BOSTITCH EZ Squeeze 40 Sheet 3-Hole Punch

This is a simple, sturdy punch which lacks most of the "bells and whistles" of its competitors to achieve "HOLE PUNCH GLORY". I gave its predecessor away due to multiple PROBLEM AREAS: 1. Competitor was capable of "adapting to different paper sizes with a SLIDING BOTTOM FEATURE which was always so LOOSE as to require constant readjustment--and not a few jobs which had to be redone; the dreaded "double hole" problem. This unit does not allow adjustment in that manner, and so IT CANNOT FAIL TO ACHIEVE ITS PURPOSE. 2. Competitor's "hole positions" could change by sliding pieces along a rod on left side--but lack of uniformity arose because it was not easy to always make the chosen hole position exactly equal. This unit does not allow such (unwelcome) "adaptability". 3. Competitor base, where all those tiny little punched out circles were stored, WOULD INVARIABLE COME LOOSE, scattering those "cute tiny circles" all over my desk, and floor, and papers. This has a STURDY base, which will not "accidentally" come loose. "Fit and finish" of the Bostitch product is excellent. 4. Competitor was also rated for "40 pages", but was so engineered that this required slamming my hand down on the lever, threatening to break the unit. This one has a kind of "two-part" lever action: (a) push hard to contact, then (b) increased resistance is met and harder force required. THIS WILL ACCOMMODATE MORE THAN 40 pages, but I do not recommend it. "NO POUNDING REQUIRED" here. If you are only punch up to 20 pages, you can do so EASILY while seated. If you are going for 40 or so, you will need to stand up and put your weight onto level. However, you will never feel like you are abusing the device. 5. Competitor had a recurrent problem with those teeny, tiny little punched out circles, which tended to ACCUMULATE between far left margin of punch and the rod creating the hole so that papers were pushed out from left margin, again, requiring, at times, the "double hole" approach--unsightly and frustrating. Simply made, sturdy, attractive, and easy to use, this is one piece of office equipment that fulfills my needs PERFECTLY. If you want all that "adaptability" and use for anything other than three hole (or just two "top hole") jobs, buy a (cheap) competitor, and cry, cry, cry as it fails you again and again--or spend hundreds on a professional level punch. I purchased this for use in my 8th grade classroom. I absolutely love it! The fact that it can hold 50 sheets to be punched at once is wonderful! It has been very durable, easy to keep on my counter, especially when secured in the lock down position. The alignment of the punches seems to be perfect for three ring binders. And it is sharp enough that it works very well going through 50 sheets of paper!

This 3-hole punch works the best and is the easiest to use of any I've tried. The 40-sheet capacity is accurate, and you don't have break your hand trying to get it to punch. Highly recommend!

This is a great quality hole puncher... heavy duty and works as advertised.. it's worth every penny. This hole punch doesn't take much effort even if you use it for 40 pages.. it passes my test.. I love it..

It's a one trick pony but it ponies well. Complliments with my red Swingline 40 page stapler as well. It's a good 1-2 combo that gives you that excitement your windowless office never had. That satisfaction as you slowly push the lever down and felt the fear of these peasant copy paper as their fibers break, making fresh lettuce crunching sounds, the three cold steel pistons ripping through that bleached processed thin pieces of wood. Oh it gets my heart pumping. My veins flows like the ancient rivers of Babylon. 1. Easily punched 40 pages of copy paper. The stapler had no problem stapling it. According to Japanese history and Mythbusters confirmed, stacks of paper are great for body armor. 2. Punched a 62 page user manual for the Canon printer I haven't set up. The stapler also stapled it. Great leg armor to prevent the shooting pain from self inflicting charlie horse when you start to fall asleep on your desk. 3. Punched through my amazon credit card unflinched. Punched through several gift cards as well. The stapler didn't fare so well. However, some super glue did the trick. It's good armor for a front pocket but don't expect it to stop an arrow. I don't think you have as many cards as you do copy paper. 4. Punched a wired mouse wire. If you stretch it over the hole and punch it real fast, it will cut the line clean off. Now you have a wireless mouse. The stapler couldn't stapler it back together. 5. Punched a stick of heavy duty staples. Didn't go well. 6. I challenged the puncher to several layers of thick fabric as the final challenge. I found a rag and held it in there stretched out tight over 3 layers. It punched right through! But upon closer examination, it's actually my wife's summer dress. I poured some steak sauce over it and gave it to the dog to chew on. She would still snatch me up any second now as soon as she finds out but at least she wouldn't know it's my beloved hole puncher and can't throw it away. She won't throw me away because she's catholic so she doesn't believe in divorce and it's easy to make her feel guilty. Conclusion: At the end of the day, the Swingline stapler failed me too many times so the Bostitch is a great product. However, the Bostitch didn't come in fire engine red. Therefore, the Swingline stapler is the superior product. But going purely by function and achieving its specs, I believe the Bosti

Fixed paper guide for US Letter paper only , DO NOT buy this if you use A4 paper-it punches in the wrong place & can't adjust the paper guide - it is fixed in place - I wish this was made clear in the description :(

Nowhere does the description say this is NOT for A4 paper. If you put A4 paper into it, the holes will not be centered on the page. Overall it is a well built unit.

This thing is so easy to use, and works like a dream. Lining up the paper is a cinch, and no force is required to punch. The hole alignment is accurate. It did take me a minute to figure out how to unlock the handle, but there's a little diagram on one side; nice to be able to store it away more compactly if necessary. Solid construction, worth every penny.
