Great, long-grained basmati in a not so great package
This rice has an exceptionally long and somewhat thin grain, probably twice the length of traditional white rice. The flavor is what you'd expect from a good basmati with the characteristic popcorn aroma as it cooks. It cooks up perfectly in my rice cooker and retains firm, individual grains. There is a very subtle golden tint to it, more noticeable prior to cooking. I'm completely satisfied with the flavor, appearance and texture. The only thing I'm not that happy with is that the bag does not feature a zip lock or other means of resealing. In the past I've purchased my basmati in the 20 lb. burlap bags with the zipper tops which are handy for storage. I'd recommend this be stored in canisters since the packaging material is sort of slick and stiff which makes it hard to reseal even when using clips or ties. The rice itself is excellent.

Truly Extra Long and No Burlap
I will never buy grocery store quality basmati rice again. The grains of this rice are a soft gold which surprised me. Not white. However, when you cook it it is white. Cooked grains look to be about an inch long. I have never measured, but that is a good guess. I was careful to buy a rice that does not come in a burlap bag. Rice in a burlap bag tastes like burlap and I cannot stand that taste. Even when there is a plastic bag holding the rice in the burlap bag it tastes bad. There is no problem with that with this wonderful tasting rice. I will be buying this rice again.

Excellent rice! And wonderful company!
The rice was very clean straight out of the bag. We rinsed it 3 times, and there was not a speck at even the first rinsing. It is a beautiful long grain -- not one piece went through the strainer when rinsing. The rice itself is delicious! Each grain of rice was individual and very flavorful. Not only that, but this company is really special. I mislaid the box the product came in, and thought that it had not arrived. I got a refund without question, and then found the box. It was not possible to have the refund returned (I tried several times) but the company was very supportive and just suggested that I give the money to a coronavirus relief fund (I plan to contribute to a food distribution non-profit in New York).

Excellent quality
This is the longest grain rice I’ve used. The rice does not stick together and is flavorful.

Good quality rice
RIce quality is good, it has long grain., Rice is good for pulaw, briyani and daily consumptions. Taste and flavor are also nice. Zip packing is absent. Rice is a little pricy.

A Little Clumpy
TAJ Premium is the second brand of Basmati rice I've purchased that has the problem of clumping while being rinsed before cooking. You have to actually put your hand into the strainer to break up the clod(s) that form when it first contacts with water. The only other basmati I've purchased that "clumped" like this was the Zabardast, which was pre-steamed. Ergo, I've *finally* learned that I'm not a fan of Basmati rice that has been pre-steamed, as it seems to make it clump when rinsing, and sticky in general.

Pandemic Rice Shortage
What do you do when your family loves Basmati rice and the shelves are empty because of Covid-19? You wish you were a prepper and then you see if Amazon can help. I usually buy (1) 2 lb bag when we have 2 rice cooker cups left. This time there was no rice. I couldn't believe it! It took a while, but I got this sturdy 10 lb bag of Basmati that was grown in India. Basmati grown in India has virtually no arsenic which is important to me. We put the rice in the freezer for 3 days to make sure there were no bugs. When it thawed out, it looked and smelled good. It wasn't as "white" as the kind I buy locally, but there was no difference in taste or quality. We portioned it into clean jars for easier storage. I hope that this supply lasts until the local stores have a chance to catch up.
