MAGIX Music Maker 2016 Live

For beginners in music production. Easy to install software for Windows operating system. The only drawback is it doesn't come with very many loaded beats you have to buy to build a library of beats and sounds. The samples are a little outdated now also but I have made a couple of cool songs on it.

It's the real deal with the newer features relative to the 2022 version, but we are left without Beatbox 2 and imposed the piano reel style sequencer which I have always disliked. Now outside of this, it's the easiest program to just drag, drop, time adapt and automated snap to time grid DAW I've ever used. It does everything but the interface is proprietary and far less intuitive than the overwhelming number of popular DAWs. Those on the other hand with an equal roster of features are very cluttered in drop down menus and efficiency of sequencing is the popularized piano real sequencer pads. Anyway, this is suitable for really any music video project. The old school effects are enough to produce something clever that modern youth will watch. It's easy to get high quality instrument and vocal recordings as well as mix them. Magix always reminded me of what I thought was an attempt to bridge the user interface of console games and applications, with the known computer world of windows based interfaces. I have had various versions of this program, and was always able to drag and drop things like Beatbox 2 and other synths, into the newer programs. I'm sure I can find Beatbox2 again and do it with this.

After some problem understanding what was going on and help form the shipper. It is working. It is more advanced than last Magix program but dfI hope to get use to it soon.

This is a fun program. You can "hit the ground running" because of its simplicity.

The Good - The 15 Virtual Instruments are beyond reproach. The best ones are not listed on the box. They call them "Object Synthesizers." One is a Groove box called BeatBox 2 that would stand against Roland's vintage GrooveBoxes. Another great VST is the Loop Designer. A Drum and Bass Beat Powerhouse. The presets for the VSTs shown on the box are Phenomenal. Namely DN-e1 and Revolta2. If the package only contained these items it would be worth every penny. The Bad - The yellow looping bar is unpredictable and hard to control and once shrunk down is a challenge to reopen. It can be done through edit objects but is difficult. This is not a deal breaker though. The Ugly - You only receive maybe 2500 of the promised 6000 loops on the advertisement. If you are a registered user with MAGIX they will give you five additional free soundpools online, but you have to go and get them yourself and this brings the final count to a little more than 3000. Closing on a good note the "Live Pads" synched automatically with my Novation Lauchkey Mini with no effort on my part and synced even better than when used with Abelton Live. The Mastering Suite is powerful with great EQing tools and the Piano Roll and editing capabilities are solid. Overall a good value for the money. I can recommend this product.
