Ace Martial Arts Supply Crossbow String Replacement and Caps (50, 80, 150 180 LB)

This crossbow is a good starter bow for someone who has never used one. Many years ago I was into Archery and enjoyed it very much. This crossbow has just the amount of power (80lbs) to put a bolt into a tree at a good distance. There is only one item that did not work well and that is the arrows (bolts). Every arrow that I shot into a tree the tail fins would break off. My suggestion would be to buy a more expensive arrow for the 80 pound bow if you don't want to be constantly ordering the cheaper arrows.

For the record at this price you cannot expect a lifetimes use out of it as it frays quickly but then again at this price you can buy a new one on a regular basis. It lost a star due to it starting to fray after the first use but it is cheap and more powerful than the original 50# string that came with the crossbow so I will still give it 4 stars and order more as I need to and just keep a spare on hand. To be fair I think the action on the bow itself lends to the fraying so I would still gladly recommend this to anyone with a pistol type crossbow - just remember to order a spare.

Stings are piece of crap.. Dangerous!! They unravel and snap ruining limb...and the ends explode.BUY THE SAS 12 PACK ENDS AND 80LBS CROSSBOW STRING

the string is fine, works great and the shafts of the bolts are nice, they have a good weight to them. however the plastic used on the fletching portion of the bolts feels cheap and is fairly brittle, if the bolt gets buried into the target enough to reach the fletch the fletching will break if it is secured properly; several of them that were not glued in well simply fell off. I am torn between trying to re-fletch them because the shaft is solid, or getting new ones. if you just need a replacement string and some disposable bolts then these may be great for you but I will definitely not be ordering these bolts again.

Considering how inexpensive these strings are they last long and work great. This string is on my 80 lb. pistol crossbow (also from Amazon & incredibly awesome) and has shot at least 100 bolts with no loss of power or breaks. Even though they're quality strings I'd recommend getting a few backups because even the best strings can break. And for the price it's worth it just to have them around.
