Review: Good Summer Read - Great summer read for my fourth grader. He loved it and we were able to read together and discuss and then of course follow up with the movie. He hasn't been able to put it down since it arrived earlier this week. It is nice to be able to motivate him to read in the summer with the prospect of a good story and a movie. The story is great for teaching about and encouraging discussions about emotions, sacrifice, and humanity. The plot story develops well and adequately introduces and builds the charter and the story. It was also nice for a young reader that the portions of the story that are memories are printed in italics in order to separate and cue to young reader that it is in fact a recollection of the past. My son has really enjoyed reading this novel. Review: Wonderful and enjoyable book of the possible! - My supervisor/lead recommended this book to me since I was reading a Chicken Soup for the Soul book. I ordered it from desertcart. After I received it, I moved it to the front of my reading list. I am happy that I did. This story at the beginning of the book reminds me of the story, “The Tale of Tabby” from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Possible. The young and main characters each need a special dog to help them in different ways. The respective dog bonds with young person and helps him in the future. This is an inspirational story. If you want to feel good, I recommend Max as a good, enjoyable and uplifting read.

Great story, great read!
Since this book was based on the movie, instead of the other way around, and since I knew who the stars were, it made it an even better read. Nice to visualize the actual stars into the story. It was one of those books that was hard to put down, making it a quick read. Have not seen the movie yet but can't wait to do so. Wanted to do the "read the book, see the movie" thing. But, if you read the book, you will certainly want to see the movie.

Good Book for Dog Lovers
This is a good book for young dog lovers of either sex. I loved the fact that it was the girl who was the "dog whisperer". The age group for which the book is intended will surely love it. As an adult, I did find it more than a little predictable and the problems solved a bit too easily and quickly. Will youngsters feel that way? Probably not. Is it a book I would teach? No, but I would recommend it - especially to the less enthusiastic readers.

your heart will weep with sadness and joy!
A very dramatic story that keeps one involved until the very end. As a nurse that took care of another generation of wounded from Vietnam I feel like I could live each word of the story and feel the loss of the families that the soldier did not make it the story of Max and the younger brother is wonderful. Please read this book. It will do your heart good.

this is the best Book I have Ever READ!!!
I never thought I'd BE reading a Military Book, but MAXX's Story called to ME... I've heard that the. military used Dog's in battle. But I didn't know that they could suffer from PTSD as well. this story is Great for all ages.. AND I highly recommend you READ it if YOU have ever wondered what goes on in a soldiers mind after the war is over..But just remember when they return home their battle IS just Beginning because they are trying TO remember WHO they were before becoming a SOLDIER !!

Wow
My young son and I watched the video for this story and my son loved it so much, I decided to purchase the book. Though there were details in the movie which were not in the book, we really enjoyed the book. The story was well written with simple descriptions that embellished the story without making it endlessly boring or difficult to read aloud to my son. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

What a beautiful written book just loved it! Maybe it's because I'm a softie! And maybe it's because I love my dog so much but whatever it is I loved this book it had me in tears for nearly every chapter! Brilliant story! And a great tribute to those soldiers and there loyal dogs who have lost there lives protecting us!
