Does the job!
I ordered this and the doll cake pan, but the heating rod came on time and the pan didn't! I used it anyway, but in a glass, oven-safe mixing bowl. It did the job just fine! You can see in my pictures how silly it looked rising out of the raw batter, but how pretty much the full length was needed when the cake baked. I included how the cake looked when the rod was removed, and in the last picture, you can see the inside of the finished cake; it baked all the way through with no undercooked areas. My 5 year old daughter was actually struck silent. Truly flabbergasted. Did I feel weird buying something called a "heating rod" and sticking it in a mixing bowl? Yes. Was it absolutely worth it when we brought the cake out and my daughter froze, stared for a long minute, then pointed and stuttered "It's Barbie and she's a cake!" YES. Worth it. I actually liked the shape of it well enough that I have yet to use the actual Fat Daddio doll cake pan. I've used the heating rod exclusively in oven-safe glass mixing bowls.

Works great even for small pans!
If you ever have undercooked centers and overcooked edges, get this, it really helps. I make vegan cakes where undercooked, wet centers are often a problem. This makes the cake bake much more evenly. I use it even with small pans (6" diameter) when the batter is shallow (1" deep). So if you think you might need it, just buy it! Removing it can be tricky. I oil (butter) it well before I put it in the empty pan. To remove it from the done cake, I set a cooling rack over the top of the cake with the rod sticking through a gap in the rack. Then invert the cake and rack together over cans set on the ends of rack keeping it elevated. Remove the pan and then pull out the rod.

Helpful for large deep pans.
I really like how well these perform. It cuts down on baking time and ensures the middle of the cake is done without the outer part getting dry. I use them with three and four inch deep cake pans. They clean very easily and are well worth the money, as I have used them over and over and they still look brand new.

Perfect!
I ordered this to use in a half-dome cake pan after reading some reviews recommending it for baking in this particular pan. After spraying my pan with the non-stick spray I also sprayed the heating rod. It stayed in place as I poured the batter in the pan. I worried during the baking process if the rod would drift or get batter underneath it. I didn't want to go fishing for it after the cake cooled and destroy my cake. After baking and cooling, I turned out my cake and the rod was still in place, and slid right out! It didn't bring any crumbs with it, and my cake looked beautiful! It was also baked all the way through perfectly. I'm so glad I bought this. I'm sure it saved me a lot of headache.

Easy to Use
This worked just fine in my 10” round pan and allowed the center of my cake to bake evenly.

Nice!
I have never used these before, they worked really well, with a 13 x 18 1/2 sheet cake.

Game changer when working with deep pans
I use these when baking with the 3 inch deep pans. It results in a much more evenly baked cake over using the pastry flower nails. They are long so flipping onto an elevated cooling rack gives the needed room for the nail tip. I put the head between the pan and parchment paper, not in with the batter. The nail, cake strips and the Fat Daddio pans has been baking up level, evenly baked cakes.

Pas utilisé pour l'instant mais ça ne saurait tarder.

Good sized heating core for cake baking. The rod is long enough for a larger cake, too.

As a amateur baker my tall cakes used to have either raw-ish middle, or burnt edges. No more. This little addition to bake pan distributes heat evenly at the center, does not deform the cake, and the hole from it is tiny. Wish I knew about it earlier!

Très pratique pour le moule en forme de ballon, on s'assure que le milieu cuit en même temps que le tour.

Used them for baking a cake in an oversized 9" pan.
