So far so good. It arrived with a full charge and has brought my old chart plotter back to life. It seems to charge properly. Shipping and service was great. Thanks for a good product at a value price point.

no fitment issues like others reported
Fit my 396 perfectly, no fitment issues like others reported. Works, holds a charge, and much less expensive than the genuine garmin battery

Buyer Beware!
Buyer beware! This battery died after a few weeks and would no longer hold a charge. Used on a Garmin 396 GPS.

Works fine and charged up for nearly 10 hours according to my Garmin GPSMAP. The fit was not perfect as it can pop out easily. If not for this nuisance, I would give it 5 stars.

Some modification required
As several other reviewers have noted, this battery is not a prefect replacement for the stock Garmin battery. I too found that it needed 3 layers of black electrical tape on the side opposite the latch. With that modification, it snapped into place and worked perfectly. I deducted a star because of the required tape-hack and also because I don't have any data on how long it will last. I will be using in my GPS 396 primarily on external power so I really only need the battery to maintain date/time/position info. I also want it for the scenario where you lose your aircraft electrical system and need to find an airport fast. Happened to a friend of mine - electrical fire and his battery-powered GPS helped get him on the ground intact. As Chuck Yeager said: "Always give yourself an out". Edit 09/11/18: I have discovered that the main battery does NOT support the maintenance of date/time/position information. My unit continues to lose track of this data despite the fully-charged new battery. This is because this data is maintained by a small rechargeable internal battery (MC621) that only gets recharged while the unit is in operation. It is buried deep inside the unit and is soldered in place. After years of sitting in my plane it no longer holds a charge. To make things even more challenging, this German-made battery is no longer manufactured. And any idea of letting Garmin fix this was quickly dispelled when I learned that they have a $400 'bench charge' to repair out-of-warranty units. After some research, I ordered the closest thing to a replacement (SEIKO MS621FE) and will report once I get it installed. Full disclosure: opening the case will void any warranty that still exists. In my case this is not a problem :)

Battery falls out.
The plastic clip on the battery doesn't lock into the gps unit, allowing the battery to fall out. Amazon doesn't think replacing the battery will help, instead they gave me $1.50 off of the purchase price of a battery that falls out. I will be contacting the manufacturer.
