Snap Circuits “Arcade”, Electronics Exploration Kit, Stem Activities for Ages 8+, Full Color Project Manual (SCA-200)

Perfect gift for my 11 year old who loves to build. He wanted something stem related that he could do independently at his desk. He has had a lot of fun doing the numerous projects in the included packet. The arcade theme was unique and added another fun element. Everything was well made, and even when one piece broke the company was quick to send a replacement part, no questions asked. I've been really happy with this and will look into more snap circuits in the future!

I have fond memories of playing and experimenting with an electronics project kit as a kid. Out of the blue, my youngest son (7yrs) asked me about electronic circuits and these project kits. So after researching products here and elsewhere online, I decided to surprise him with this Snap Circuits project kit on his birthday. QUALITY and CONSTRUCTION: The kit consists of a number of electronic components embedded in “Snap Circuit” modules. Even though most of the connectors are solid bridges used to make connections between components, there are a few wire connectors. All the connectors and modules connect via a male/female snap. The base project board is made of plastic and is used to align the components when constructing the circuits. FUNCTIONALITY and IMPRESSIONS The project manual is an excellent work book for learning about electronic components and circuits. My son loves to run through each project. I also love to work with him on these projects and feel that they explain the properties and functionality of each component and project at a level that he can understand. The Projects are interesting and build upon the previous to allow you child to understand basic concepts and to use them as “tools” to eventually create their own circuits bases on what they have learned. PROS: Quality components “Snap” method of connecting circuits is durable and forgiving with young children. Very detailed, yet easy to follow project book where each projects builds upon the previous. CONS: My son now wants me to buy him all the Snap Circuits Kits available.

Snap Circuits "Arcade" projects were just difficult enough to challenge my grandson and cause him to work through the details to determine where he had a problem. I think for a child who enjoys problem solving and building things, this would be a great gift.

Lots of fun, programmable LED displays, educational

A bit confusing at first. We haven’t been able to do any game. It would be helpful to have more details on the “games” because they don’t make sense at all. We had fun building it though.

Fun for kids: I bought this for a birthday present for one of my kids and both of them enjoy it! The “programmable light fan” where you can put in your own message is super cool. Great fun and educational set, especially over summer break.

STEM perfect and fun fun fun!!!

As a mechanical engineer, I am thoroughly enjoying this. I’m very happy I had an 8-yr-old to buy it “for” - hehe. He likes it a lot too, though. I love how many things you can do with so few pieces and the original packaging is easy to use for storage, too (from the mom perspective). Each item has a spot in the plastic insert. It took a fairly decent spill, so a couple of pieces are cracked, but they still work just fine! I wouldn’t recommend for kids much under the 7/8 yr old range because electricity is a fairly complicated topic and you can short pieces out if connected incorrectly and powered on. The instructions are well put together, and the concepts can be more deeply understood as they age. I love that they include so much basic concept knowledge (worded very well for the target audience) and encourage creativity outside of the instructions. This one will be around for a long time.

This is our second snap circuit set. I bought it as a surprise for the children as mcc to my surprise they worked very swiftly through the first, much bigger set. They got very excited by this set as it includes far more intricate elements and electric functionalities. The children, aged 6 and 9, couldn’t wait and have already progressed much with this set. I’m even more surprised by the enthusiasm the youngest one displays. They like to work through the Snap Circuit booklet together. But he typically can’t wait for his older sister to join/help and just starts and completes most these projects himself - there might be some genetic stuff at work here as there are family members that are highly skilled with electronics. It just amazes me because as I’m an electronic ignoramus, I can barely replace batteries or change a light bulb. These sets are simply marvellous in my view and give children a very good understanding of electronics. Each set offers an enormous range of possibilities and the broader Snap-circuit line makes them versatile and modular. The set comes very well presented in a box that is great for overly storage. And the whole makes a perfect educational gift. The set comes with a range of colourful elements that exhibit different functions. The box includes clear, straightforward coloured instructions. Younger children from the age of 5 should be able to complete the easiest tasks. So far the durability and quality of these sets his very good. Haven’t encountered any broken electronics parts. It’s great that this sets manages to engage children for several hours with a challenging, highly educational activity and of the iPad or Playstation for a while. Our purchase is very timely as well as it turns our youngest just learned about some basic electronics at school. This set will let them experiment for years. As such these sets are very good value for money.

The Elenco Snap Circuits Arcade Electronics Discovery Kit exceeded our expectations. Our 8 year old loves it, and spends as much time as he can building new circuits, programming it, and impressing his friends with the light shows he can do. We have also purchased the Elenco Snap Circuits set with 300 projects - also excellent! These sets are high quality - well built, the pieces are durable and can be used in multiple ways, the instructions are easy to follow, and the projects are fun, creative, and great learning tools. We have recommended the sets to friends, and none have been disappointed. A full 5 stars!

This is the second set I’ve bought for my grandson. Another great set of projects to get stuck into. He builds these on his own and it’s a great way to learn about circuits and components.

Snap circuits are so fun, and this kit has some bonus features that make it extra awesome. My son loved the LED light feature and learned to program it himself to say the names of everyone in the family. It also has a fun disco light. Educational but really fun at the same time! Perfect for 8-10 year olds to do themselves, or for younger kids to do with help from a parent.
