each summer, although we've only done the odd minutes so my younger child can reuse the older child's book! Review: Great book for kids - I bought this book for my fourth grader and it had a great impact on his performance in class. He finished the book in about a month and he improved enough that he was moved into the math enrichment group at school. The only problem (if you can call it a problem) is that the book requires parent involvement, as there are no explanations for the children to learn from and many of the problems had not yet been reviewed in class. So you will have to review his work and explain the concepts that he doesn't know. In my case, I had to teach him long division, some statistical concepts (mean, range, mode, etc.) and a little geometry before he learned it in school. We liked the book so much that we bought the second grade one for our younger child, and we noted a marked improvement in his school work as well.

Math minutes
This is a great product to help cover general math skills. I use it in an elementary resource room as a daily warm-up and it is a great way to start the day. Granted, some of the skills are too challenging for the kids, or they just don't know the drill, but it is a good way to assess what they need practice on.

Great practice
I love this book for my 4th grader. I have her do a sheet or two every night as a supplement to her regular school work. The fact that many concepts are covered, it keeps her well versed in all that is covered. I feel like she feels more confident with her math skills.

Our favorite review worksheets
Fantastic review worksheets. Each can be completed in 1-4 minutes. I like that there are a variety of types of problems on each page, for a total of about 10 problems to complete. Very good variety of problems included, that increase in difficulty as you work through the book. An excellent resource for summer practice, homeschooling, or any student who does better with frequent reviews. (Be aware that the book doesn't teach how to do the problems - it's purely problems, with an answer key in the back.)

Great for homeschooling warmups!
I use this as a math warmup for my home schooled 4th grader. We absolutely love it. I like how it mixes in lots of different operations to keep all of her math skills sharp. I also use the 6th grade version of this book for my son.

Great math drills for a 4th grader
Great math drills for a 4th grader.....but someone needs to be able to sit there and make sure the student can answer the questions rather than get stuck. I like the variety of math drills included.

Helps a busy mom keep her boys "alearning"
My son came home with printouts for this book for home work. Actually it was math minutes for 2nd grade. I must say I really like these. For me its a no-brainer. When I see them playing their video games etc. I just make them (he and his brother ) pause for a minute and complete the front-back of one page.. an resume playing. I do this a couple times a day and I love it.

I highly recommend Math Minutes series. These one page sets of 10-12 questions cover very important basic math skills and are a great tool to detect and correct any gaps a student may have. And yes, they can actually be completed in one minute! Some of the questions may not be adequate for Canadian, for example questions that reference illustrations with US dollars (where a student is asked to recognize from the picture the total amount of money) or questions related to conversions of imperial units (inches to feet etc) but these are not very frequent (maybe 1 questions on every 5th page or so).
