Sturdiwheat Crepe Mix, 30-Pound Package

It is pricey but to find actual crepe mix was horrible so I’m glad they have it. I don’t like that it comes in a big bag as I had to buy containers to put it in. And I wish they put the mixing instructions in the order as this is the first time we are going to make them.

I was a little hesitant as the name SturdiWheat suggested a bulkier crepe than I wanted. As I read the product ingredients and noticed the addition of soy grits I was concerned that the crepe might have a gritty texture. I was pleasantly surprised to see how easily the batter spread on my griddle with my crepe spreader and how thin yet flexible the end product was even at the recommended mix of 1/2 cup mix to 3/4 water. I did not notice any grittiness. The flavor is mild enough for dessert crepes and would complement a savory crepe recipe well. I would recommend SturdiWheat include a full description of ingredients in their product description on Amazon in case anyone has a soy allergy.

I have used all commercially available bulk crepe batters. By FAR, this mix is the best that I have ever used. It cooks perfectly to a pleasing golden appearance. I did not have one single crepe that failed to cook beautifully, and taste wonderful in the five gallons that I used at my last event. I’ve cooked countless crepes at fairs, carnivals, etc, so I know that any problems from previous crepe batters were the other batters, not my equipment or technique. I highly recommend this product.
